Horrible steering. E brake gets stuck. High rpm at times.
The car for the longest time makes a screech at first start and sometimes at other times. Also the steering is off center and wheel turns left and right when brakes applied and when going over bumps. I had steering and shocks and struts replaced and adjusted as well as alignments done problems still there. I had those parts replaced due to originally having problems with handling. I took car back to adjust twice still have problem. The noise is still there at start too. Not safe.
The contact owns a 2010 Honda Accord. The contact stated that on numerous occasions while driving or while the vehicle was idled or parked, the shifter would be in a parked position then inadvertently shifted gears without warning. No warning lights illuminated. The contact then stated that on one specific occasion after the vehicle was started the shifter remained in park, but the gear shifted into drive. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the front end of his mother’s vehicle. The contact’s mother sustained whiplash to the neck. The contact’s mother was taken to the emergency room. The air bags did not deploy. No police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to jiffy lube where it was placed on a diagnostic, but the diagnosis could not be determined. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacture was notified of the failure and the contact was informed of no recalls. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the engine piston rings failed or malfunctioned. These parts were previously replaced under a Honda recall in 2018 due to excessive oil consumption. The same issue has returned — the vehicle is again burning oil. The engine and related components remain available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the excessive oil consumption can cause low engine oil levels, which may lead to engine damage or stalling while driving. A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of an accident, especially at highway speeds or in traffic. Additionally, the burning oil produces smoke that can obstruct visibility for the driver and nearby vehicles. Im scared it might damager my life or the life of others. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. The issue was confirmed by a Honda dealership, which verified that the vehicle is consuming excessive oil. However, they stated that the vehicle is no longer covered under warranty, despite the same issue being repaired under the 2018 recall. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? yes. The Honda dealership (manufacturer’s authorized representative) inspected the vehicle and confirmed the oil consumption problem. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes. The vehicle displayed low oil level warnings, and I had to add oil between scheduled oil changes. These symptoms reappeared around 2021, approximately three years after the piston rings were replaced under the recall.
Stalling. Fuel consumption. Headlights repaired. Electrical.
While backing out of the driveway (which is on a hill), the steering wheel became stiff and then locked. Only when the car was turned off and restarted, did the wheel unlock.
My car jerks from the vcm module on the car usually when going around 40 mph especially when entering a turn( I drive mostly on a 2 lane highway) which makes me feel unsafe because it happens when it shuts down cylinders and jerks the car hard sometimes and gives a significant loss of torque. I recently purchased a Honda Accord crosstour 2010 with 72k miles on their 3. 5l v6 engine and was not informed about Honda being sued for their vcm module that shuts down cylinders. It ruins piston rings, breaks engine mounts, misfiring, burning oil, and last but not least bent piston rods all so you can get 1 more mile per gallon. I would like for Honda to do a recall to fix engines that are damaged and to finally give their buyers an option to turn the vcm off which is known to prevent those problems and make the car not jerk. I got 75k miles now and jerking has gotten worse to where I'm trying to find ways to turn it off. Thank you for your time!.
I bought my 2010 Honda Accord 2dr lx-s (5a) brand new in August 2010 and have had several issues with it since - most of which has gotten worse that I am scared for my safety and those on the road. - while driving on both highway and non highway speeds ranging from 15mph - 60mph severe rubber smell and grinding of brakes-sounded as if the entire car was going to fall apart. When I got home the rear brakes and pads were completely rusted, black and were extremely hot to touch. Schaumburg dealership said the rear pads weren't installed correctly. -everyday since mile 25,000 my car when started at any time has made a large and extremely loud cranking noise that lasts about 2 seconds. Schaumburg dealership days this is related to the I-vtec 4-cylinder engine but it was no longer under warranty. (this was at 71,000 miles). No fuss had been made had they said it is completely fine with the cranking noise. -when turning and driving in general the car makes a weird whining noise from 0mph - 45mph I've noticed this many times as when turning left or right my vehicle ias extremely uneven. This also could relate to the starting wheel being 5 inches to the right when the wheels are straight; I've paid for multiple alignments and it continues to happen. -lastly the breaking system is terrible and does not stop correctly. I now have to slow down almost to a complete stop 500 feet prior so they work; I have to drive extremely slow and be very cautious.
