1 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2007

The contact owns a 2003 Honda Accord. On March 3, 2007 the brake smalfunctioned. A mechanic diagnosed the failure as the rear brake drums. 2 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2006

Consumer 2003 Accord brakes pulsate and grind with no warning light of brake problems. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the rotors. The consumer found out that this was the third set of rotors replaced on the vehicle. The previous owner had the rotors replaced. Six months after the rotors were replaced the consumer heard grinding noises and felt the brakes pulsating when pressed.

3 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2005

I'm leasing my 2003 Honda Accord lx. At 20,000 miles my brakes were pulsating and steering wheel was vibrating when braking at 55mph. Took the car to the dealer to have the rotors re-surfaced. Now at 40,000 miles I'm experiencing the same problem. Honda service says it's the way I'm driving and that if I re-surface rotors again I will continue to have the same problem due to my driving. After doing some research on the internet, I don't think it's my driving but a manufacturers defect. There are many customers who are experiencing this same problem. I don't feel safe driving.

4 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2005

The contact stated since ownership of the vehicle the front brake rotors have been changed twice. When driving grinding noise came from the brakes. Also, the brakes pulsated. Intermittently the brake pedal will have to be depressed to the floor the stop the vehicle. The manufacturer has been contacted they have determined there was no brake problem.

5 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2005

The contact stated the brake rotors failed multiple times. When the brakes were applied there was a grinding noise. Sometimes the brakes will not work unless full pressure was applied. The was extended stopping distance when the failure occurred. The dealership replaced the rotors due to warping. The problem returned after the replacement. The rotors were replaced before by the previous owner.

6 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2004

The brakes grinded, and there was extended stopping distance when braking were used on snow covered roads. Vehicle has been to the dealer on three separated occasions, and they were unable to locate the cause of the problem. Also, dealer advised the consumer to take the vehicle to a dealer in the snow area, and let them inspect the brakes. No inspection was made at this time.

7 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2004

The contact owns a 2003 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at 60 -65 mph applied the brakes and there was vibration in the steering wheel. There was minor vibration in the steering at lower speeds, but there was more extreme vibration at higher speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealership to see what the problem with the vehicle was. The consumer did not know exactly what waswrong with the vehicle but felt it could be something within the brakes or rotors. The manufacturer stated that there iwasno recall for this vehicle. T has not had the brakes or any components replaced since he has purchased the vehicle.

8 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2004

2003 Honda Accord exhibited grinding brake noise when brand new (9-03). Has been in for brake service 6 times. Was told by service manager at cary auto park Honda that Honda was aware of the defective warped rotors and planned to recall them in the fall of 2003. My rotors were replaced with more defective rotors while waiting for the recall that still has yet to happen. On 10-16-04, I had the rotors inspected by an independent mechanic who said that they were most definitely defective. I am experiencing an ever increasing amount of grinding and shuddering when applying the brakes. I want my "lemon" repaired correctly. I purchased a new car with the understanding that it was free of defects and any defects found would be corrected under warranty.

9 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2004

Warped rotors. Brake pads need to be replaced. Brakes have been pulsating since around 15000 miles. I have taken the car to dealership on several occasions. On second occasion they produced a memo which stated that several people complained of the vibration and that it was normal for the rotors to heat up and cool down, but they are not warped. Today they told us that it is due to harsh driving and driving in the canyon. They are telling my husband that brake pads and rotors are not covered past 12,000 miles and Honda does not cover a "wear" item. We currently have 35,000 miles. So far the repair is going to cost 360. 00 with a discount.

10 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2004

When applying brakes there is a growling sound and vibrations. Vehicle has 30,000 miles is under 100,000 mile warranty. Was told by Honda that this model year has soft brake pads and therefore soft rotors. The brakes have 45% wear According to Honda which made the rotor warp. They say not covered under warranty. Have done nothing yet.

11 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2004

When the brake pedal was depressed there was a metal to metal noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealership two days later. The dealership indicated that the rotors needed to be replaced because they couldn't be resurfaced.

12 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2004

Rotors were defective. They had to be serviced at 12,000 miles. Consumer stated he previously owned another Honda and the same problem existed. The material was inferior. Manufacturer was notified.

13 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2004

My 2003 Honda Accord ex needed new rotors and brake pads at 11,000 miles. I do not ride the brake and am rarely (maybe once every 2-3 months) in stop and go traffic. I was charged $350 by my dealer to get this problem fixed. I started to wonder why my car had this problem. After internet research, I am finding out I am not the only one with this problem. In fact, it's quite common and something needs to be done.

14 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2004

I filed a previous complaint #10075304. I had my rotors resurfaced at 30500 by an independent mechanic who said they are warped. My warranty is up. Now have 35000 on vehicle and brakes are terrible again.

