general problems of the 2018 Honda Accord - part 1

Error message "supplemental restraint system problem. See your dealer. " comes on everyday. I understand this is a Honda well known issue and they refuse to recall.

My vehicle announced to me it has a supplemental restraint system problem. See your dealer.

While driving, a warning message appeared on the dashboard stating: “supplemental restraint system problem. See your dealer. ” the airbag warning light also illuminated. This indicates a malfunction within the supplemental restraint system (srs), which controls airbag deployment and seatbelt pretensioners. At this time, it is unknown what specific component of the srs failed or malfunctioned. And this issue first appeared 2 moths after purchase but its been coming on and half I don't know how serious this is. This malfunction places my safety and the safety of passengers at risk because the airbags or other restraint features may not function properly in the event of a collision. The problem has not yet been confirmed or repaired by a dealer, and no inspection by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives has been completed as of this report. The warning lamps and message appeared suddenly while driving, with no prior symptoms, noises, or performance issues. Vehicle remains available for inspection if requested.

07/30/25 - over the course of 1 week, I have received three dashboard warnings "supplemental restraint system problem. See your dealer" it goes away once car turns off. Honda of katy states to bring in when alert still on dashboard (which will disappear when car turned off) but quoted will be required to sign a $215 diagnostic fee. No charge if it is just an error code. But $215 can be used toward repair. This is a safety issue and should be a safety recall as owners should not need to pay for manufacturer defects. I can not afford to fix since still paying off the known issue of fuel injectors failing but not yet safety recalled. Please help.

I was driving around and all of sudden my car dashboard shows the supplemental restraint system problem.

My 2018 Accord sport started randomly started popping up a “supplemental restraint system problem” on my dashboard. It’s turns on and goes away randomly. I went to my local Honda dealer and I asked them about it and they had to preform a diagnostic for $250. Our Honda dealer wants to charge $4000 to repair it. I wrote to american Honda and submitted a support ticket, they asked for a new diagnostic and charged us another $250. They called me back yesterday saying that they wont pay for the repairs unless there is a recall. How many people need to have the same issue to initiate a recall? there are a lot of complaints online for this same thing. It is airbag safety related.

Accident happened April 8th and drivers airbag system failed me during my accident. Passenger bags went off top and bottom but the drivers foot bag went off also but the one in the steering wheel did not go off . Resulting in neck and head injuries. Car has only been inspected by our insurance claims adjuster. No warning lights on the dash and car has always been well taken care of regarding any recalls.

I own a 2018 Honda Accord ex?l (VIN#: [xxx]). Shortly after a service visit to a Honda dealer for unrelated maintenance (in Sep. 2024 with an estimated 50,000 miles), the dashboard began showing ‘supplemental restraint system problem – see dealer’. A dealer quoted $400+ to diagnose and replace what appears to be a common passenger airbag indicator sensor failure, a known issue reported by many 2018 Accord owners. I believe Honda should issue a recall due to the safety risk. I’m filing this as a voq complaint for odi’s review and authorize NHTSA to share my identifying info with Honda if needed. Supporting documentation and numerous examples of complaints from hundreds of Honda Accord owners relating to this problem: - numerous drivers of 2018 Honda Accords have reported the identical warning (“supplemental restraint system problem – see dealer”) along with fault code b002013, intermittent dashboard behavior, and inability of dealers to resolve it consistently. - Honda’s 2024 campaign 24?050 identifies the seat weight sensor as directly causing srs warnings and passenger airbag indicator failure - demonstrating this component is known to fail and trigger airbag system alert behavior, even if not yet applied to 2018 model year. - independent coverage confirms the risk and design defect in seat sensors causing unintended srs failures, underscoring the safety risk and Honda’s formal acknowledgment of the issue in later models. - multiple complaints about post?service warning lights that match this scenario (electrical system category), and public news coverage stating Honda is recalling vehicles due to faulty passenger seat sensors that may cause airbag or srs failures. - 37 official complaints for the 2018 Accord, with no repair by dealer and failure left unresolved. About two months ago, srs/supplmental restrain light came on. It has been coming on/off. Took to the dealership to check; however at that time the light was off-they did not find anything wrong. On 9/5/24, the light came on again, took to the dealership same day. They diagnosed as code b0020-13. Stated there is an "open or increased resistance in the left side airbag inflator. Installed srs harness tester and found code to go away with srs harness tool installed. As first step in diagnosis, recommend to replace left side airbag inflator and recheck. ".

On 01/27/2024 I went to mungenast saint louis Honda because my srs airbag lights keep coming on for passenger seat, I paid $89 for a diagnosis fee and found out that I was told there is a sensor malfunction that is causing this. I was told that if that light is in the airbags will not deploy during an accident. I asked them to replace this part for free, they refused stated vehicle out of warranty even though it’s a huge safety hazard and can cause a fatality if the airbags don’t deploy, advisor at dealer said not to drive the vehicle until this gets repaired. I feel it’s unfair Honda will not repair this for free with it being a safety issue.

I keep intermittently getting a supplemental restraint system error. I have been on forums with other vehicle owners getting the same error. The dealer says it is a bad airbag while others are saying it could be two other less expensive remedies they have encountered such as a faulty cutoff indicator that gets overheated and the solders come loose as well as a faulty seatbelt buckle assembly. This is not a constant issue, it is intermittent and feel if the airbag was faulty it would be a constant error.