Driving approximately10-15 mph on a local round-about and the engine appeared to stop running. I coasted to an intersection and stopped along the road. Engine turned over initially then only buzzing sound. Shifter locked in park after stopping. Door locks and windows were functional as well as the fan motor. Limited lights on the panel, tire pressure system, and red passenger seat icons were lighted. I would consider this a dangerous occurrence. Fortunately I was not in a bad location for stopping.
Issue: for past 6 months these issues has been observed in my Honda Accord v6 ex-l and has increased in past 1 month and has been seen at least 3 times in past month. While driving between 65-70 miles/hour on a gradient roads, the power train rpm increases to in excess of 4000 rpm and the car stalls, causing the steering wheel to lockup. Yesterday this happened suddenly while driving in normal road condition ,and had to park the car, is it related to these recalls ?#11v395000, #11v004000,#10v640000 apply.
Highway speed vibration at various intensities, mostly at speeds over 60. Car shakes and vibrates. Honda dealership evaluated situation and noted no problems with suspension, replaced front and side motor mounts without solving problem. Factory tech stated these problems have been evaluated as "bad tires". Car had problem with prior tires and current tires had less than 2,000 miles on them. Tires were rebalanced, aligned and rotated - no improvement. Same problem with second car (same make/model 2008). Internet searching indicates this is a problem with 2008 through at least 2012 vehicles. Dealer tried to test the tire issue by swapping tires from another used vehicle on the lot. They test drove 3 vehicles to find one but all three had the same vibration issue. I think there is a design issue with this model and the problem is being ignored by Honda (must be a huge issue and/or a very expensive fix). I have seen statements that this is a "characteristic of this vehicle" and noted other similar explanations. In my mind this is a safety issue. It is very distracting to experience serious vibrations at high speeds. It is also unsafe to be driving on high speed roads at lower speeds to avoid the issue.
Applied brakes on freeway at 70 mph to exit ramp, steering wheel started to vibrate . My 2010 Honda crosstour has approx. 16000 miles. Vehicle is unstable when this occurs.
The contact owns a 2010 Honda Accord. The contact was driving 55 mph when the vehicle began steering in multiple directions causing the contact to momentarily lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileages were 18,000.
Engine rpms go up when stopped or barely moving if steering wheel is moved. Has gotten worse and it now has 5200 miles. No luck with dealership. Say it normal for the rpms to go up if you move steering wheel. Supposed to call factory and call me no phone call yet.
Unable to get the lock mechanism to engage to start the car. My mother has been left stranded five times due to lock mechanism seizing and her being unable to start car. She has called the Honda service dept. Twice and they recommended pulling hard on steering wheel (toward chest of driver). They obviously knew to recommend this remedy. But my mother is 90 pounds and frail. It took strong males (strangers in a parking lot, most recently while it was snowing) to pull the steering wheel out to affect the remedy so the car would start. Honda has not offered to correct the problem and tries to blame her for "leaning on the steering wheel" as she exits the vehicle. 90 pounds??? my extended family has owned 20+ Honda's in the past - including me owning a 2009 ex-l. We are all now disappointed. Not to mention that my mother was made to wait in Honda service for her initial 3000 mile oil change for 2 hours. They also charge her for rotating the tires at 3000 miles. . . Talking about taking advantage of an elderly widow. . . . . She went later to have the air checked in her tires because of the low pressure warning (remember, she is recently widowed with no knowledge of cars and her children are hours away) and they mad her wait 1 hour for this. Shame on Honda. Her car is up for sale and so is mine. The extended family will no longer buy Honda's. Her local dealer where she bought the car is asheboro Honda, asheboro, north carolina. They have thus far been indifferent to her situation.
Steering wheel and front end shakes when driving over 60mph. Issue started when car had a few hundred miles on it. Dealership replaced tires, balanced tires many times, performed alignment, replaced front rotors. Problem still exists. Seems unsafe to drive at times. Car now has 21000 miles.
I did not have an accident but when I went to purchase 4-cylinder 2010 Honda Accord I notice that steering system was completely unacceptable and unsafe. I used to be a steering engineer hence know the system expectations. I did not buy the vehicle. Steering does not return to center. I drove my friends car and it has the same issue. Someone can get really hurt. This is typically a safety to fuel economy tradeoff engineering choice. I do not work in auto industry anymore but wanted government to investigate this issue.