15 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2004

I have a 2003 Honda Accord ex v6. The car is currently in the shop, again, for the same problem. There is vibration of the steering wheel while driving the car. The car only has 28,000 highway miles on the car, I drive 80 miles each day, and already there have been 3 sets of rotors on the car. There is an inch thick of brake dust on the front wheels. The last time they replaced the rotors, I drove it 500 miles in one week and had to send the car back in. This is an ongoing problem and from what I have read from the complaints about this, this is a common thing to happen on these vehicles.

16 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2004

Strong vibration when braking on 2003 Honda Accord after 16000 miles. Dealer specified that pads and rotors were fine. After demanding that something had to be done, dealer resurfaced rotors and replaced pads as "good faith", but indicated that they were not responsible in the future. . . Despite number of complaints regarding rotors on 2003 model. I expect this issue will reappear since other complaints suggest an issue with the rotor itself.

17 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2004

The brakes pulsate when applied. . . . Already changed the pads twice still the same problem, rotors were replaced, then turned also. The clutch will stick when the vehicle has been operated for a period of time. The key is disconnect communication with the car, causing everything to be shut off. Dealer checked and said nothing was wrong.

18 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2004

Had rotors resurfaced at 5000 miles as warped--Honda certified garage/dealership tried saying I had tightened the lug nuts too tight?! brakes again into shop at 17000 miles for replacement. My warranty just expired and have 30300 miles on it and there is still a problem with my brakes. Problem is extremely noticeable at speeds over 40 mph when applying brakes--car feels like it will run right off the road. Also, big problem with water leaking into front windows when there is the slightest bit of rain and have the windows cracked. Water gets into the power window buttons. This appears to be a design flaw.

19 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2004

Have brake problems with a 2003 Honda Accord ex. I had the brakes replaced at 24,000 miles and still had problems and was told to have the rotors replaced because they are warped. This seems to be too early in mileage to have these type of repeat problems.

20 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2004

2003 Accord v6 constant rotor service. Rotor service at 15,000 (machined, was not charged), 30,000 (front replaced rotors and pads paid by dealer, rear machined & new pads paid by me, 35,000 rotors need repair (service scheduled for 6/8 and I am not paying again!). I had a Mazda prior to this auto with 80,000 miles and the rotors were only serviced once within that time.

21 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2004

Barke rotors warped on my 2003 Accord with only 10,000 miles on them- dealer turned the rotors and put on new pads; however, there was no notification from Honda regarding the problem- this is a safety issue- all affected cars should be given new rotors.

22 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2004

Started feeling vibration when braking at 45mph before 10,000 miles. Technician looked at it, determined the rotors were warped, but brake pads were fine. After research, found this was a recurring problem among owners of 2003 Accord, v6 and 4-cyl. (mine is 4cyl). Seems like Honda has a problem!.

23 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2004

Purchased car new in Nov 2002 from college park Honda in maryland. Took car to Honda of bowie for second oil change and tire rotation at 6349 miles on may 10,2003. Returned car to Honda of bowie 7 days later for vibration in steering wheel while driving above 40 mi per hour. Dealership balanced front tires at no charge. Returned car to Honda of bowie on june28, 2003 with 8287 miles for steering wheel vibration when braking. I was told the front rotors were slightly warped and dealer resurfaced rotors free of charge. Problem reoccurred at around 15,000 miles but did not get car in for service until mileage was 18,003 on April 9, 2004. Took it to college park Honda where I purchased and explained the problem. Before looking at car service rep told me it was probably due to my driving habits (lots of stop and go). I have had the same commute for over 10 years and never had this kind of problem before. I said I'd be very unhappy if I had to replace the brakes at 18,000 miles. Service rep said it was very common to replace brakes and rotors at 18,000 miles. I reiterated my unhappiness if I was going to have to pay for the repair. I believed it should be covered under warranty. After inspecting the brakes I was told the front rotors were glazed and the pad were cracked. They resurfaced the rotors (that's twice in 10,000 miles) and replaced the pads under warranty as a "one time courtesy". The problem came back within 7 days of the repair. I have an appointment to take my car back today ( 4 weeks to the day since they worked on it). I believe the rotors are defective or have been resurfaced too much and need to be replaced. I am expecting that they will try to tell me this is somehow my fault and expect me to pay for the repair. I believe from reading all the other complaints which are so similar to mine, that the 2003 Honda Accords have a brake problem that the company does not want to address.

24 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2004

03 Accord lx brake rotors warped. When stopping there is a vibration in the steering and brake pedal. Brake pads also squeek and make grinding noise. Will bring to dealer for assessment.

25 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2004

Consumer purchased vehicle brand new, and when he drove it brakes overheated and vehicle vibrated. Brake rotors were warped. Took vehicle to the dealer, and was told that this vehicle had a different type of brakes, and they needed to be specially ordered. It took a long time to get this particular kind of brakes. Then, mechanic drove vehicle , but was not able to find anything wrong. Consumer had his vehicle back, and the problem with the brakes became worse. Consumer maintained that Honda knew about these brakes and were not doing anything about them.

