36 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/24/2022

We first noticed the vehicle's lack of power and sudden increase when driving at a stop light/sign. We checked and replaced spark plugs, cables, coils, and a new battery. We became highly concerned when the vehicle would accelerate while driving and the rpms would toggle between 500-1500 rpms without pressing the gas. We immediately took it to an authorized mechanic, who found excessive noise from the transmission area and found debris/metal. No codes were present when a system performance was done. The vehicle only has 68806 miles on the odometer. The transmission had to be fully replaced, which cost over $7k. The replacement was done. This seems to be a common issue (transmission replacements) with this vehicle as now we're hearing more about it. Please check this as we could have easily been in an accident from the loss or increase of power without notice and no warning lamp indications. This was a very expensive repair caused by the manufacture and not user error. We paid a lot for this particular vehicle and certainly love it but am concerned about this expensive safey/mechanical issue. Please call me for any questions (napoleon erazo 972-740-8783).

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/14/2022

When I was merging on the fwy my car accelerated and I couldn’t slow it down. I had to get off the fwy and break really hard. Driving on the fwy and not being able to control the speed or breaks could of caused an accident or cost us our lives. I have an appointment with the dealer service center on sept 20, 2022. A few weeks ago I noticed the car was having trouble sifting gears.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

My vehicle began shuddering during acceleration and would violently jerk forward after gas pedal was engaged with decreased power in forward acceleration and increase in rpm. This last a couple of weeks. Now, my vehicle is completely broke down and at a gm certified service center. The service manager states torque converter completely went out and the transmission is burnt up. The mileage is at $61,000, so gm warranty won’t cover it and the company that holds the extended warranty I purchased hasn’t been able to be successfully contacted. There is a “service” bulletin but no recalls and a class action lawsuit (that I’m not a part of) but no recall. My vehicle completely lost power going 50mph on a busy road without warning. This needs to be a recall due to this dangerous circumstance.

43 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 04/03/2021

Travelling down the highway 69 mph with my wife and three small children when the dash flashed multiple error codes, engine speed limited to 62 mph, and brakes essentially went out. Was able to get safely stopped. Contacted dealership and they advised shutting it off for 20 min and it would "reset". It did not reset and we refused to drive it in such unsafe circumstances without adequate brake function etc. GMC roadside assistance came and towed it away. Could have resulted in much worse outcomes and we are thankful no one was injured. Very nervous to drive it again after we get it back, not knowing if it will malfunction again.

44 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/01/2021

When I let go of the brake the vehicle accelerates on its own. It's a scary feeling, I feel like don't have control of the vehicle. Another problem that I have is that I can not put my vehicle in gear right away when I turn on the engine. Another problem that I have is rattling sound and vibration on the gas pedal when I accelerate.

46 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/05/2020

The information screen on the gauge cluster sometimes will stop working. This is dangerous as it is the only part that shows if the vehicle is in park, reverse, nuetral, or drive. It also is the only part that shows the vehicles fuel level, blinker, cruise control, temperature and other warnings and controls. This is a common problem for the 2015- xxxx Yukon and tahoe.

47 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/19/2020

While driving at approximately 65 mph on a highway, the locks engaged, the radio shut down, power steering was lost, and the vehicle slowed down/braked on it's own. Thankfully we were able to move to the side of the road without getting hit. The only message on the dash was "service stabilitrack. " the dealer and an independent mechanic have been unable to replicate the error message.

48 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

When driving it sometimes begins to hesitate reduce power the traction and stability and engine light comes on. When this happens the rpm gauge as well stops working. If I pull over on side of road and turn off and restart most times the ignition will hang and keep trying crank the vehicle. It's hesitant to crank when this happens and sometimes cranks and then immediately dies. It will shift hard just before powering into a reduced power mode. If you turn off restart turn your wheel all the way left and then all the way right and crank it will sometimes make the lights go off and you think reset but as soon as you start driving it happens again. I understand this is a problem a lot and I mean a lot are having so not sure why this isn't being investigated and recalled. Most say no matter what they have repaired or replace the problem still exist so there is a root that's creating the problem that needs to be found and addressed by general motors! forgot to mention when this happens sometimes the brake pedal as well gets really hard! this a problem that's been continuous off and on since I've owned the vehicle.

The vehicle started to pull all the way to the right side while driving on the 710 freeway in long beach, a noise started to be audibly heard while I was driving. I I contacted the executive offices of general motors and nobody could assist me with the repairing this vehicle. I was told there is no remedy for this issue.

