Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Honda Accord the contact stated that around 47,000 miles, they were experiencing excessive oil consumption with the vehicle. The contact stated they were able to receive a motor replacement under warranty related TSB-12087, however, the issue remains. The contact stated they would lose a quarter of oil every 3 to 5 days. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who confirmed that their vehicle was experiencing excessive oil consumption and that the piston rings failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000. Gl.
My car jerks from the vcm module on the car usually when going around 40 mph especially when entering a turn( I drive mostly on a 2 lane highway) which makes me feel unsafe because it happens when it shuts down cylinders and jerks the car hard sometimes and gives a significant loss of torque. I recently purchased a Honda Accord crosstour 2010 with 72k miles on their 3. 5l v6 engine and was not informed about Honda being sued for their vcm module that shuts down cylinders. It ruins piston rings, breaks engine mounts, misfiring, burning oil, and last but not least bent piston rods all so you can get 1 more mile per gallon. I would like for Honda to do a recall to fix engines that are damaged and to finally give their buyers an option to turn the vcm off which is known to prevent those problems and make the car not jerk. I got 75k miles now and jerking has gotten worse to where I'm trying to find ways to turn it off. Thank you for your time!.
09-2017 - 75,402 mileage -noise concern light on dash board: dealer said needs breaks($426. 32 I paid Honda), noise continues and dealer wants me to pay for a diagnosis. 02-2018 - 80,301 mileage - talked to service manager, took it for ride (same noise- light on dash boar). Manager said needs axels ($1,413) too much money. I took it other place to change axels. Same noise continues. 05-2019 - 97,386 mileage took to dealer because noise and light on dash dealer said no oil and based on what I told service advisoe - erick gomez- car missed the recall date for burning oil and needs piston rings that costs few thousands of dollars. Since that date I have to check the oil two or three times a week and pour oil if need it before the 2,500 or 3,000 mileage I told him that every time I went to Honda with the same problem they lied to me in regards of diagnosis of the problem and I was spending money, time, stress, frustration without results. The Honda dealer has been negligent and procastinates in regards of the recall on the car for burning oil. The problem was there and they were guessing on solve it, because they knew about other cars. On 10-10-2020 my friend was helping me to check the oil, I told him about my Honda problems and we decided to look on the internet about the recall. This is not my first Honda, on 2008 I bought at the same dealer a Honda Accord; I do not recall but I think was a 2007 that I drove for few years and I sold it without this kind of problems. The dealer has that file. I had a Honda civic - without this kind of problems. I bought Honda because quality and low cost repairs. I am a single 58 years old woman looking for justice. I called NHTSA and the person gave me the case numer 11364385.
While driving my 2010 Honda Accord crosstour on the freeway the engine light started flashing, I immediately took my car to Honda of stockton. They notified me that my car is burning oil excessively. Bank 1 pressure switch /bank 2 pressure code p3400 /p3497 vps stuck off both banks. Check engine come on and eco will not work they charged me $150. 00. Honda tested the vehicle and has evidence of the excessive oil consumption. I researched this due to them saying to fix this issue it would cost me $8000 and found there is an extended warranty add for this problem but the dealership says my car does not qualify. The extended warranty recall states that 2010 Honda Accord's qualify, but they will not make repairs for excessive oil consumption which has caused my catalytic converters to fail as well as my spark plugs and piston rings. I have researched and advised the mechanic this is called the vtc acuator and seems to be common in 2008 to 2011 Honda Accord's. The dealer instructed me not to drive my car it could catch fire and blow up and to contact corporate which is my next step.
The car burns a lot of engine oil. There are no leaks, no issues but its burning so quickly that I have to put 1 liter of oil every 2000-3000 miles. The mechanics say its a factory issue as almost every car of 8th generation do that.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the service engine indicator illuminated twice in the last year. The contact had the spark plugs replaced twice, but the engine still consumed a large amount of oil. The dealer (tom kadlec Honda, 3333 wilder rd NW, rochester, mn 55901, (507) 281-2500) was contacted and stated that they would investigate the results of a month long oil consumption test based on 1,000 miles. The dealer was in the process of analyzing the results. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 112,857.
Excessive oil burning - vehicle has less than 100k miles is burning oil. No dipstick reading for oil in engine (for every 3,000 miles driven). Car pings and no or little power from engine due to oil loss. Dealer test stated 1/2qt of oil used every 1,000 miles. Typical Honda oil change is every, 7,500 miles (per their manual) - if waited that long no oil would be in engine. Dangerous and significant issue - Honda stated it will not fix and stated 1/2 qt of oil burned every 1,000 miles is not excessive or significant !! - from a car owner, it is very significant. Compound this with the months and months wait for the takata recall for air bags issue - the Honda 2010 crv has significant issues. I have a CO-worker that has a 2010 Acura with 300,000 miles and oil loss issues.