26 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2004

Within a few months of ownership after buying this car new my wife began complaining that the car pulsed under braking. After about 2 years and ~ 25k miles the pulsing/vibration got much, much worse so I took the vehicle to the dealer while car was still under warranty. The dealer told me I needed to have rotors turned and new pads installed, and that it would cost me almost $200. The dealer did not tell me Honda issued a service TSB (TSB# 03-069) regarding this problem and that the service should be done under warranty per Honda. I never received any notice of a TSB from Honda telling me they were having issues with brakes on this vehicle. As I was unaware of the brake problems specific to this vehicle I did not have the service performed at that time because I thought the dealer was lying to me as I have never had a car that had brake rotor problems at on only a few thousand miles. Not telling me of the problem was negligent of the dealer and manufacturer, someone could have been hurt or killed if the brakes failed. To try and solve the problem I first took the car to a tire shop and had the wheels rebalanced which cost me $50, that did not solve the problem so I spent another $90 on new brake pads which I did myself, which also did not help. . . Anyway now at 47k miles the vibration that occurs when needing to stop from highway speed is so severe the whole car shakes, it is unsafe to drive. I researched the problem on internet forums and this is how I found out about the TSB, but my car is now far out of warranty, so I now must have it fixed myself, and it will probably start to happen again. This is a safety issue and should have been recalled, and replaced with updated and safe parts. I have never had any brake rotor problems on any car I ever owned before this car. Honda's solution (even if done free under warranty) of turning rotors is a temporary fix at best and is unacceptable as the problem would have recurred later.

27 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2004

My '03 4d Accord, purchased in bentonville,ar, has required replacement or machining of the front brake rotors four times due to warping (resulting in pulsating braking). Each repair has lasted about 5000 miles. I've logged about 400k miles in Hondas in the last 14yrs and have never had this problem; accustomed to going at least 150k mi (before trading) with no rotor problems.

28 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2004

Rotors warped after 8000 miles. Had to replace pads and rotors at 15000 miles. Dealer admitted there was an issue with brakes on this car, but Honda won't do anything about it.

29 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2004

Honda 2003 Accord v6 sedan. Brakes pulsating, after only 12,000 miles. Brought into shop, paid to have resurfaced. 2,000 miles later doing it again. Im dealing with dealership now. Reading all sorts of complaints online that its a defect. Its the drivers it's the car defect.

30 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2003

While applying the brakes brake pedal went to the floor. This caused the vehicle to skid into a guard rail. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for analysis, and mechanic noticed that both rotors needed to be replaced due to corrosion.

31 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2003

Bought brand new 2003 Honda Accord ex-v6 in 9/03. By 12/03 at 4700 miles, the front brakes were not working. Per TSB 03-069 Honda replaced the front brake pads with "new" part number 45022-sdb-a10. Two months later, 2/04, the car had brake problems again at 7400 miles. This time Honda "resurfaced" the rotors and said the pads were fine. How can pads be fine if they are harming the rotors? the car is still unsafe when braking from highway speeds. Honda says that it is my fault! I have been driving since 1989, never gone through brakes in under 30k miles. It is now 6/04, car has 11,500 miles, and the brakes still don't work right! Honda needs to replace pads and rotors with redesigned safe parts, ASAP!.

32 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2003

Recurring brake rotor warped problem on 2003 Honda Accord ex sedan. . Problem first noted around 18k miles. . Dealer resurfaced brakes at 30k miles, after complaint was issued. . About 1500 miles later problem recurred. . Symptom appears to come from front brakes, at the end of braking a metallic shudder occurs for the last 2 seconds. . Intermittently upon freeway exiting the problem seems to last much longer, shudder causes the driver to question if the brakes will work or not. . This is the 6th Honda I have owned in the past 14 years, and the first one to exhibit such behavior. . I have read other complaints, posts on the internet whereas many drivers are having the same complaint on this newly redesigned model Accord. Some posts have made the suggestion that the caliper is the actual defective part of the braking system, all I know, is the warping rotor is causing a very serious and dangerous driving situation.

33 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2003

Brakes on 2003 Honda Accord making really bad clunking and screeching noises. Honda issued a TSB-03-069. But, dealer says my car is normal. I've never had a car which made so much braking noises. I've also heard that many other Accord owners are having the same problem. This should be a safety issue, because the brakes feel as though they're going to fail everytime they start making noises. New cars braking systems shouldn't clunk and screech like this. Makes me scared to press down on the brakes hard.

34 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2003

My 2003 Honda Accord has 13,800 miles on it. Since the front rotors are warping, it already had these replaced once and resurfaced once. These repairs tend to last about 3000 miles before the symptoms of the problem return (vibration when braking at highway speeds, and pulsating stops at slow speeds).

35 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2003

2003 Honda Accord coupe ex v6 mt w/nav. Experienced brake pedal pulsations and steering wheel shaking when braking. Front rotors have been resurfaced twice, at 7000 and again at 15600. This looks like a recurrent problem in the new generation Accord's. Must be faulty brake/rotor design.
