3 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2017

Wiper motor in my 2 door is not on recall but the 4 door is. Honda will not replace it even though it is the same issue that the 4 doors have. It is dangerous driving down the road in a torrential downpour when the wipers quit on you because you have zero visibility. I was forced again to stop on the side of the road on the way home in the dark so that I could be safer then driving. The rain is coming down hard and fast and the wiper motor gets wet then shorts out no matter what speed or what type of road. The recall is a shield placed on it unless it is corroded already then replaced. I want something done. Tired of stressing over all the poor quality issues Honda has had with this car. Including the recall on the recall for the airbag I just found because I came to see if my wiper motor had finally been recalled. This was an issue my son had when he owned the car also. The mileage on this vehicle just keeps going up and up because it has been an issue for years and nothing will be done about it. I am going to have to take it in for repairs and pay out of pocket because I just can't trust when it will not work again. Please help me I am disabled and don't have money for all this.

4 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2016

Windshield wiper motor stopped working. Driving on interstate 5 in seattle. Dark and rainy, wipers just stopped working. Car already had a recall to prevent this from happening. But still it happened. Failed recall. Had to replace motor for windshield at dealership. I have the old part. This shouldn't have had to happen. Really scary going 60 mph at night, with rain fall to suddenly lose the car wipers. Thank you god im alive and keep my glass clean.

5 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2016

Takata recall I was driving down the road when I lost control of my car. This resulted in my air bag being deployed as I came into collision with a guard rail on a city street. Luckily, only the passenger side airbag deployed. This resulted in my windshield being cracked.

6 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2016

I was driving in heavy rain and my windshield wipers stopped working and I could not see a thing. I was lucky enough that other cars went around me on the highway. I called my local Honda dealership and they stated that their is not a recall on my vehicle and wanted to charge me an outrageous amount to replace the wiper motor. There is currently a recall on this for 2003 Honda Accords no. Q78 when the motor gets wet it stops working but for some reason it does not include my vehicle VIN number. Also I had a leak in my power steering and took it in for the recall and they said it was the pump and ended up charging me $500. 00 to fix but it is still leaking.

9 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2014

This is actually the second time that the wipers have stopped working. First time occured over 2 years ago and had to have the wiper transmission changed. Again in middle of rain storm, wipers stopped. The motor was replaced last year because of recall, but they never replaced the wiper transmission. When the transmission was checked, the arm connection was off so the wipers would not work.

10 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2014

My wife was driving her 2003 Accord coupe to work today in heavy rain. All of a sudden the wipers did not work. My wife tried to adjust the speed from high to low and then intermittent but no luck. By the grace of god, she did get to work safely. I called Honda us and spoke to peter. I was told that there was a recall for the wiper motor on the 4 door Accord, but not the coupe about the issue. I asked to speak to a supervisor in Honda customer service but I was told that there was no supervisor available and that someone will call me within 24 hours. I would like Honda to fix the issue. I went on Honda forums and a lot of people have complained about the exact same problem with no possible solution. My question is why is the coupe model excluded from the recall? if there's a different motor used, why wasn't the representative more informative about the situation? it sounded like the representative was in a hurry to get me off the phone. My wife's safety is off paramount importance and I need a resolution on this matter as soon as possible because we're expected to have more heavy rain over the next few weeks. Thank you.

11 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2014

Someone please help me!!!!!!!!!!!! on the above date, I started my car & proceeded to clean rain water from the windshield. The wipers would not come on, nor would the radio. This is just a couple of ongoing things that I've experienced with this car, since I've purchased it. My mechanic says the wipers are factory defects. Whew, not again!!!! ugh! when's it going to end. I'm one of those people who depend on my car fro everything because of my college student so, I'm anal on the maintenance. We just put in new ball joints and he tells me the suspension is faulty so, it will cause me to replace the joints again in the future. I opted for the lesser of the two because, it's a factory issue. I've received a couple of recall notices however, upon taking the car to the dealer, once they kept it& claimed to fix the steering issues however, they still exist. I took it a second time, they had the car all of 20 mins. And told me that this issue was fixed previously. I'm continuously having issues with the steering whining, no matter how many times I service the fluids. My radio & electrical systems in the car, is constantly on the blink or not working. Now the passenger window decides not to go up. One day, as I was exiting the vehicle (turned off!) it decided to roll backwards. Luckily both feet were not out the car and I could catch it! I've invested so much money in keeping this car running until my mechanic knows what going wrong before the recalls come out. He's serviced so many "03" Accords, until he's thinking of becoming a specialist for Hondas. I just want Honda to correct all recalls on my vehicle. My student depends on it. ! how are these car manufacturers allowed to keep robbing its customers??? my address has changed since my last complaint. See below.

