The contact owns a 2003 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph on interstate 64 east, traveling through a construction zone, an unknown vehicle passed him and asphalt flew in the air, striking and cracking the front windshield. After fifteen to twenty minutes, the side air bags deployed. Then, a few seconds later, the steering wheel and front air bags deployed without impact or warning. There were no warning lights illuminated. There was an unknown abnormal alarm that was engaged. The contact was able to pull over safely. The contact disconnected the battery. The contact sustained a chemical burn to the left arm, but medical attention was not provided. There was no fire, crash, or police report filed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, who opened a case, but no additional assistance was provided. The insurance company determined that the seat pretensioner failed to lock up. The failure mileage was approximately 86,822.

2 Windshield problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2004

A small stone hit my windshield today and seemed to cause more damage than it should have. I've been driving for many years and have had many rocks hit the windshield. Since owning my new car, this is the second time a small stone has hit my window (different place), and the first one also seemed to cause more damage then it should have. The first time, I didn't have to replace the windshield, but I will have to this time. It just seems very unusual to me with my experience as a driver. The car is rather new, and I'm two for two with stones causing damage, where as with my previous cars, most times no damage happened under similar circumstances.

3 Windshield problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2003

Driver side window and windshield are creaking when driving over left side bumps. Car taken to dealer who claims this is normal body flex which is incorrect. Research indicates that this is possibly due to a pillar clips or mohawk strip, however dealer inspected the a pillar and claims it is "tightened to spec".

4 Windshield problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2002

Windshield creaks in cold and dry weather, to the point that it sounds like it will crack in very cold weather. Dealer claims to not hear the problem. Noise was present when we drove car off lot.
