general problems of the 2016 Honda Accord

The engine stop/start system on my 2016 Honda Accord, VIN [xxx], has stalled and shut off without warning in active los angeles traffic dozens of times since September 2025. The vehicle loses all power mid-drive with no warning — no dashboard lights, no warning sounds — leaving me unable to accelerate or respond to surrounding traffic. The condition has progressively worsened and now includes repeated no-start failures requiring three documented tows. The component failing is the engine stop/start system. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others hav been put at risk repeatedly. I am a [xxx]. My wife, age [xxx], has [xxx] and has been a passenger during stalling events. Sudden unexpected stalling in active los angeles traffic creates immediate foreseeable risk of rear-end collision and loss of vehicle control. This risk has been experienced dozens of times over six and a half months. The problem has been presented to Honda of hollywood, a certified Honda dealer at 6511 santa monica blvd, los angeles CA 90038, across five separate visits. Each time the dealer concluded no problem could be found. On one visit I was charged nearly $2,000 for spark plugs and a gasket — work with zero diagnostic connection to the stalling complaint. The vehicle was returned to me in an unsafe condition after every visit. On [xxx] the tow truck driver who responded to my third documented tow independently experienced the failure, could not start the vehicle, witnessed the complete failure sequence, and declared the vehicle unsafe to drive. He is an independent third-party witness with no stake in this case. I have video documentation of the vehicle stalling in active traffic on multiple occasions. I have voicemails from Honda of hollywood's own service advisor documenting their diagnostic failures. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Going home from work, at highway traffic light intersection and car began to shake, sputter. . Engine and oil light briefly came on before car stalled and shut off. In panic put gear into park, turned ignition button, car started and was able to put into drive and proceed. Not long after, on a main road, waiting for turn light, stalled, lost power again. Did not have any acceleration or power. Car was again shaking, luckily pulled into parking lot, put in park, shut off car and back on. When trying to accel, same thing happened as I was half way across 2 lanes, had zero accelerate power, car was shaking/sputtering, but luckily made it across. Car sat off for approximately 10 minutes. Was able to turn on and accelerate to get home without problem. This is a very scary situation to be in, especially in very heavy city traffic conditions. I have never been notified of any sort of recall. A case # has been made with Honda USA. They also let me know that although the year and model of my car was a part of a fuel pump recall, and even though I experienced the same issues that other owners were having in which their vehicles were recalled, that my VIN # was not part of that particular batch recall. Honda dealership shop has diagnosed as a fuel pump. (can provide shop estimate).

My car stalls at times or pause for a second.

Gear shift ignition and parts of buttons come on and off. Gear shift lights not at all anymore. The entire tire warped from around tire like it been detached from car and fell outward. I’ve had multiple fuel issues two brand new catalytic converters fuel pump and system cleaned put on filters changed and still have issues.

Error code p0087.

On several occasions, as I’ve traveled down the interstate, getting off of an exit the car engine completely shuts off and dies before coming to a complete stop.

Car having issues with fuel pump as described in recall but it does not include my VIN number. See other campaign ids NHTSA campaign 19v060000 NHTSA campaign 17v418000 NHTSA campaign 23v858000.

We were driving our 2016 Honda Accord lx down the highway and our vehicle started sputtering, causing us to swerve and gain control/slow down rapidly. The car could no longer accelerate to high speeds (could only go about 35 mph), and a bunch of engine lights came on the dash. Upon taking it to a Honda dealer, they diagnosed the problem with the high-pressure fuel pump. Apparently our year of Honda Accord (2013-2017 models with 2. 4l engine) had a recall on the fuel pump system, but that recall was associated with the fuel pump impeller. This existing recall number is 34v-858, mfr campaign id vij. It does seem odd that I would face a similar issue to this recall, but this high-pressure fuel pump failure is not covered under the same recall program According to Honda. I did submit for potential reimbursement under this recall, but Honda denied our claim. Could this issue be related to the same issue and therefore should this be part of that recall? this was a dangerous incident that happened going at high speeds on the highway, and we were simply lucky that our swerving didn't lead to an accident. Given that a more recent recall from Honda (2023-2024 Honda Accord) is associated specifically with the high-pressure fuel pump failure (recall # 24v-763), I think it's reasonable that this same issue could apply to older models of the Accord as well.

Went out driving with my family, and next thing I know. I have a check engine light active, after having three diagnostic tests ran my vehicle, it was determined that it was my low pressure fuel pump is going bad. And now being notified that the high pressure fuel pump is needing a replacement. I have noticed there was a recall between the years of 2013-2017 Honda Accords. I have a 2016 with the same problems as the recall. My vehicle just barely broke fifty thousand miles.

While driving suddenly my rpm’s started acting up I was going fast on the freeway but my car was going slow dropping in speed doing weird things. I’m worried I already replace the high pressure fuel pump.

