general problems of the 2005 Honda Accord

Lost control of my car my brakes either locked up or went out and steering wheel was hard to turn & it caused me to hydroplane and none of my airbags deployed.

Air bag needs to be replaced and ever since I bought it I been having steering wheel noise and it shakes constantly. I bought new tires, changed power steering, pump, hose and it still does the same thing. I go to discount tires nearly every two weeks to get tires rebalanced even if its new. They still cant find the problem. Car also turns off sometimes. Happpened five times already. The steering whistle sound is constant now and when my car turned off it was on the street parked and also making turns causes the steering wheel to be stiff.

I did not finance my 2005 Honda; I paid cash upfront $18,000+. From the beginning I have been reporting to Honda that there is a "major" problem with the brakes! I bought the car in late September 2005;. When winter came, I noticed that my brakes would stall when it extreme weather(snow, heavy rain, extremely cold weather)! during these poor weather conditions, when I press on the brakes, the car will not stop right away. There is a heavy pulsating noise and feeling going on, and the car will not stop until I have pressed down on the brakes as far as I could and the car has continued moving for a distance. Over the years, I have reported it and have taken it back and forth to the dealership, and have been told each time that they can not find a problem! I feel as though they didn't take responsibility because I did not finance the car. There have been times when I thought that I was going to die, because of this critical brake problem. Today is Monday, January 11, 2016. . . The weather was extremely cold this morning (maybe around 32 degrees), and this situation with these Honda manufactured brakes occurred again. I was terrified when my I pressed down on the brakes to stop for a woman pushing a baby carriage at a school cross-walk! Honda has avoided taking responsibility for this highly dangerous problem for far too long, and many people have probably died or become greatly injured to problems such as this with their Honda vehicles! from this report I am hoping for an immediate response and action to this "highly critical" matter. Today, was the final straw! these brakes have to be recalled. . . . I don't want to die and I certainly don't want anyone else to die because the brakes on my 2005 Honda would not stop!.

I was driving on the highway going about 75 mph. And the brakes randomly applied them self causing my car to go from 75 to 60 mph almost getting hit from behind. I have contacted Honda they said "scene they can not get the car to do it while they took it for a test drive there is nothing they can do. ' I have done a ton of research on Hondas. From 2003 to 2006 they have had a lot of complaints about brake problems and radio problems . The radio in my car does not work right in order for it to work right the want me to buy a new audio part. All of this on my budget. The brakes are a major safety concern and the just blow it off like nothing is wrong. I am hoping by sharing this with you guys something will be done to help make my car and other safer on the roads. .

Vehicle begins to shake (along with steering wheel) while braking at any speed over 45 mph. Happens during all different driving conditions and road conditions.

Honda Accord 2005 seems like has faulty mechanical on the brake. I was driving down the downward the hill and my brake did not stop. I was suspicious now that my car has faulty mechanical brake because about less than 2 years ago where my car has problem did not brake properly on the freeway. Then, I replaced my brake less than 2 years ago at Honda dealer. The last time my car maintenance was April 2013 and they stated the brakes are still good.

In several occasions I've experienced my car pulling itself to drive forward when I am at a complete stop.

We have had concerns about the brakes in this car since we purchased it from an individual six months ago. When you depress the brake pedal gently the car jerks forward practically sending the occupants in the vehicle through the windshield. On the other hand, when you really need to stop and apply the brakes quickly they do not respond, requiring a greater braking distance. We have taken our Honda to two Honda dealerships to register our complaints regarding our brakes and were told "this is just the way the 05 is". One individual actually laughed at the situation, which I find infuriating due to the safety factor. On Nov,11, 2012 we were on I-40 and had to stop quickly due to an accident ahead of us. The lady in front of us came to a dead stop. I was watching the situation in front of us and began slowing down and braking. I hit the brake pedal and the car slowed down, but did not come to a stop. I then applied the brakes again, pressing the pedal to the floor, the car still did not stop until it hit the car in front of us. We have shared our concerns with our insurance company and they do not seem interested. Together with a private investigator, we have found many complaints with the braking system in the Accord and other models as well. People have registered complaints just like ours, concerned for their safety. . Afraid to drive their car.

