1 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

I was driving down a city road and the vehicle started to accelerate on its own and it did not want to shift gear. I was able to apply brakes but the car continued to accelerate to very high rpms. I had no choice but to turn the shut off the car midway and pull-over. While stationary and car shut off on side of the road I tried to turn it back it and it automatically jumped to high rpm and was never able to change gears from park to drive or anything because the car would take off. After 45 minutes of letting the car figure itself out, it stopped revving too high rpm and was able to go back home. The issue has stopped but now when I start the car up and switch from park to drive the car has a delayed engagement. Also, now my steering wheel locks up ever once in a while and when making turns randomly. I have checked power steering and no leaks or any sign on a repair that needs to be completed.

2 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

04 Honda Accord v6- d(4) light starts blinking. Brought it into the shop for diagnoses; 4th gear pressure switch. Replaced 4th gear pressure switch. Car seems to be working better. 3 days later; car only goes under cool conditions (tranny seems to work when the car has not reached regular / recommended operating temperature). When it reaches normal operating temperature, the motor starts revving, even in d. This has happened while at a stop and on a highway. When I was on the highway and the car had already warmed up, the engine revved and then suddenly jerked back. The feeling is like a manual transmission car downshifting without pressing on the gas; it jerks then decelerates. And from there it just revs and revs, like it's not catching the gears. So I had to pull over to the side of the highway a few times, thanks to this non-working transmission. When this occurs on the small roads, I would then have to pull over and turn off the car. After a few minutes, the car will engage into gear again, but not for long. This is a probable sign of overheating within the transmission, which can probably cause the tranny to slip? not 100% sure because I'm not a mechanic. So I was referred to contact american Honda for a recall inquiry, and of course, my VIN# doesn't have an open recall for transmission, meaning I pretty much screwed myself from the start when I bought this vehicle because there's a sketchy transmission in it. Even if I got it replaced, what are the chances that the replaced one doesn't do the same thing? I understand that transmissions do not last forever on any vehicle, but if you just google: 7th gen Accord transmission, you can read all the wonderful stories about fail Honda Accord transmissions, starting from year 2003; there's a community of authors. The worst part is, I got it replaced and I still don't feel any peace at mind. Good luck.

3 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2012

Entering on-ramp on freeway with speed of about 45mph and I hear my engine accelerate and see my rpm's increase rapidly, but my Honda Accord 2004 slows-down and transmission refuses to engage into another gear. Then transmission decides to work again. Honda Accord 2004 owners please be cautious and replace transmission ASAP to avoid any injury or death. This has been the same story for many Honda Accord 2004 owners. . . . I entered my VIN number on the Honda website for recall-database and nothing resulted as a safety recall. . . . . I will present my defective transmission to Honda again. Estimated cost to repair transmission is almost 5k!!!.

4 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2012

While driving on a highway at 60 miles an hour the transmission failed and the car jerked and lurched down to 35 miles an hour. It was as if the automatic transmission went to neutral at 7000 rpm's then would not increase above 3rd gear. Transmission fluid was changes in Accordance with the maintenance schedule. After that incident, the car was driving fine for two days. Brought the car for inspection at a Honda dealer who told me the transmission was fine. Four days later, while driving on the highway again traveling at 55-65 miles an hour the transmission gave out again. Except this time the car will not go into gear at all. It smelled as if my transmission was burning. I'm told the transmission failed and I need a new transmission. The failure occurred seemingly out of nowhere while traveling at high speeds. I was lucky the failure did not occur during rush hour traffic otherwise I could have been involved in a serious accident.

5 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2012

I own a 2004 Honda Accord ex v6 coupe and the transmission is failing in 2nd gear. I was traveling up a hill and it failed and I was forced to pull over so I would not get rear ended. I have been told I need to replace my transmission, which costs $4,000-$5,000. In a recent January 11, 2011 article published by the NY times by christopher jensen, titled "Honda transmission problems seem to persist", a recall from 2004 is outlined which involves 2003-2004 Honda Accord v6 transmissions. The article also states "the n. H. T. S. A. Web site has some 570 transmission complaints from owners of 2003-4 Accords. Many refer to problems with second gear". I have contacted Honda and have been told there is nothing they can do because my specific car was not part of the recall? I am livid. This is ridiculous. How can they not be held responsible for this?!.