Supplemental restraint system problem.

"supplemental restraint system failure" warning is intermittently illuminated in the dashboard. It comes on when the car is in drive, moving down the road, and when the car is in park. Warning goes on and off randomly. Dealership couldn't tell me what the problem was. Just suggested I replace the (very expensive) module to see if that works. On 4 different occasions the emergency brake system has gone off and the car has slammed on it's breaks while driving 50-55mph down the road with no object/ vehicle in front of it. Thankfully no one has been behind me when this has happened because I would definitely have been rear-ended if they were.

Supplemental restraint system error appears on dash unit, at first intermittently and now at all times. I am wondering if this could be related to a recall on seatbelts which apparently does not apply to my VIN but does to other 2018 Honda Accords.

My car keeps indicating a supplemental restraint system issue then goes away I’m not sure what’s going on but I’ve seen several other complaints about this same issue with Honda.

The 2 airbags on the driver and passenger side exploded around 7 am 7-14-23 driving south on san andreas causing the car to drive into a street pole and dislodge the right front wheel and cause likely irreperable damge to my 2018 Honda Accord. I was shaken up aandmy right arm has burn marks from the airbags imploding the car was not driveable and towed to abx collsion in san diego. I am going to contact Honda shortly as this incident is causing a lot of financial and mental distress.

I had a recall on my seatbelt and after I did the recall now my airbag resistant light is coming on and I don’t think they’re going to look at it without charging me when it never came on until they done the seatbelt so I’m not sure if I got a defective part and they need to replace it or what but I don’t think I should have to pay for it since it was just fine till they done the recall.

Srs light went on while driving.

I have taken my Honda because of engine misfiring. They said there is coolant seeping in the pistons and we red a new engine gasket and the cost is $4,000. All the warning lights are turning on and alerting the driver but when I took it in and paid $380 they can’t figure out why these are turning on. The fuel injectors and belt are another item that has been alerted to being an issue. These are problems my 20 year old car has not encountered and this is a 2018. The airbags warning has been an issue at least once every few months.

My vehicle I of several people I know suddenly appears on the screen the symbol of the seat belt I the airbags turn off I took it to the dealer I they told me that it doesn't have it. Nothing keeps appearing and Honda is not responsible for something that can take lives in an accident either.

Air bag light comes on and stays on for a little bit and goes off , toke vehicle to Honda dealer and they did not know what was wrong was told they were going to contact Honda and they would get back in touch with me .

My airbag light comes on than goes off for a bit than comes on for a few months with only 1200 miles I needed braces and rotors , since the metal used was rusted out and worn.

I got a b1 maintenance not that long ago and they said everything was fine but fast forward like 3 months later, my breaks start clunking and it sounds like it’s metal to metal and I don’t even drive fast like a crazy person or anything and I get a warning that pops up sometimes talking about a supplemental air bags error and that the passenger air bags turned off. My 2018 Honda Accord 2. 0t sport with 41k miles is just acting super super strange. It sucks because I just bought this car like a year ago. Please help me.

While driving, supplemental restraint system warning light comes on, approximately once per week.

The suspension is off idk what it is. I haven’t in done anything to my car I’m the only person that drives it. I keep getting two notifications 1. Supplemental restraint problem see dealer 2. Lane assistant (power(electric) steering problem see dealer.

Brakes: every day for past two years, on every startup car states brake system problem, anti-lock brake problem, and tpms problem; with it having no actual problem with brake system and message disappearing after a few minutes of driving. Srs: intermittent display of srs light while driving reading: airbag system or seat belt tensioners have a problem. Usually appears after passenger airbag light intermittently turning on and off with nothing in front passenger seat. Srs light on dash doesn’t come back on after restarting car. Issue did not appear until seat belt recall last year.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the abs and air bag warning light and several other unknown warning lights illuminated intermittently. The contact that the warning lights had since remained illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle abruptly stopped without the driver’s input. The contact was able to continue driving immediately after each failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel injectors and parking brake switch had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,690.

1. Airbag light on the dash always stays on when the car is turned on. My mechanic checked and said the passenger weight sensor needs to be replaced. 2. Sometimes on cold start all kinds of warning light comes on. See picture for example.

Vehicle suppression system for the airbags switch failed at 54000 miles. The air bags do not work unless switch is working!.

The passenger side air bag is not working. Even with a passenger on the seat, the air bag indicator is off. Sometimes the airbag indicator works but most times it does not detect a passenger.

Supplemental restraint system malfunction which could lead to failure of airbags to deploy. This is a fairly new car and the indicator for failure of this system appeared with no prior collision, deployment of airbags, or tampering with system. Non-deployment of airbags in the event of a collision is a major safety hazard due to a randomly malfunctioning system. The problem has not been confirmed by dealer or independent service and has not been inspected. There is a warning message that appears that does not state what the issue with the restraint system is (electronic or mechanical).

Passenger airbag cutoff indicator shorted-out, causing my passenger side airbag to have the potential not to deploy in the event on an accident. Vehicle is less than four years old and numerous problems are cropping up with the electrical equipment, including this short of the passenger airbag cutoff indicator, which I believe is a safety issue.

Secondary restraint system warning light keeps coming on.