1) power train system and anti lock brake system. Base on the code found in the fix finder report my solutions were to replace the fuel pump and battery. The battery was changed one week ago and it is telling me that the battery must be change again due to an electrical issue. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. 2) while driving my car began to accelerate picking up speed by itself and then suddenly dropped the speed. I had to pull over and stop the car. 3)unknown 4)no 5)the engine light, power steering light turned on today 8/11/2023 while driving. My car began to drive strange and accelerating by itself.

Car is stalling and check charge system is popping up on dash . There is a recall for these problems on other Accords.

On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, my wife was parking her car in the parking lot of a tj maxx, 4220 summer Ave, memphis, TN 38122. As she turned right into the parking space, at a very low rate of speed, 1-2 mph, the engine revved and launched her into another parked vehicle. Once the engine revved and launched she had both feet on the brake pedal. It did light damage to the vehicle she hit and moderate damage to her 2016 Honda Accord coupe. The impact was hard enough to deploy the driver side airbag. No one was in the other vehicle and she did not sustain serious injury. The car was towed to a body shop. The other vehicle was drivable and insurances were exchanged.

I have a 2016 Honda Accord touring with 102k miles VIN# 1hgcr3f97ga027499 , on 09-03-2020 was driving south on I-295 to orange park FL with my grand daughter isabella and daughter genesis and before exit to collins rd, my vehicle check engine light came on flashing and my Honda Accord turn off while driving in the middle lane doing 55mph almost got rear ended by a semi truck and fast speeding cars, I was able to pulled over safety to the emergency lane on right side of highway, I was trying to figure out what has just happened, waited 5 minutes shivering with fear what was just about to happened, before trying to re-start my Honda Accord, the car started and rpms where below 500rpm with vibration, luckily I had my obd2 code reader in my glovebox called fixd, I plugged into vehicle obd plug and got 3 codes p0300 random multiple misfires, p0304 cylinder 4 misfire, and p0305 cylinder 5 misfire, I turned off and re started vehicle back on and vehicle started with no check engine or vibrations that was really, really odd, this is really dangerous and dealership didnt find anything wrong with vehicle.

Multiple issues with car not starting even with a new batter. Will have to jump the car off each time I drive. Car stalling when I drive it.

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle hesitated and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 19v060000 (fuel system, other). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but they could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to nalley Honda (located at 4197 jonesboro rd, union city, GA 30291, (404) 994-4321) where a fuel treatment was provided and a change of fuel, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 90,000.

August 2018 battery in car stopped working. Stationary car would not start. Replaced battery and in November 2019 battery stopped working again. Car wont start. November 2019 problems with gas. When pushing the gas on residential street it stops, wont go further.

Concerning the battery, I was parked in a parking stall and when I try to start my car to leave it would not start I had to call a tow truck to give me a jump. No lights or anything was left on I had turn my car completely off and then I tried to start it and it would not start I was only there like long enough to order my food and then to leave so maybe 20 minutes in my car would not start ,due to the battery. Concerning the fuel system I was at a signal had my foot on the break and the car exceller rated on its own if I would not have my foot on the break I felt like it would've hit the car in front of me the whole car moved I had a passenger with me and they identify the same thing I talked took my car to the dealer I told them what had happened and they told me just don't park too close behind a car that was their response to me. I was stationary behind a vehicle at a signal waiting for the signal to turn green so I could go that's when this happen on a regular street.

Nhtsa recall id 19v060; this recall appears to only impact v6 Honda Accords, however, I feel it should be expanded to four-cylinder as well. I have noticed my car almost stall-out on several occasions since ownership. My car has about 57k miles on it, it had 6k when I purchased it certified pre-owned. Typically, this happens when I'm sitting in a parked position in idle. But, it has also occurred when I put the car in gear, start driving at a low-speed (down our alley), and I feel gaps in the power when I push the gas. It will accelerate at a certain rate, then stop, even though I've not lifted my foot off the accelerator. I was unsure what this was related to (spark plugs), but this recall has made me think it's also related to the fuel system. This has happened on at least four separate occasions, but only relatively recently (within the past 6 months or so).

Vehicle unexpectedly caught on fire! the whole car busted into flames without warning on the freeway.

Strong gasoline smell inside passenger cabin. Nauseating, trouble breathing.

The problem is with the acceleration of the vehicle. It tends to at times to just cut out accelerating. When that happens I try to press the pedal again, nada, milliseconds pass and the accelerator will take off at a high rate of speed. It's scary. Took it to the dealer and found nothing wrong. The tech told me that I have to get used to the cvt. This generally happens when turning left or right. It happened one time while taking off from a dead stop. While placing the car in gear, nada.

When I stop and want to take of fast accelerator pedal does not respond . I think this is very dangerous it has happened several times.

Volatile organic compounds ,including "methyl isobutyl ketone" are entering the vehicle cabin while the engine is on. This is causing serious eye irritation and breathing irritation. This despite the air conditioning being on, all vents closed, all windows up. I've attached the results of a "passive diffuse monitor" that was used in the cabin to monitor the air quality for approximately one week in December 2016.
