Paint problems of the 1998 Honda Accord

Six problems related to paint have been reported for the 1998 Honda Accord. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Paint problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2017

Clear coat and paint has started to chip and peal. This is a common problem with this make year and model and Honda is aware. To no fault of my own needing to get this problem fixed ASAP. At one time a large piece of the clear coat came off and hit my windshield and stuck to my windshield and I had to pull over to remove it from my windshield to avoid having this hazard to myself and others.

2 Paint problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2008

The paint on my 1998 Honda Accord has faded off. The paint has come off on the top and the trunk of the car. The paint has just faded away.

3 Paint problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2006

Paint oxidizing on 1998 Honda Accord.

4 Paint problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2003

I have a 1998 hunter green Honda Accord ex and the paint is fading on the top of the car. Is this a factory defect because I have seen several hunter green Accords with its paint fading in the same area as mine or either on the trunk.

5 Paint problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2002

Clear coat paint fading and peelling on roof, hood, and trunk of 1998 Honda Accord ex. Seems to be a common problem with the black and the green 98 Accords.

6 Paint problem

Failure Date: 04/09/1999

Clearcoat and paint faded on roof. Dealer had repainted. 6 months later same thing happened to trunk. Dealer had repainted again. A few months later clearcoat was coming off the doors. Dealer refused to repaint. Said this has never happened before.