October 2017-check engine light was flashing while in motion on a highway. Vehicle was shaking and hard to drive, pulled over to safe area. Unable to move vehicle once ignition was turned off and on. Towed to nearest dealer. Recall was preformed; computer update and spark plugs were replaced. May 2010-check engine light came on once ignition turned on. Vehicle was taken for diagnostics and air bag recall. While driving vehicle kicked while on the freeway. Honda states oil was 3 quarts too low. Oil indicator was at 30% and never warranted low oil. Oil was added and I was instructed to come back once I have driven 1000 miles to see if engine is burning or consuming too much oil. If so, service stated an engine replacement may be needed and could be costly.
Was told the car is experiencing excessive oil consumption and replaced the spark plugs for the second time in less than a year.
Our engine suffered a massive engine failure due to high oil consumption issue. The car lost all of its oil and there was absolutely no indication of such situation. I opened a case with Honda care, but as expected, they denied any responsibility even though these vehicles are impacted with such issue and the fact that I received a service bulletin. I will never buy another Honda.
Excessive oil consumption at 111, 000 miles. Dipstick reads empty after 4 months and 7,000 miles.
Excessive oil consumption, burning oil, while in motion.
Excessive oil consumption, the car is burning 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. The Accord oil change guide per the owners manual is an oil change every 7000 miles. I was driving the car with no oil on the dipstick which is a danger of full engine failure on the road. Honda tested the vehicle and has evidence of the excessive oil consumption. They settled a class action lawsuit agreeing to extend the engine warranty and perform repairs. The dealer stated that v6 engines are not covered in the the technical bulletin issued by Honda. I clearly see v6 as being impacted and listed in the class action lawsuit. The dealer instructed me to contact corporate which is my next step.
My 2010 Honda Accord ex is burning oil excessively. I am required to add about 2 quarts of oil in between oil changes up to 5 times. There is an extended warranty recall add for this problem but the dealership says my car does not qualify. The extended warranty recall states that 2010 Honda Accord's qualify, but they will not replace the piston rings.
In July of 2017 my car started showing that there was a instability in the engine. Turns out that Honda knew about this possible problem and had a procedure to deal with it without fixing the underlying cause. It seems that they made the pistons incorrectly at the factory and they could leak oil into the spark plugs causing misfiring in the cylinders. I went to Honda dealership to have this corrected and they said they needed to replace the spark plugs, clean up the oil and top it off. Then they would do oil consumption tests for a few months to see if the problem was gone. And it was gone for a while. Just long enough for the warranty to expire so when the problem occurred again, I would be left holding the bag to pay the $2700 for the repair that should have been done when I first went in 2017. I called Honda to review my case and they denied me twice stating the age of the car negated any assistance from them. My Honda case number is 09490208.
Honda refuses to make the court ordered repairs for excessive oil consumption which has caused my catalytic converters to fail as well as my spark plugs repeatedly I have taken to the dealership multiple time and all I get is the run around instead of fixing the problem which they are well aware of.
Excessive oil consumption, 5 quarts used in 6,000 miles.
My Accord has only 89000 miles and engine is burning engine oil almost 1 quart every 3 weeks. I have always took good care and change oil as soon as maintenance required(oil change) light comes on.
Oil consumption is more than it should be. I have to add oil between changes and I always get a misfire because my engine is trash.
Burns excessive oil. Engine shuddered. Flashed pcm changed plugs, oil consumption test. Said fixed. It is not.
My 2010 v4 Honda Accord is burning excessive amounts of oil. After doing the oil consumption test though Honda, they determined that my engined burned 2. 5 quarts of oil in approximately 5,100 miles. I believe that the amount is actually greater because they said that as long as it does not consume 1 quart per 1,000 miles that this is normal and they will not fix it. I know they have settled a class-action suit for the v6 model, but chose not to include the v4 models that have the same problem! how can it be normal to burn through more than half of the total amount of motor oil in between oil changes? I now have a car that has an engine that has not been properly lubricated for I am not sure how long because I purchased it used. I may be having to replace my engine before I am even half way through my loan.
Since oil change in April 2016, needed to add 3 1/3 qts of oil in less than 4k miles. No oil is dripping from car; no indicator light showing oil low. Took to get diagnosis of problem and no problem was found. Currently getting an oil consumption test with Honda so that we can get extended warranty.
Excessive oil consumption.
High consumption of oil. This problem is additional to the cold start problem noise. I received a letter about this extending the warrantee to 125,000 miles. I am going tomorrow to get my car serviced. I am going to report this to them and see what they say.
High oil consumption and noise when starting at times.
My motor begins to grind when I turn over the motor for about two seconds. . And my motor is burning oil I have to add 2-3 quarts every oil change.
