1 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2026

Everytime I try to turn my wheel it’ll get stiff and the notification will pop up saying “electric power steering system” but then it’ll go back to normal and when I start the car it sounds like it doesn’t want to start at all and like the cords are trying to connect because they start making a ticking sound. I’ve had issues with electrical before to where the airbags and lane assist had to be fixed but the issues seems to keep circling back around. Something going on with the electrical in the car and I have only had it for about a year and a half.

2 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2025

While driving, the power steering warning came on and the steering wheel became extremely tight, making it very difficult to turn. This has happened more than once, most recently on December 8, 2025. The loss of steering assist occurred while the vehicle was in motion and created a serious safety concern. The dealership retrieved diagnostic code c1250-52, which indicates an internal malfunction of the electric brake booster ecu. The steering issue and warning occurred again after the initial diagnosis. The system appears to fail intermittently and without warning. I have owned multiple Honda Accord vehicles over the years and have never experienced anything like this. Sudden loss of steering assist while driving is a safety defect, and similar issues have been reported by other owners of 2018–2022 Honda Accord models.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the steering wheel was extremely firm, with the power steering assist disabled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the steering gearbox and the rack and pinion were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

5 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2025

During interstate driving vehicle detected both road departure and engaged the emergency automated braking. The vehicle attempted to correct the "road departure" by steering the vehicle away from the perceived problem and engaged the brakes nearly causing a collision as it has done numerous times before. I have reported this to NHTSA and american Honda and await a repair of this dangerous issue. Honda has opened a case on this but have had 6 months and no response has been issued.

6 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2025

I recently experienced a power steering failure on my 2018 Honda Accord 1. 5t sport. When going to pull into a parking spot when turning my wheel to the left the power steering failed leaving me on the road. With all the lights coming onto the dash unable to pinpoint a specific issue. Upon taking it to the dealer I was informed that I needed a new “gearbox, steering”. More specifically the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. They sent me a quote for $6,233. 73. As I was unable to afford this I looked into this issue. As this has been a problem for Hondas my car wasn’t qualified for a recall upon looking at the NHTSA website. I am able to provide proof and documentation of the quote with price parts and labor.

7 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2025

The steering wheel "sticks" at dead center when on a smooth straight road. When I try to make a micro adjustment due to road crown, wind, etc. , the wheel won't move without considerable force, then will suddenly give way and jump off center the direction I'm pushing. Then I have to correct back.

8 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2024

All warning lights came on (check engine, emissions problem, brake problem, tire pressure monitoring system problem, cruise control problem, brake problem, steering wheel problem, and lane keeping assist problem). Every light on my dashboard is on I done took it to Honda an had the lights turned off server times still on.

11 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2024

During regular driving, the vehicle engine will stall and lose power, with 9 different warning lights coming on and all advanced driver assistance systems becoming disabled, and I believe abs brakes being disabled as well. This is due to cylinder 3 misfires and the problem is intermittent, but the loss of power can come on randomly and is dangerous on highways as you have to pull over due to the sudden loss of engine power, restart the car, and hope the problem temporarily goes away. The l15be engine used in 10th gen Accord engines is widely known to have a faulty engine block design leading to early head gasket leaks (see links) which results in misfires and I think it is imperative that Honda issue a recall as thus far, they have been ignoring the pleas of the owners. I am planning on replacing the gasket ($4000 personal mechanic. Honda charges closer to $6000) with aftermarket parts ($400 additional) as replacing them with oem parts would just allow this to occur again. Please contact me for more details. . Read more...

15 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2023

The warning lights appear out of nothing and the issue has happened without an incident. I’ve been scared to drive my car with all these dash lights on. I don’t feel safe and I don’t want to put my life or kids life in danger.

16 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2023

After this car was repaired by the body shop, all the automatic systems in the car started flashing and no one could figure out why. It went to four different repair shops over several months, till finally they convinced me to purchase another vehicle when this one was going to be paid off in two months. This problem was well documented by several repair places , and ultimately since it was unrepairable I had to trade it in and got bottom dollar for a non-running car that I owned since the beginning and got screwed.

17 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2023

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at approximately 70 mph, the steering wheel was constantly sticking. 18 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2023

My automatic braking system is activating sporadically with no apparent object in front of me. My car has suddenly come to a complete stop while driving on market street, york PA when there was no traffic in front or to the side of me and luckily no one behind me. The "brake" alert flashed and the car literally screeched to a stop. This happened again when I was in stewartstown, PA and was starting to go over railroad tracks, it suddenly stopped. Again, no one was in front of me or behind me. I routinely drive I-83 from york to harrisburg 3 days a week to go to work. If this would happen to me on I-83, this would cause a serious accident. I contacted apple Honda and was told the system is just really "touchy" and there is no fix. The person I spoke with said a leaf blowing across the road could trigger the system. I have to deactivate the anti-collision feature whenever I drive. This is a serious issue that has been around for several years According to researching the issue and Honda refuses to fix this.

19 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

A loud clicking/knocking noise that sounds dangerous while steering the vehicle at low speed; such as turning into a parking spot or making a u-turn. The noise occurs throughout the day but is not constant. My vehicle has been inspected several times and Honda claims to not hear this loud noise. As soon as I drive away I hear it and all of my passengers hear it. This noise started at the beginning of 2023.

20 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2022

The steering wheel is not a smooth transition from 12 o'clock to 1 o'clock or to 11 o'clock while driving on highway. Feels like the steering wheel sticks and releases even when driving on a smooth stright road. The dealer recommends replacing the steering rack, which is unbelievably expensive!.

