Headlights problems of the 2008 Honda Accord - part 2

2008 Honda Accord 4 cylinder ex-l w/navigation: while driving at night headlights flicker when the air conditioner is on. This occurs about every 15 seconds. The headlights become very dim and provide poor visibility and may also appear to other drivers that you are signaling them. It is a big distraction and makes the vehicle a safety hazard to drive at night while the air conditioner is engaged. The manufacturer does not readily offer a solution for this defect.

New car less than 1000 miles on it the headlights flicker about every 15/30 seconds with the ac on/off every night. Honda says nothing is wrong and won't do anything.

Bought a brand new 2008 Honda Accord ex-l sedan. Headlights keep going dim when air conditioner kicks on. It is very annoying and other motor vehicles think I am flashing them. They are not able or not willing to fix the problem. This could be a serious safely hazard. I wonder whether it is safe to drive a car that dims its headlights constantly. I do not understand why this cannot be resolved, and why Honda does not consider this a major problem. Should Honda be allowed to decide the dimming problem is normal? the other night on the way home I had someone pull off the road to let me pass, I can only assume it was because of my dimming lights. These lights are not safe and Honda needs to fix this problem.

2008 Honda Accord coupe 4 cylinder low-beam headlights only project about 30-40 feet. According to dealer they are adjusted properly. Possibly they are just too dim. It is very difficult to drive on the country roads that I travel that have no street lights, unless I use the high beams.

Car idles high and eratic since a new alternator was put on due to light(in and out) flickering along with fan and radio cutting out when a/c unit is used and cooling fans kick on and off. Since then car idles high, surges went fron tacking 1100 cold to 1500. Went from warm idle at 600 and is now 8-900rpms. Lights still do the same thing but they agree there was a voltage drop after two dealers said it was acharcteristic. After two month the cars going back in for a second seat track and a syl plate that was damaged. Now along with a list of problems the front bumper is pealing in same spot on left and right side near headlights. I alreadt complained about the bumpers not fitting. Dealer did idle relearn procedeure that did nothing. Check fuel cap message comes on and check engine light was on. They claim after 20 years of driving and 4 Hondas,I don't know how to put a gas cap on. Worst car I ever had. The worst part is the attitude of the dealers and Honda. I have been waiting for over two months for a rep,las time dealer snuck a note in that I refused to see the rep. I faxed them a demand letter to see the rep and another dealer was also supposed to set a meeting up. They claim he is out with a bad back(philadelphia area rep,)I am suing Honda under the lemon law. I had enough. The suit was filed and my court date is in October,contact me with any questions or comments. Car alo smell like a rotten egg.

All outside lights flicker whenever the air conditioner cycles on. This is a very visible flicker and I would consider a safety hazard. Honda has been notified and says its a normal condition. Driving the car at night has become extremely distracting.

When the a/c is on, the headlights noticeably dim every time the compressor kicks on. This happens about every 30 seconds or so why the a/c and headlights are both on. I feel that this is a safety issue especially when driving at night to have the headlights noticeably dim is a safety concern and NHTSA should really consider a recall/repair of this item before someone really gets hurt.

Headlights, taillights, interior lights, radio fan motor all fade in and out when cooling fan comes on. This was in the shop for this today along with pealing paint, bad seat track, bad upholstery and damage that sloane Honda did to my car in philadelphia, PA. Someone is going to get killed in these new 08 Accords. Honda doesn't care. Murry cohen service manager at sloane threw me out of the service department,threatened to call the police and refused to give paperwork showing the car was there, but I have the rental agreement they signed for the day. They say all Hondas lights go in and out,this is my 4th and this is the only one that does it. Honda customer service is no help. Don't waste your breath calling. 2008 Honda Accord 4 cylinder headlights consistently dim and brighten with the a/c on. This is not a minor change in illumination. It looks like you are lowering or dimming your lights and then immediately brightening them. This causes a misconception by others of an intent to pass or to ask them to dim lights if they are coming toward me. Honda dealership is saying this is normal. I have never had a vehicle do this before. I have been driving for 35 years and owned numerous vehicles. This cannot be misconstrued as "average" cycling of the electrical system. The variation of the illumination and the occurrence rate is absurdly out of proportion.

Honda is assuming that customers are willing to sacrifice normal headlight performance for the possibility of increasing fuel mileage. The operational design of one system produces a side affect in another system that results in a safety risk. Risks of operating a vehicle with poor headlight performance are provided below. 1. Reduced visibility and driving concentration could result in a collision. 2. Other drivers could mistake a headlight intensity fluctuation as aggressive driving behavior resulting in driver confrontation.

When driving at night regardless of the speed, with the a/c on the headlights flickers intermittently. I have read other web sites that its been a problem for this particular vehicle and model. Many have been to the dealer and have spoken to the manufacture which resulting as this is normal for this type of vehicle/model. This raises big concerns when driving at night, having your headlights flicker intermittently poses a safety hazard. Please looking into this matter. The dealerships and car manufacturer's answer to this problem is not acceptable.

Headlights flicker when driving at night when accessories (radiator fan, a/c compressor, etc. ) engage and disengage. Engine rpm is around 2500-3000 (highway speeds). This happens every minute or two, sometimes more often. Taken to dealership twice and have been told that this is normal and that all Hondas do it. We had a 2007 model as well that did not exhibit this problem.