13 Wiper problem

Over the last 4 months I have experienced intermittent windshield wiper stoppage but was able to restart. However, while traveling on the interstate from work, it was raining with 20 / 25 mph cross winds, after traveling 30 miles @ 70 mph the wipers stopped working and did not restart. I pulled over on the side of the interstate due to poor visibility and called for someone to come and pick me up. We picked up the car the next day (was not raining).

17 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2011

Control panel display (audio-hvac display) failure. I have a 2003 Honda 4 door (w/o navigation) Accord ex. (I am the original owner of the vehicle). This problem, with potential safety implications seems to rise to the level of a defect. As I write, the display is dark and occasionally flickers. There have been previous service bulletins released on this issue and its a know defect; however I did contact Honda customer service on December 2011 but, Honda and Honda dealer's refuses to replace part without paying for it. Windshield wiper (linkage arm) failure. On multiple occasions I had mentioned to multiple Honda dealer's that windshield wiper are banging when returning to start position and I was told it was normal and they had checked the wiper motor and it works fine. Windshield wiper started banging year after I purchased the vehicle in 2003. I was able to fix the issue by replacing windshield wiper linkage arm at my own cost after I found the solution on independent Honda forums.

20 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2010

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) auto began having recall related symptoms during the second half of Jan. (Jan. 17th - Jan 31st). My wife actuated the windshield wipers in ?mist mode? and they operated very slowly and at times pausing through the cycle of ?mist mode? operation. I took the automobile to an authorized Honda of serramonte, colma, CA on the morning of Feb 6th 2010. Vehicle was then driven in dry conditions, later that day with the Honda recall (no. Q78), (1. D. #29313) (NHTSA campaign id #: 08v169000, NHTSA action #: pe07060) already performed and on the following four days (Feb 7th- Feb. 10th). We were out of the country; therefore vehicle was not driven from Feb 11th - Feb. 17th. Wife did not use the vehicle for the following four days (Feb. 18th - Feb. 21st). She started using it on mon. Feb. 22nd (no rain). On tue. Feb. 23rd (rainy day) she used the windshield wipers in ?mist mode? 2 to 3 times while on the freeway, towards the coast (half moon bay, CA). I had applied rain-x to front and back windshields sometime in the first week of February. Later this day, she headed back to her office (in burlingame, CA). It was then, that it began to rain hard and tried to operate the windshield wipers in regular mode at which time they failed to operate at all! tried to operate in ?mist mode?, but that did not work either! I confirmed the operational failure when she arrived home that evening. The following day in the morning I actuated ?mist mode?, and they exhibited the same symptoms they had back on January and in Feb. 23rd. I contacted Honda of America on 24/Feb/2010 @ approximately 08:31 a. M. , pst (their case # [xxx] ). The cover installment is not a remedy to what could be internal corrosion in the wiper motor/circuit breaker unit. This is a very dangerous condition that could lead to a fatal crash! my wife made it back home safe even though the likelihood of a crash in the conditions she drove were very high (rain-x certainly worked!).

21 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2010

While driving, the windshield wipers ceased to work causing impaired vision on the road. I am currently in the process of getting them fixed.

22 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2009

I was driving my 2003 Honda Accord coupe on July 31st when it started to rain. As I was returning home, it started to rain harder. During this time, my wipers stopped for as long as a minute and then would start again, only to pause again. I tried setting the wipers to high and found that I had no high. Fortunately, I was able to make it home without incident. I then researched the issue on this site and found that there was a recall for this problem (campaign 08v169000, NHTSA action number: pe07060), however Honda only applied it to the 4 dr models. As I was traveling last week, my wife called Honda and confirmed this fact. Today, I took the car in to my dealership so that they can take a look. The problem was confirmed to be the same as the issue that has already been logged.

23 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2009

My 2003 Honda Accord experienced a sudden windshield wiper motor failure during a recent severe rainstorm and it suddenly stopped working. Accordingly,I was unable to use the car during rainy weather. I had learned about the NHTSA recall for the same circumstances and so I delivered the car to pasadena Honda for repair. Pasadena Honda service department acknowledged the recall, advised that According to my VIN the recall was not applicable to the motor failure on my particular vehicle and made the replacement and charged me for parts and labor. I have the invoice and the old motor which shows signs of corrosion. I have researched the parts listings and I note that all 2003 Honda Accords regardless of model use the same wiper motor. Accordingly, I am not clear as to why my vehicle's wiper motor is not included in the recall.