6 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2011

Just hit the 100,000 mark on this Accord. The transmission is out and will not shift into gear. It just stopped while driving. Thank goodness this did not happen on the freeway. Hondas are supposed to go forever, but this seems to be a common problem. The recall apparently did not fix the transmission problem. I will not be buying or recommending Honda again.

7 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2011

The contact owns a 2004 Honda Accord. The contact was driving 60 mph when the tachometer malfunctioned and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle would not shift between gears and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer advised that the transmission had failed due to burned transmission fluid caused by excessive heat. The dealer did not replace the transmission. The failure mileage was 127,000.

8 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2010

I was driving and all of a sudden the transmission began slipping. Within 2-3 miles the car would not move in any gear. I called tow truck and when he arrived I tried again and was successful in turning the car around. I found on this site a reference to a recall notice but Honda doesn't show any recalls for my car. One repair shop wants to put in another transmission est. $3,000. I am planning on taking to Honda dealer and try again in person.

9 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2009

Drove home from vacation and car was fine. Next morning driving to work felt transmission begin to slip. On way home from work the transmission began slipping and rpm's shot up to 5000 to almost 6,000 and car decreased speed rapidly, car jerked and began to go again. Waited until I could get to a empty straight road and tried to increase speed rapidly and same thing occurred- rpm's shot up and car not in gear. Drove next day to work and car did same thing. Had to have car towed from work. Honda says there isn't a recall and have not had "any complaints to this, it could be that the proper service has not been completed by you". Well I have my car serviced every 3,000 miles and had transmission fluid flushed every 10,000. Last time it was flushed none of their service tech thought there was a problem due to not being serviced properly.

10 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2009

Transmission started slipping during lunch break and almost caused me to collide into another vehicle as I was stopped uphill and when let off brake car was not in gear. After rolling backwards towards curb from left hand turn lane, stopping engine and starting again I started limping back to work. The trans slipped, rpm's rose and then kicked in gear lurching forward almost hitting a vehicle. Had to be towed 60 miles home.

11 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2009

My transmission went out. Was on the freeway going 65mph when car suddenly felt like it went into neutral. I would accelerate and the rpm's would rev up high, but the car would not go into gear. Next day, couldn't get the car into gear at all.

12 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2008

Today 10-03-13 my wife's vehicle (2004 Honda Accord ex v-6 navi) transmission failed for the second time. During the last couple of weeks we noticed the transmission slipping from time to time. This morning we were going to perform a transmission flush at a local repair shop when the transmission failed. As the transmission went from 2nd to 3rd the vehicle revved as failed to transmit power causing a near collision. Upon pulling over in an unsafe area and placing the car in park the vehicle's shifter could not be placed in gear. After approx. 5 minutes the vehicle was able to be placed in gear and was able to drive to the local transmission shop. When I advised the transmission tech of the problem, he knew exactly what the problem was. The transmission tech showed us his work bay where there were 3 Honda's and 1 Acura all with the same problems. The trans tech said that the 2003-2006 transmissions on the Honda vehicle's including the pilot brand is a common problem with transmission failures. This was the first he's heard were the transmission had been replaced. Transmission replaced in may 2008/77,000 miles transmission failure October 2013/150,000miles upon doing research on this issue I discovered that we are not the only one's with this issue and Honda needs to address this problem. I called Honda just before this letter and advised them of this issue who stated that they are not aware of any complaints and there is nothing they can do. Nhtsa needs to do something as this is definitely a safety issue where someone can be seriously injured or killed!!!!!.

13 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2004

When parking the car in a parking lot, as I was turning into the parking space the car jumped (went very fast forward and hit the wall in front of me) even though I had my foot on the brakes I felt I had no control of the car and the engine turned off on it's own. I also noticed it jumped gears, it was no longer on d but d3. This incident caused damage to the bumper of the car.