I am having an oil consumption problem at least 3 quarts in between oil changes this has been getting worse and started almost immediately after purchase. This past February it started missing and I had a loss of power while on the highway on the way to work. I took it in and the Honda dealership replaced four fouled spark plugs and said if it happened again they would replace the rings in the engine, in total I will have taken the car to the Honda dealership 6 times for this problem and I am getting very tired of taking it in so they can tell me that they fixed the problem. With the loss of power I could have been in a serious accident and I am concerned about the engine failing every time I drive the car. I would consider this car unsafe because it could fail at anytime and leave me stranded or worse it could fail when I am pulling into traffic or merging onto a highway.
Excessive oil consumption, causing plugs to foul and damaging coil packs. This has happened twice in the last 12 months.
Received notice from Honda stating engine warranty extended to 120k miles due to oil consumption, attempted to have vehicle service for oil consumption tests at local dealer (mistlin Honda, modesto CA. ) was denied by service writer due to not having a check engine light on, I asked why would an engine light go on if I keep topping off oil between oil changes (1-2 quarts) he stated unfortunately he couldn't service it with out a light being on. To my understanding I don't see how a check engine light will be activated if engine is burning oil, unless the engine has gotten damaged due to not having any oil.
Excessive oil consumption with early replacement of spark plugs in 2010 Honda Accord v6. All spark plugs were replaced around 65k miles due to an "computer issue" According to my local Honda dealership. I was informed at the time that the warranty had been extended to cover the computer issue not an oil consumption issue. Was also informed the issue was fixed. The oil is now changed every 3k miles (which differs from recommendations from Honda to change the oil According to the maintenance minder varying between 4k and 5k miles) and having to add . 5 to a full quart of oil every thousand miles. There have been no oil stains where I park on a regular basis, leading to believe it is not leaking but burning or being consumed. The check engine light has come on multiple times and usually pulls the code that a cylinder is misfiring. The oil light never comes on even when the oil barley reads on the dip stick. This has been an issue for over 2 years.
We bought a 2010 Honda Accord crosstour for our daughter. Six months after buying it. We took it for an oil change and was told the car had no oil. The mechanic told me to keep an eye on this problem. I keep the oil changed on time typically before 3,000 miles. About four more months go by and my daughter calls saying she's aside the road broke down. Her car was smoking and shaking. Her car was shaking. The mechanic that works on our vehicles was close by and ran to check on her. He checked and said it had no oil. He added oil got car to shop. He told us that it was bone dry and pistons were back firing. He said a car with this low mileage shouldn't back fire pistons and that oil doesn't disappear from the vehicle. Knowing this wasn't the first time the car ran out of oil. He looked online to see if this was a problem with Honda cars. He found that this was a problem and there were lawsuits against Honda for the same make and model of my car. He suggested we take it to the Honda dealership so they could help with any recalls. That was such a waste of time. Three trips taking off work school dance running back and fourth 20mins both ways to bryan Honda fayetteville. First time was told no problem. They changed oil and told me to come back in 1000 miles. Second time was told to much oil was in that may be problem. Hmm didn't they change the oil? third time changed spark plugs misfire. Fourth time my favorite, oil consumption test was fine, car was a quart low on oil, added oil. . I was told by dealership and Honda corp that it was normal for oil to be low. It's normal to add oil in between oil changes😂 wow good one Honda.
Excess oil consumption. First made aware by oil service technician when the car was just under 5 years old. Technician said they notice excess consumption at the previous change, but thought it was a fluke. Since then, Honda has had me recording mileage and oil levels. After nearly 8,000 miles I had enough evidence for them to do a software update. . . . Which did not fix the problem. One thousand miles after the most recent oil change, I had to add 1/2 quart. Now the local Honda repair shop says they are trying to convince Honda to do a good-will fix. Really? how is this good will when this is a known engineering design issue?.
My 2010 Honda Accord v6 ex-l engine is misfiring and burning excessive oil. Current mileage is 35,340. The add oil lamp does not light up, to at least let me know that oil need to be added.
I took my car into the dealership, Honda cars of columbia, for the air bag recall which was repaired. I informed them of excessive oil consumption and of error codes that appeared. They informed me that there was nothing they could do without engine light on. I called Honda cars of America and after getting the run around, they told me that my vehicle was not covered under their campaign for excessive oil consumption and under engine misfire if the light came on again to take car to dealership and they would replace spark plugs 1-4 and update software. I have a v6. The car uses 2-4 qts between oil changes. All I'm asking for is to replace all spark plugs and update software. Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
2010 Honda Accord. Consumer writes in regards to issue with unusually high engine oil consumption. The consumer stated the vehicle needed oil added inbetween oil changes.
