Possible takata recall, instrumentational panel light on at purchase of vehicle. Dealer stated part of a recall and dealership could repair. Now road ready.
I was driving at a very slow speed of 15 mph on 11/21/14. I tapped a curb in a parking lot and the airbags deployed. An officer was called to the scene and was also surprised that the airbags deployed without any front-end damage or with such a slight impact. A mechanic also verified that there was no under-carriage damage and was also puzzled as to why this happened. We contacted Honda of America who was not only rude but was not the least bit helpful. We are hoping for some assistance, especially in light of the vast recall of the takata airbags which is what we have. Due to the age of our car, we dropped the collision coverage and the airbags were considered to be covered under collision. We are not financially able to purchase another vehicle and this is a very expensive repair. Thank you so much for any help you can give us.
The 1999 Honda Accord was at a red light. As I made a left turn, I could smell some type of fume coming from the steering. Then saw srs light came on and within about 10 seconds, the driver's airbag deployed for no odd reason. The car as never been in any accident, all parts are original as day 1 when we bought it new. Honda dealership in renton said they did not find any electrical system in their test that could cause this malfunction, why it malfunction is still in the air? they are telling me to file a claim with my insurance company. Again, Honda said no reason why the bag deployed and no electrical malfunction. I want to report this so others will be safe.

The vehicle was towed to a salvage facility, but the cause of the failure is currently unknown. The failure and current mileages were 200,000.
The srs light on my 1999 Honda Accord is continually on. I was told by the dealer that my airbag wouldn't deploy if this light is on. Cost of the "diagnostics and repair" is outrageous.
The horn failed to work when needed. Vehicle was taken to the dealership, and technician determined that horn and the air bag were designed on the steering wheel. They need to remove the air bag to fix the horn, and this will cost $2500 at consumer's expense. The consumer requested that the manufacturer pay for the repair since it appeared to be a manufacturing defect.
Consumer states that while driving the consumer was driving at 50 mph and the consumer was involved in an accident and none of the air bags deployed. Nlm.
Consumer states that the horn does not sound. Dealer said that the air bag was the problem. Please provide further information.