24 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2008

Honda has a recall on windshield wipers for 2003 Accord and airbag sensors. They claim my VIN # is not included. They say even though I'm having the same problems it is just coincidental and I am responsible for repairs. They claim the are not liable in case of an accident since my VIN # does not fall under the recall.

25 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2008

Millennium Honda was contacted 32 days ago as well as today to set up an appointment concerning possible failure of the windshield wiper motor in my 2003 Honda Accord. They never respond to make an appointment. Recently when I called they indicated that they would call back but never did.

30 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2006

Took my car in for a regular oil change. Hours later I received a phone call from the service advisor asking me, if I had time so he could talk to me regarding my car. I said, yes and the service advisor from Honda dealership went on to tell me that I needed my transmission fluid changed, brake fluid changed, and my engine coolant changed. The total amount of cost came to $500. 29 which I thought I was being ripped off. The Honda service advisor also went on to tell me that I need to have my front struts replaced because they are bad. I noticed when I would make a right hand turn I would hear a squeaky noise. He confirmed that it was my front struts. I ask the service advisor how long does it normally take for struts to wear out he told me around 80,000-100,000 miles well my 2003 Honda Accord ex only have 48,000 miles on it. I'm assuming that I probably started off with bad struts in the beginning since I had my Honda Accord ex, I have had nothing but problems. Now, that my car is out of warranty I'm hit with a huge fee to get struts replaced on a car which I think was bad in the first place. My Honda Accord ex was originally purchased by me in December of 2002. I have been the only driver of the car. At this time I would never purchase another Honda Accord. I used to have an 2000 Honda Accord ex never had a problem. Since I have had this car there have been recalls on my car. I have had problems with the door latches, inside panel on passenger side coming off. Sunroof rubber coming unglued. I had to have the windshield replaced bad wipers which scratched the windshield up. New radio system. Trouble with the lights for the heated seats, dash board lights went out. Radio lights went out. I was sold a complete lemon. I believe Honda should look into my maintenance record and see all the problems I have had with this car and really consider replacing the struts for me. I do not have an extended warranty it's going to cost me $700.

31 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2003

The sun roof exploded. I thought it might have been hit by something but the glass was forced upward. I asked Honda service if this could be a defect problem but they said no. This happened in December 03 when the car was only a few months old. I had a similar problem with the rear windshield which also exploded in 2007. Both these events occurred while driving on a freeway in light traffic at 60 mph. .

32 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2003

I purchased my $34,000 2003 Accord on may 13, 2003 from route 23 Honda in pomton plains, NJ. After purchasing it, I noticed that the plastic/glass moldings around the doors were were very deformed. Three moldings have been fixed after 2 times being in for service, and one has yet to be fixed(waiting for part). The radio was making a squeaking noise and deformed looking, and they replaced the entire unit. On the right front tire well, there was a molding that was never screwed in properly, and began to hang down, which was replaced. The shifter has a loose stitch on it, which is becoming very sharp and can possibly cut someone. The part was put on order 3 months ago, but I was never notified of it's arrival. The driver side windshield wiper nozzle sprays directly into the wiper arm. This was brought in for service 4 times, and finally another dealership(sussex Honda) ordered a new nozzle which will hopefully work. The car has a slight burning smell when I park the car after driving. I brought this to Honda's attention, but of course they didn't find anything wrong with it. The car also has a slight grinding feeling that can mostly be felt between 1500 and 2500 rpms. I brought this into service 4 times and they couldn't find anything wrong(again). Along with that, when I put the car in drive, after about 20 feet it makes a horrible grinding noise and feeling in the gears. The car also seems to lack the power that it should have. I know this because I had a 2003 Accord lx v6 coupe, and then traded it in for a 2003 Accord ex v6 coupe. The lx had a lot more power than the ex. Also the lx had no wiper problems, grinding problems, or other problems that I have with the ex. Overall I have found 10 defects with my car within the first month of having it. After all of these problems, and having the dealership and the Honda service center hotline treat me as if I was making up these problems and that it was my fault for having these problems I will never buy another Honda again!.

33 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2003

Windshield wipers are not affective under driving conditions. The wipers work under minor rain conditions & a very low rate of speed. Once speed & weather conditions increase windshield wipers are inoperable.
