All 4 warnings came on about a month ago - no safety systems & no cruise control at all. I could drive 50 miles and they'd go off until eventually they did not. Now I find through the forums that this is very common for the 2017 Honda Accord & hybrid! and, the dealers knowing this are charging over $2,000 for a simple camera! so, they know these have a high failure rate, are not fixing them, and are price gouging us! please help us all on the roads out there!.
On [xxx] my car while driving suddenly reported abs brake system failure, together with that other warnings flashed adaptive cruise, ps system (eps) failure etc. With difficulty I was able to stop the car and pull over. Same day I called Honda service hq and lodged a complaint case number [xxx]. The car has 57,478 miles and is properly maintained. Honda suggested that I drive the car over to a dealership. I am unwilling to drive due to serious safety concerns. Another followup email was sent on July 8th to acs@ahm. Honda. Com but has resulted in no response. I am a [xxx] and even though its a serious safety incidence, Honda has shown no signs of concern . Please advise and help me out, the company should get it towed and fix the issue free of charge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the lkas and adaptive cruise control messages were displayed. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
On 3/30/2024 the car was being drive from north carolina to ohio. The brakes failed in fort chiswell, va, at 5:00 pm on March 30, 2024. Using the brake pedal did not slow the car, had to put gear selector in b, that slowed the car but did not bring it to a stop. Had to use the emergency brakes to come to a complete stop. This malfunction could cause a crash or could cause injury or death. The brakes failed a second time the tollbooth between princeton, wv, and beckley, wv. On 3/30/2024 the car was towed to the Honda dealership in beckley wv. The dealership worked on the brakes and claimed to have fixed the problem. On 3/30/2024, after one hour of driving, now in charleston, wv, the brakes failed a third time. The car was turned off and then back on and driven and the brakes failed a fourth time. The car was towed to the Honda dealership in charleston wv. The dealership was told that the problem occurs after driving the car for an hour or so. The dealership was not willing to drive the car that long to replicate the problem. There is a Honda service bulletin 20-001 that pertains to a similar brake problem on this vehicle. The dealership did not appear to be aware of the service bulletin. When the braked failed, the following warning indicators were displayed on the dashboard: vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem hill start assist problem collision mitigation system problem road departure mitigation system problem adaptive cruise control problem brake system problem.
The adaptive cruise system on this vehicle will get you rear ended real fast. It applies the brakes whenever it feels like it, when you make a turn while passing a truck it will slam on the brakes so hard it tries to throw you thru the windshield and all you are doing is passing a truck in a turn the lane departure is dangerous because it fights you in a turn to the point you have to fight to stay in lane and it shakes the steering wheel which seems to me would be the last thing you want to have happen.
The forward camera tied to all safety features (as well as cruise control) is defective. I have tried to replace at a Honda dealership twice since December of 2022; they tell me the part is backordered. Because the camera is defective, none of the safety features work; cruise control is also disabled. Failure to have the part available is creating an unsafe vehicle by prolonging repair. My car has approximately 120,000 miles.
This is a dangerous problem and I expect Honda to have a major recall some day, unfortunately not today. Symptoms were two things, 1) acc when on would not slow down with another car in front, it just kept accelerating into the car until I put on the brakes. Crazy dangerous. 2) the collision warning light would come on and beep loudly when there was no possibility of collision. Required replacing the radar unit, $5000 at the dealer. Dealer tech said that this unit is connected to every control system, brakes, steering, etc. Very dangerous to drive without a correctly functioning radar. If I could, I would just turn those features off, but there is no way to do that. Besides, I like those features. Car is 5 years old; my last payment is in August!.
This system is malfunctioning and braked suddenly twice and I almost got rear ended. Now the system is not working and the dealer at diamond Honda wont repair.
My cruise control will start randomly blinking , while my radio screen freezes my wipers always streak my windshield, I’ve tried all brands, I think it’s the windshield.
The car shows acc, lkas, cmbs warning lights coming up. There is an error about brake system that shows up on the dashboard. . Read more...
All wrong lights came on the dash and all components had failed. Took it to the dealership and they weren't able to diagnose, they reset the system and said that if it failed again I would need to purchase a Honda battery as it had recently replaced with another brand. Everything worked for about two weeks until I was on the freeway with the cruise control set at 75 and suddenly the brakes took me down 35. Very frightening experience. Took it in again and they said I needed to replace the camera in the windshield at $1,900. My car only had 42,000 miles and 4 years old. Reluctantly, we replaced and paid for the camera and once again the cruise and lane assist failed a week later. My screen also appears to be defective as it goes black and pixilated and the dealership simply resets it and the problem persists. Took it into the dealership for the 4th time and they reset system and once again it worked for about week. . . Again the forward collision warning slammed on the brakes on the freeway. I do not feel safe driving the car with all the failures happening so abruptly. Honda is not being helpful with this problem and the severity of the problem doesn't seem to be a priority.
All the warning lights came on in the dashboard. Took it to the dealer, replaced the steering sensor. Couple months later all the warning lights came on again.