53 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 12/30/2019

We have had our 2016 Yukon xl for almost 2 years. Last year we started experiencing episodes where the vehicle will shift down into reduced power mode with p0090 and p0091 as the fault codes. We have been working with the dealer, but once the vehicle has been turned off for about 20 minutes or so it clears and leaves no trace of an issue. This is extremely dangerous and recently shifted into reduced power leaving us only able to drive 35 miles per hour. We were on the highway in maryland with cars flying around us at ~80 miles per hour. We had all of our children in the car and were in the far left lane. The reduced power made it nearly impossible to get to the right shoulder safely. I have a friend with a new GMC sierra that has the same issue. He dropped it off at his dealer for 3 weeks and returned it finding any issues. This is very dangerous and needs to be addressed. All it will take is someone dying to turn it into a class action lawsuit.

54 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/31/2019

Happened two times yesterday. 2007 Yukon denali odometer: 191,707 engine hours: 1443. 9 first, stabilitrak control turned off and engine power was reduced illuminated on the message center of the dash board. Car would not accelerate above 20 mph. When I would try to push the gas petal there would be a shutter in the rear of the vehicle. I was able to put the car in park, turn it off and tried restarting. Same issues continued. I limped to my work a less than a mile away to try and figure out what was happening as I had myself and 4 kids in the car after trick or treating. I shut off the car and waited for a bit while I read online what was causing this. Upon restarting the car, it started working again as normal. Safety risk when you can't accelerate past 20 mph on a 45 mile per hour road. Second occurance was a few hours later. I turned the car on to leave and the same things happened, this time it was driving like I had lost my power steering and no engine power. Luckily, again, I was in a spot to pull off to the side, turn the car off and made it home okay. This car has a brand new engine. Upon reading here and some other things online it seems the stabilitrak has numberous reports of this same thing. Luckily I have been in a spot where it didn't become dangerous and I knew what to do based on reading here. I use my Yukon for work so can't have this happening and it's dangerous for myself, my kids and other drivers on the road if they happen to be behind me when it happens. Hopefully with enough complaints something can be done to fix this issue. I have included a pic of the symbol that illuminated on my dashboard when this happened.

55 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/13/2019

Unintended surge of acceleration. Will happen randomly about once a week when under slight acceleration. It feels like the accelerator goes full throttle for one second, causing a huge surge of acceleration, almost plowing into the car in front of us multiple times. The last time it happened while in reverse. Dealer examined the car and said there are no codes stored in the computer and couldn't replicate the problem. We get the car back tomorrow and my file drives it with our 4 kids, so this is vary scary (for the safety of our family and others on the road). Dealer suggested if we don't trust the car, we can have cameras installed in the car to capture the problem so we can show them. We have very low confidence in this car as it is dangerous to drive. The fist time we noticed this was in the am, so the engine was still cold. Started accelerating slightly down our residential street and the car went to full throttle on it's own for about 1-2 seconds (rpms sky rocketed). The second time was about a week later when my wife was driving the kids to school in the morning (again with a cold engine). She pulled out of an intersection and the heavy SUV went to full throttle on its' own again, almost causing her to lose control. The problem presents itself about once or twice a week. The last time she was backing out in reverse when this occurred, causing her to almost crash into something. Dealer can't find the problem but the problem exists. The only thing in common between all occurrence is that the engine was cold, the ac was on, and that we were under light acceleration when the symptom presented itself.

56 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/09/2019

Usually occurs within a few minutes of starting the car. While in gear and creating forward or in reverse, the car surges at a high rpm all by itself, almost causing an accident. It happens regularly (about 2 times a week) but problem cannot be recreated in demand. The car has the 6. 2l motor and 10 speed transmission. This defect will end up hurting or killing someone. My wife still drives around this brand new vehicle, but I'm scared to let her continue driving it.

57 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

58 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 04/10/2019

My GMC youkon denali has brake lights that are known to dealers to fail. Yet there is not a recall. I looked on the inter net and saw that there has been this problem since 2015 to 2018. Because of a joint that was soldered instead of a wire. I know why when I brought it in for recall that the service man looked at my stop lights.

59 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/10/2019

The Yukon's automatic transmission can get very jerky when accelerating from a stop, especially when the engine is cold (first 10-15 mins of driving). City driving seems to be the main environment when the transmission jerkiness occurs. The jerkiness started subtly around 75,000 miles, and now at almost 100k miles, the issue has only gotten more severe. Accelerating from a stop uphill and around turns are times when it's more prone to jerk. The best way I can describe it would be a lag in gear shifting caused by some type of delay the car's electronic control system. The lag has occurred so violently at times, it feels like I've been in a rear-end collision. I would hesitate to allow babies to ride in this car due to their inability to brace when these jerks occur; there's definitely enough force to cause whiplash to a baby. I would say the jerk happens 2-3 times every trip, even if I slowly accelerate to prevent quick gear shifts from happening.

