I have called the dealerships in my area for a recall repair because my car inspection indicated that my vehicle has three dangerous safety recalls. 5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2018

My daughter drives a 2003 Honda Accord. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently. She stomped on the brake pedal and felt soft underfoot. The brakes slowed the car but did not stop the car. My daughter took an immediate right turn into an empty parking lot and pulled the keys from the car. The car coasted to a stop. In addition, when the engine was turned off and restarted, the rpms accelerated while the vehicle was in park. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the cause of the failure was undetermined. The dealer says that they can not find anything wrong with the car and that mechanics drove the car and were unable to reproduce the problem.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2015

I purchased this vehicle approximately 2 years ago. Since I bought it, the brakes have been "soft. " in order to come to a complete stop I have to press the brake pedal to the floor. It feels squishy. While I am stopped, the car wants to creep forward if I release the pedal even the smallest amount from the floor. I have had the brakes bled once with no improvement. This has been going on for as long as I have owned the vehicle.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2013

Naples, FL airport road and davis blvd. I was leaving a meeting and headed northbound on airport road at 3:55pm on Tuesday, October 15th. I was approaching the stoplight at the intersection on airport road and davis blvd. When I tried to break, the rpm's on my Honda Accord rose from 1000 to 2000 to 3000 and I noticed as I continued to break the rpm's kept increasing and the car kept rolling even though I was pressing on the break as hard as I could, I was literally standing on the break. Finally I was so afraid I was going to hit the person in front of me that I pulled the emergency break on and then the rpm's went up to 5000. The car finally stopped and I immediately shut it off, I was inches from the bumper in front of me. I waited about five seconds and turned the car back on and it went right up to 5000 rpm's. I then jumped out of the car and asked the person behind me to help me. He turned the car on again and again it revved up to 5000 rpm's. He kept pushing the gas pedal with the car in park and eventually it came "unstuck. " I have never experienced this in my 18 years of driving, not sure what to do except I know I need to take it to the dealership tomorrow. I am terrified to drive this vehicle and terrified someone will get hurt if this happens again. This needs to be recalled immediately and something needs to be done, this is extremely unsafe, please do something.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2012

I bought my Honda from the dealership 06/23/12, 1 owner completely serviced through the dealership then traded in at same dealership. When bought it had 101,793 miles, timing belt was done at 90k and power steering pump. Not even month later I had to replace throttle body. I've always felt something wrong with the transmission after bought car. On 11/10/2012 out of no where when I was getting off the freeway my car started to down shift really hard, was jerking while driving and then was stuck in first gear, luckily I was less than a mile from my house so I drove home then parked it and no indicator lights on. The next morning (today) called a friend who works on Hondas and he looked at it and said the transmission fluid was very dirty and practically gone. Drove around the block twice and transmission was working fine. Then later drove about 8 miles and started hard down shifting and was stuck in first gear. Then parked and tried to put my car in reverse and it not move acted like was in neutral. Put it in park, turned it off then started it again and put it into reverse, reverse now worked. After that I had my friend look under the hood at the transmission fluid and it was practically empty again. So I went to the store got more transmission fluid and put some in and tried to drive back home. Everything seemed fine for about another 8 miles then it started to hard down shift all over again. After another 3 miles the car completely freaked out check engine light finally came on along with the abs, tsc, and the light showing I was in drive started flashing. So I pulled over and put the car in park and everything was still doing the same thing, including the light indicating I was in drive even thought I was in park and the park gear light was on. So I turned off my car, sat for a min then restarted. Driving slow needed to stop and brakes started to go out.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2012

I am the first owner of 2003 Accord, ex. My car has 113,000 miles on it. Its a well maintained car I kept for years. I must say that this car is excellent, however, there are signs that some parts are not functioning really well lately. For the past few months, I noticed my tcs sign on the dashboard comes on and off together with the triangle sign in orange. It started coming on after I turned off the ignition to my first destination and after just like 10-15 minutes and start my engine again, it will come on after driving for next 5-10 minutes. Also, just two weeks ago I noticed that the gear gets stuck on "park" mode and I have to press the handle before it gets released. I am not sure if the gear has something to do with the tcs and triangle showing on the dashboard. Also, I noticed my car has an issue with brakes when driving while raining. I have to step on the brakes a few times when its slippery to be able to come to a full stop. It's so scary that I almost hit the car in front of me a few times. I am lodging my complain so the manufacturer would take a look on this issue as I found all the complaints on tcs issue on 2003 Honda Accord ex online when I was trying to look for a solution on the same issue for my car.

Late April 2005, brake pedal went almost to the floor while trying to stop. Thought was going to strike vehicle ahead but at the last second the brakes seemd to catch and vehicle was able to stop. At that time tcm light came on. No one injured. Dealer could find no problem with tcm system and replaced front disc brakes and turned rotors. Vehicle had 27,700 miles at that time. Second and third occurrences were in mid November 2005. Same thing with pedal going almost to floor with brakes not engaging and at last minute they engaged with vehicle able to stop. Tcm light did not come on this time. Dealer could not find any problem with brake system, nor could he repeat problem in the 8 hours he had the vehicle. No repairs made. 16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2004

Complaint received via e-mail. I purchased a brand new car, and since then I have been back to the dealership numerous amounts of times for many problems. First problem was my brakes needed to be replaced at 4600 miles, but weren't replaced until 7700 miles 3. 5 months later due to back order. Currently, with 17,900 miles the brakes were grinding again. This is my 3rd Honda, and the worse one, yet likely my last. The second problem was that my right rear door was locked for 3 months. The dealer claimed that the problem was due to getting my windows tinted, but they attempted to fix three times, and was told the third time the problem only occurs if the temperature goes below 32 degrees. Since then the temperature has been over 32 degrees. I also have problems with sulfur odor coming from the exhaust, and was told that this was normal problem ,would go away with time. But as time goes by the odor gets worse, and smells like rotten eggs. Another problem with the car is the alignment has been off since I bought the car. I have had my own mechanic look at the car, and he believes the car won't align correctly because of the axles. The final problem with my piece of crap Honda is the driver seat isn't secure, it slides very little back and forth and side to side.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2004