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord lx. The contact stated while at a stop light, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle causing the air bags to deploy. The contact sustained a back injury that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The manufacturer has not been made aware of the failure. On Saturday at 11:50 pm, I was cruising at the 169th & maple rd, omaha, ne parking lot. . At a front parking junction, I made a right turn at about 2-3 mph speed. I slowed and braked for a pedestrian walking across my path. My car started revving and accelerating rapidly. I immediately pressed the brake pedals harder. The harder I pressed, the harder the acceleration became. I became very concerned and scared that the car might accelerate suddenly and may cause a terrible accident. I quickly move the gear hand pedal shifters foward to (p)ark. The car jerked forward a bit and then stood still; however, the engine started revving with a loud din and then back to normal. I started to slowly move the gear back into (d)rive mode. The car behaved normally and I parked my car in a available parking slot. Prior to this incident, I had a minor incident similar to this. This was a about 2 weeks back. I was slowed and stopped at a traffic light to make a right turn to maple. While in stop mode pressing the brake, the car started jerking and accelerating forward slowly. I quickly pressed the brake harder and it jerked forward and stopped. At that point, I just shrugged it off, thinking that was unusual but wasn't really bad to take issue. All this happened when I changed my Accord hybrid battery and a hybrid controller over a month back when I had a hybrid battery and the controller that needed to be replace on account of a safety issue with the car. The car felt ok after the change. However, I had the car since 2005 and never did I encounter a sudden acceleration on this car, not once until after the battery and controller change. I can only relate now to what actually has happened and is very concerned for my life and my family to whoever drives the vehicle.

I brought the car in April while driving home from the dealer I noticed that when applying the brake (slowly) before coming into a complete stop the brake pedal would lock up, release and then come to a complete stop slow acceleration I wasn't able to pick up speed once it did the check engine light would come on code p0122 throttle pedal position sensor.

Break rotors warping.

The vehicle was driven to the dealership, where repairs were made for property damage. The dealership was unable to determine the problem with the brakes. The vehicle was taken to another dealership and an independent repair shop, which was unable to determine the problem as well. There was a rough idle when coming to a stop. The headlights flicker at times. Updated 07/05/06.

The car jerks when the brakes are applied at highway speeds. The front of vehicle vibrates anytime the brakes are applied at speeds above 40 mph. There is a catch and release feeling speeds below. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was told that the rotors needed to be turned at first 17,000 miles of ownership. As of today 8/8/2010, wheels have not been turned and same vibration exists.

Bad brakes on 2005 Honda Accord, 4 cyl, bought new, from purchase. Took back to dealer several times. Dealer unable to make repairs that last. Accord now has 32,000 miles and bad brakes. Bad brakes: at highway speed, the brakes don't hold, vibrates steering wheel, car does not stop.

2005 Honda Accord ex (4 cyl 5-at) 1) continual problem with braking system at low speeds 2) when at low speeds, apply the brakes and they grab so abruptly that the car stops with a jerk, often causing seat belts to lock. This can also occur when braking from high speeds to lower speeds in order to stop car. Because stops so abruptly have almost been in an accident where cars behind me had to swerve out of the way. One such instance happened on a busy toll both during rush hour. 3) Honda dealer where car had been purchased said nothing they can do. It's a problem with most 2005 brakes.

Have replaced brake 3 times on 2005 Honda Accord. Car has only 51000 miles and has not been drive hard. I find this is a common problem with Honda.

This started when I bought the car in 2005 and continues today (2011). I don't drive the car often for several reasons, one being a constant problem with the brakes. When driving on the highway at higher speeds, the wheel has always stuttered. When on a steep hill, the breaks have never halted the car completely. I have to make sure there are no cars crossing in front of me when on a steep hill. The brakes are terrible if I'm in a place where there is snow. I can't even drive it in snow or where there is a lot of rain. The tires are very good and all terrain, so it isn't that. I have the brakes inspected all of the time and they're only slightly used. I have tires rotated and aligned on a regular basis. But half of the time the brakes grind. Even after inspection at three different Honda dealerships, nobody can figure out what's wrong. I wrote to Honda about this and several other problems, but they didn't even respond, let alone remedy the problem. I feel the car is dangerous and I use it as little as possible in perfect weather conditions and on flat roads. It's sad that Honda takes no responsibility. I had only gotten Hondas in the past because of reputation and reliability. I will be buying another "brand" from here on out. I used to live in California and now live in new mexico. I bought the car in santa monica. I have been to several dealerships in both places.
