Car suddenly shuts off on its own while driving; all electrical goes off except for check engine light, abs light, or none at all. Happened 3 or 4 times, sometimes at freeway speed, car restarted from neutral a few minutes later. Taken to Honda dealer & diagnosed with a faulty transmission module, replaced for $450. Yet the problem just recurred not long after that repair. This creates a serious road hazard & potential for crash & serious injury, as suddenly & without warning, the vehicle shuts down & cannot be controlled with any acceleration, power steering or normal braking. This vehicle has always been maintained meticulously, since new, per recommended schedule with Honda dealerships. Browsing the internet shows this to be an unusually common, serious & difficult to diagnose issue with Hondas & acuras from ~1997-2002.

Honda Accord lx 1998.
While driving, the engine got shut, steering got completely locked (can't do any left-right). The key light got on. All other lights were off. Luckily there was no car behind my car. Else I would have met severe accident. I stopped the car, restarted it, and reached home safely. I am scared now to drive anymore.
1998 Honda Accord does not always start and stalls while driving. I called american Honda and they claimed, based on my VIN number, that the recall issued for this problem does not apply to my particular car. It makes no sense that I have this problem if, as Honda claims, this defect does not exist in my car.

I had car accident and two days after I had picked up car form body shop I notice that a a noise . I called the insurance and the rep. Said to take car back to shop. I did and from what the insurance and we're told the car just needed an alingment. , I remember hearing a loud heavy sound on left front end of car on passenger side and all of the sudden the car looses control . I rememberd the vehicle was on its roof I, felt arm getting burn by fire . It seemed that the roof of vehicle was not protected. And did not server it purpose . My speed was about 25 30 mph . The left front side and wheel were sticking out from body frame of car . The same side where shop had made, repairs and the arm axel had been replaced just few days before per insurance request . The insurance had used and after market in invoice . If we check all of the parts the car had put in and the extend of the damage and the wheel not align with body of car along with the loud sound and jolt I felt could only show the neglect and the lack of safety .