21 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2022

The suspension is off idk what it is. I haven’t in done anything to my car I’m the only person that drives it. I keep getting two notifications 1. Supplemental restraint problem see dealer 2. Lane assistant (power(electric) steering problem see dealer.

22 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2022

I bought this vehicle 8-25-2021. It had 22,000 miles on it. It now has 46,000 miles on it. I was feeling a vibration while driving. 7-31-2022 coming back from louisiana into texas I had a flat. When my husband removed the back tire to place the spare on, the tire was absolutely eaten up on the inside wall. There were chunks of rubber missing from the tire and we looked at other rear tire and it was worn beyond repair. I took my car 8-1-2023 to have 2 new back tires replaced and get an alignment, which has to be all wheel alignment due to front wheel drive. I was told that the rear camber had gone out. They quoted me $1000 to repair. I drive 40 miles one way to work Monday through Friday all highway. I do not drive over the speed limit and do not hit pot holes or curbs. Nowhere in my manual is there a schedule for alignment. I will attach a picture of the tires that were taken off 8-1-2022. This very upsetting and dangerous. I would think that a part that serious would last longer than 46,000 miles. And no one can align the tires do to this camber being broken. I don’t have the money to replace tires that often due to a defect on Honda America. I have read numerous posts from other Honda owners having this same issue. Thank you for your time and consideration. Have a blessed day.

23 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2022

I had several incidents where Honda automatically brake without reason. I was driving 75mph and without reason it fully brake and bring my car to complete stop leaving cars to emergency brake. I recently had multiple occasions where it again brake automatically with nothing block in front of the car. The dashboard shows lane departure warning, but I am leaving my lane and it automatically brakes unexpectedly. This car must be recalled for safety of everyone on the road!!!.

24 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

When driving this car at any speed above 30 mph the steering wheel sticks when attempting to turn or make any steering adjustments. This happens while the steering wheel is centered and the car is moving strait forward. This is a dangerous situation when driving in heavy traffic at highway speeds .

25 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2021

Everytime I drive my car for a few hours the eps light comes on and I have to pull over and turn my car and on. I have reached out to the dealer and they refuse to fix it. It has been happening for about 2 years. Close to 3.

The car loses power steering when it gets put in motion.

27 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2021

Was driving straight on I-10 in arizona on carpool lane when suddenly some warning lights came on dashboard car made me veer to the right making me spin out of control causing a crash and hitting the fence.

29 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2021

Honda Accord 2014 - beginning in February/March 2021 driving on a major thruway early morning, my car kept veering from the lane. Warning light "steering required" kept coming on. I could feel the car shaking. This occurred numerous times over the 6 hour trip. Very frightening trying to keep control of the car, trying to keep it from veering out of the lane, while the car is shaking. The "steering required/lane departure" warnings terrified me. This occurred again on another morning on an interstate highway. Car kept veering. Warning signs coming on. Car shaking.

30 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2021

The ads breaking error comes on and the car won't start- this is the 3rd time and is a constant problem for this year- the steering wheel locks up this is very dangerous. This has happened moving and stationary. Honda says it is a simple error my car has less that 30k miles n this is a constant issue.

31 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2020

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle loss motive power, shuttered, and jerked making it difficult to steer the vehicle. A warning message appeared the screen stating “power steering disabled”. The contact was able to merge the vehicle to the side of the road, restart the vehicle, and the message disappeared however, the failure recurred several times. The contact had the vehicle towed to the local dealer who inspected the vehicle however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.

32 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

The steering seems to have a notch or a flat spot in it while driving straight down the road and to correct it when you apply pressure to switch lanes you will oversteer the vehicle.

33 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2020

500 mile trip on the interstate, steering is again (third time now) feeling sticky or like it gets stuck when making small corrections at highway speeds. Steering rack was replaced once, since the problem for a few months but it is back again.

34 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2020

During a 400 mile highway road trip in November 2019 my 2018 Accord steering started to stick. It feels like you have to break a hitch to keep the vehicle in the center of the road. Twice I took it to the dealer but because the problem could not be duplicated nothing was done. Most of the complaints I read this problem occurs during long trips, so unless the tech takes the vehicle on a trip the problem will not be duplicated. Maybe the vehicle or a component on the vehicle has to reach a certain temperature for the issue to show. Turning off features I purchased on the car is not a fix!!! this issue took the joy out of owning this car. I want a replacement on Honda'a dime!!!!!.

35 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2020

Car has almost 15,000 miles. It has developed a strange sticking issue in the steering while driving on the highway. It almost feels like someone is lightly holding onto the wheel as I'm slightly turning and then suddenly let's go. This causes me to overcorrect to stay in the lane and it becomes a fight to keep the car in between lanes. It is most apparent when exiting freeway ramps and changing lanes, although it's also apparent on the freeway when small corrections are needed to keep the vehicle in between lanes. The other symptom is that the car has become difficult to keep in a straight line. It requires constant light correction of the steering wheel because the car sways between the lines on the freeway lane. This is incredibly tiresome on a long drive and it has gotten worse over the past 2,000-3,000 miles. Dealer claims nothing is wrong and that it's the lane keep assist doing it's job. It's not doing it's job if I can't control the vehicle and makes highway tracking unpredictable. I have turned every assist off and it still does it. As a comparison, my wife has a 2017 ex Accord with 28,000 miles and it doesn't exhibit any of the symptoms that my 2018 does. Because of the lack of support and knowledge by the dealer, we feel our only choice is to trade this car in as this is not only an annoyance, but a safety issue as well.