The dealer replaced the front brakes at 6,800 miles. At 22,469 miles, dealer indicated to the consumer that she needs to replace the rear brakes at owner's expense.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2004

My 2003 Honda Accord has had a shudder when braking practically since I've owned the car-bought new in Feb. 2002. . My mechanic told me the brakes would still work and I could drive the car as long as I was aware of the problem. I thought the Honda dealership in omaha had damaged the brakes while fixing the abs system due to a recall. I now see it was probably a design flaw--since so many other owners of this model have experienced the same thing. Now the brakes need replacement, and I will ask for non-Honda parts. I previously owned a 1999 Honda Accord, and it was wonderful. This 2003 is not--in addition to the brake problem, the paint scratches easily and the interior is of very cheap materials, the ac smells bad when turned on, and the car has had electrical problems--many occuring after it was no longer under warrenty. I will not buy another Honda vehicle.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2004

Consumer purchased vehicle brand new, and when he drove it brakes overheated and vehicle vibrated. Brake rotors were warped. Took vehicle to the dealer, and was told that this vehicle had a different type of brakes, and they needed to be specially ordered. It took a long time to get this particular kind of brakes. Then, mechanic drove vehicle , but was not able to find anything wrong. Consumer had his vehicle back, and the problem with the brakes became worse. Consumer maintained that Honda knew about these brakes and were not doing anything about them.

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2004

1. Car was sold as a white Honda Accord, all bumpers are eggshell, dealer told me that is the color on all white Honda vehicals. 2. Car pulls to the right at all speeds, dealer told me that is the way all new Hondas are built to vere off the road rather then oncoming traffic. 3. Brakes make a loud clicking noise after in reverse to drive, dealer said that was the brakes resetting.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2003

When starting the car, then putting the car into reverse, the power brakes feel dead. There is almost no "play" in the brake pedal, causing the car to continue rolling. Brake pedal does not go down and car continues to go into reverse until I pump the brakes several times.

The brakes make the car shutter after only 7500 miles Honda of America won't fix it under warranty.

24 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2003

2003 Accord ex v6 mt. As others have reported here, and as reported elsewhere on the web and at owner forums, front brake system is defective. When braking lightly from interstate highway speeds (65-70) there is a powerful kickback into the steering wheel, especially on rough pavement. Loss of vehicle control is a serious risk. This problem has persisted from the first day I owned the car. I asked the dealership about this problem before I bought the car (based on reading complaints here, which were fewer than what I see today), and was told they had received zero complaints about front brake problems on 2003 Accords. The steering wheel vibration problem is absent on very smooth asphalt at any speed, so I wonder if it is other than a rotor issue. But in any event, having driven this car at 70 mph and hit the brakes rather modestly, I can tell you that this is not safe in my opinion. Had I known this, I would not have bought this car at any price. This vehicle travels 100 miles per day with 85 of those miles on open highway. It is the 12th vehicle I have owned and the 1st vehicle to have this hideous steering wheel shutter.

25 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2003

Brade pedal will not depress, resulting in inability to stop car.

26 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2003

My daughter and I were driving along a busy street when I attempted to slow down because the traffic ahead started slowing down for a red light and my car didn't respond to my braking. I was driving behind a bus and my car kept accelerating towards the bus. I threw the car in park - stripping the gears - and the car kept going. By some large miracle, there was a gap in the traffic coming in the opposite direction, so I turned into those lanes and traveled for a few feet before I came upon a one way street - not in my favor - it's another miracle no one was coming up that street, so I turned into the one way hoping to find some way to stop the car. The twists and turns took away some of the momentum and when I had gone about 1/3 of the way down the one way street, I yanked up the emergency brake and the car finally stopped. The car was towed into the dealership on Tuesday, may 6, 2003 and they called me on Wednesday, may 7th, to say that they ran all sorts of checks and found nothing wrong with the brakes. The fact that the brakes are now working does not mean that the brakes are good. My daughter and I can testify to that fact because we were the ones who faced that near death situation and I refuse to take a chance with our lives. There is a defect in the brakes and I would hate to start seeing reports of fatalities caused by this because they simply did not do extensive enough tests to find and fix the problem. The dealer is basically saying that since they can't find a problem, I have no choice but the take the car back. I absolutely cannot drive that car the way it is because I constantly visualize the outcome had I been traveling on a highway going 50 or 60 miles an hour. As it is, we are very lucky and thankful that everything worked in our favor and we did not crash. I don't want to become a statistic at which time they will break their necks to find and fix the problem. . . . Too late.

27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2003

I purchased this Honda Accord 2003 in April 2003. From the very beginning I noticed a rambling noise on the engine, foul smell, vibration on the steering wheel and squeaking brakes. Also when I brake the car seems to accelerate like the idle is too fast. I reported it immediately to my Honda dealer and they told me to take it to any Honda dealer. I took it to Honda in gleandale and after inspecting it they told me there was nothing wrong with the car. However the problems continued to I kept taking the car to different Honda dealers but none could come up with a solution. When I asked them to replace the vehicle they told me that they all had the same problems and that I had to learn to live with it. ! I feel totally frustrated by this situation and very unsafe driving this piece of crap.

28 Service Brakes problem

The brake pedal was very hard when applied. The brake pedal locked up. .

29 Service Brakes problem
