Paint problems of the 1999 Honda Accord

Five problems related to paint have been reported for the 1999 Honda Accord. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Paint problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2012

During the regularly scheduled maintenance for this vehicle, I was told the sub-frame had eroded to the point where the vehicle was too dangerous to drive. As this was a northern car, I expected a certain amount of rust and there had been some paint corrosion. The mechanics stated they had never seen such an extreme erosion of the sub-frame and suggested I contact Honda to determine if this had been reported and recalled, particularly since it had the potential to be such a hazard. Honda stated they have not heard of such defects and there have been no recalls. I do not understand how this is possible since the sub-frame should not rust through, particularly since it jeopardizes the integrity of the entire vehicle operation.

2 Paint problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

The clear coat/paint is peeling/wearing off of my 1999 Honda Accord. It is causing the vehicle to look horrible. Thousands of other Honda owners are having the same issue. Clearly this is a result of defective paint. I previously owned a 1993 Accord and at 196,000 miles, the paint looked a hundred times better then the paint on my 1999. To have the car repainted, it will cost over $1000. This is unacceptable and Honda should be held accountable for this defect and the paint be recalled.

3 Paint problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

The clear coat on my '99 Honda Accord is faded and the paint has started to come off in many spots.

4 Paint problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2005

Paint faded on hood, top of roof and trunk.

5 Paint problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2004

The clear coat/paint is peeling/wearing off of my 1999 Honda Accord. It is causing the vehicle to look horrible. Thousands of other Honda owners have the same problem, you see the same car with same color (green) on the road. If I have the car repainted, it will cost over $1000. This is unacceptable and Honda should be held accountable for this defect and the paint be recalled. Eric mccracken po box 957 lake junaluska nc 28745.