63 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

I have had issues with the transmission and power of the car for over two years. I have contacted GMC and have followed everything that GMC have requested for me to do with a vehicle. I have taken the car to four different dealerships, have had everything done with it from flushing it three to four times and have had torque converter replaced the control valve body replace. Recall for the brake pedal was also done. After everything the car is in worst condition at the moment.

64 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2003 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/17/2018

I have a 2003 Yukon denali I purchased and it has given me the reduced engine power light and almost had a few accidents on the highway because it drops the speed to 20 mph also it has the check engine codes as p0120 and p2135 I have been aware that gm has not found a solution to this and wanted to see if there is any recalls as I am very afraid of being in a very serious accident with my children in the car.

65 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

Adaptive cruise control system is not properly designed to recognize vehicles that are adjacent to the traveling lane and not directly in front of the vehicle. When traveling on the interstate with adaptive cruise engaged, we came around a bend in the road approaching an entrance ramp. There was a slow moving vehicle on the entrance ramp which was apparently identified by the adaptive cruise system as being in front of our vehicle in the same lane. The adaptive cruise caused our vehicle to brake violently while still in the bend in the road, which in turn caused us to swerve into the next lane where there was a car traveling adjacent, but just behind us. This was a very unexpected series of events, and could have resulted in catastrophic consequences had the adjacent car been any closer at the time. This is a major flaw in the adaptive cruise system. And it is compounded by the fact that the adaptive cruise system cannot be switched over to a manually controlled more traditional cruise system. This is a severe design flaw with the GMC Yukon. Some of this could be remedied by issuing a firmware update that allows the driver to disengage the adaptive cruise and switch to a more traditional cruise control method. But GMC has no interest in providing this update, even with multiple message board threads talking about the dangers of the adaptive cruise control.

66 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/18/2018

While driving at various speeds, the vehicle dash displayed numerous and random error messages: (wording may not be exact) service front collision system. Front radar blocked. Front collision system unavailable. These messages indicated a problem with the forward collision avoidance system. The weather on the particular day varied. Errors occurred at various speeds. This hazard can cause serious harm if the sensors detect an imminent forward crash in error and apply the brakes in traffic. This dangerous situation is likely to result in serious personal injury or death. The root cause was determined to be related to an additional failure mode identified in the oily substance leaking from the control box mounted on the front windshield. This oily substance was identified by the vehicle owner and reported to the dealer.

67 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 11/17/2017

While in motion my vehicle shuts completely off. This is in the middle of traffic at times. It displays warnings that stabilitrack has been disabled and shuits down everything electrical. At some points it doesnt shut completely down, but instead hesitates and then picks back up. This happens in various situations whether it be on the highway, turning, or driving city roads.

68 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2006 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/16/2017

My vehicle was in motion driving on the freeway at 70 mph when all of the sudden my car lost power to 30 mph all the way down to 5 mph. I pressed on the accelerator trying to gain speed without success the car did not accelerate more than 30 mph, no matter how much I pressed on the accelerator. When I looked down at the dashboard I saw two warning lights go off "stability sys disabled" followed by "reduced engine power" luckily I was able to move to safety. The road was dry and no bumps to disable stability. The traction control in this vehicle is located far from my steering wheel so I know I did not accidently hit the traction control by accident. After I was able to pull over I was advised to hit the traction control button to see if that would fix the error in the dash. That did not work. I immediately took it to the dealer concern for my safety and that of my family. The dealer has had my for several days returned my car back once stating that it was due to master air flow sensor along with the air filter once those parts were replaced I picked up my car as soon as I picked up the car and drove it around the corner I experienced the same issue. I drove it back to the dealer at 5 mph as I was not able to go any faster no mater how much I pressed on the accelerator. 2nd time the car was returned to me I was told it was just the butterfly in the throttle body and that it was replaced for a new one. I was driving away and got just a little farther than the first time when I got the same error message again I drove it back to the dealer and they told me it was a faulty throttle body they replaced that but its still having issues. I believe this to be a safety hazard while driving I want this noted in case there is a major accident with fatalities.

69 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/09/2017

Over the past four months my 2012 Yukon has been hesitating / stopping. I have accelerate into in the intersection and vehicle hesitated almost causing an accident. The check engine light has came on and off numerous times, flashing stabilization and traction switching on and off. I have taken it to the dealership at least five times each time they said there was nothing wrong with my vehicle second to the last time they stated I needed a new fuel pump which they replaced and the problem continued with in two days and continues to this day . The last time I took it in they stated there is an issue with gm vehicles from 2013 to 2017 causing stalling hesitation lack of performance in a setting in high ambient temperatures and there is no fix for it . I believe this is a great safety risk for individuals who live in high climate areas .
