Four problems related to structure have been reported for the 1999 Honda Accord. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
These are 2 complaints, first one is the power steering leak on my 1999 Accord, after hearing about possible fire from fluid leak on newer models I was concerned that this could be an issue with older models also. The second is not a safety issue but a quality issue inregards to the clear coat coming off the car. It would be nice if Honda would step up and address these concerns from loyal Honda owners.
We have a black 1999 Honda Accord that has a severe paint/clear coat issue. We have taken great care of this vehicle, keeping it garaged and washed and waxed on a regular basis. We contacted Honda regarding this issue and they told us that "it is our responsibility as the owners to take care of our car". They also told us that because of the age of the car, paint issues 'happen' and they don't offer service on that old of a car. That is ridiculous. We just had it in to fix the ignition that was under a recall, and they tell us that they don't offer service on that old of a car? my wife and I are extremely frustrated at how we have been treated over this. The car has a defect in the clear coat finish that was backed up by our local service tech who said it wasn't sprayed on thick enough, thus the problem.
There were problems with the thermostat, brakes, engine light was intermittent, overheating, squealing while driving, the windshield molding at the upper left corner of the window, thumping noise while driving, maintenance light was inoperative, steering wheel vibrated, the abs light was intermittent, and the tires were replaced early. The catalytic converter was replaced three times due to deterioration. The trunk latch, timing belt, balancer belt, and the power door actuator were replaced, the parking brake was adjusted, the are rest and axle seal was replaced, the seat belt failed to retract, and the windows rattled.
