The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord ex. The contact stated that the vehicle would not restart after it was turned off. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who advised him that the pcm and the fuel pressure regulator needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired for the fuel pressure regulator. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
After driving my 2000 Honda v6 coupe for 30 minutes or more, it would have problems starting if shut off for about 20 minutes. It would start and then stall. The only way to get it started is to give it gas and shift into gear quickly which is dangerous. Also there was a TSB 00-024 for this and I got it done for close to $710. This really isn't fair as I didn't do anything wrong to have this issue. It is clearly a case of a manufacturing defect.
Egr port valve ,air bag light.
Surge on acceleration. From a cold start my car excels normally. If make a stop for a few minutes or a couple of hours get in and it accelerates to about 20-25mph and dies. If I hold the pedal it will accel after a few second, if I pump the pedal a couple of time it will accel. Cruising at 65+ I can feel a slight jerking. This all started after getting a check engine light and code po131 to replace the primary O2 sensor. A new sensor was the oem equivalent from autozone. If I disconnect the O2 sensor the problem goes away. Car is well maintained and has 228,000 miles.
Hesitation.
The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. The contact stated when driving the vehicle in hot weather the engine would shut off, and restart independently the failure would occur without the key being in the ignition. The dealer advised there was a technical service bulletin available for the failure but no recalls. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.
I have difficult starting the Honda, it happened more than ten times. It only happen when the car is warm - never a cold morning. You can force it to start by putting more gas thru the accelerator. But when I put the car in drive it will die on the rolling. This almost caused me an accident. I took the car to the dealer, the Honda dealer cannot find any thing wrong with it. I search on the database and it might be related to a vapor lock issue with the Honda Accord 2000 v6. (odi-719977). Please investigate and issue some hazard warning to the public.
Strong fuel emission in cab of vehicle.
Honda admits a problem with the 2000 redesign of their v6 engines. This causes a vapor lock type problem, which has caused my car to be difficult to start on 7 occasions. On one occasion, the car started but then died again as I backed out of a parking space, which could have resulted in an accident if there had been oncoming traffic. Honda told me that they fixed the problem during a service on January 31, 2000. When I reported that the car still has problems, I was told that the previous fix was not the definitive fix after all. They say they are waiting for epa approval of the definitive fix. If this is true, they should be forced to issue a recall, not just a service bulletin, since a safety hazard exists when the car dies in traffic.
