36 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

I am experiencing severe paint peeling on my 2019 Honda Accord sport in areas that are not typically exposed to environmental wear and tear such as inside the trunk, under the hood and inside the door jams. This appears to be a defect in the paint or application process, as these areas should not be vulnerable to such deterioration under normal use . Despite bringing this issue to Honda’s attention they declined to guarantee the quality of a potential paint repair job. As a result, I had no choice but to repaint the car and my own expense to prevent further damage. I am filing this complaint in hopes that others that have experienced similar issues with their Honda vehicles will report them and that NHTSA will investigate this apparent defect. This could help ensure that Honda takes accountability and provides assistance to affected owners in the future. This defect not only affects the aesthetics but could potentially lead to long-term issues with rust and corrosion in the areas where the paint is peeling . I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue to protect other consumers and encourage manufacturers to address and resolve such quality concerns.

On Thursday November 16th at around 8:00 am I was driving down la cienega blvd going around 30-40 mph. I was about to pass a green light when my 2019 Honda Accord sport started showing the brake signal on my dash. My car suddenly brakes and comes to a complete stop by itself in the middle of the road. There were no cars in front or on either side of me, no potholes or anything of that matter that would’ve caused this to happen. I am now suffering with severe neck and shoulder pain from this unexpected incident. My 1 year was also in the car with me. My car is now being inspected at the Honda dealership where it was purchased.

Failure Date: 11/03/2023

I was highway driving when suddenly a brake light flashed on and off and car came to an immediate stop (then go). There was no use of the brake pedal, nothing ahead of me - and fortunately no one behind be which could have resulted in a serious crash, safety was a major risk!! husband checked fluid, car is now "awaiting" inspection at a reputable diagnostic service location. Read an article about these similar defects/complaints, but the Honda dealership claims there have been no like incidents, complaints or concerns. I read otherwise that indicated such events were under investigation (cnn wire Feb 27,2002). When I called another dealership, they explained that there were not enough complaints to warrant a (safety recall). I beg to disagree!! today's date is 11/04/2023. Thank you.

My windshield has a stress crack I know it's a common problem.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2023

My three year old daughter was locked in the vehicle recently which is a major safety concern and was a very terrifying experience. All door locks were malfunctioning. I was unable to gain access to her for several minutes via my key fob or manually pulling the handle/latch. It was in the 40s, after several minutes I was able to gain access through the drivers door. I struggled to undo her car seat from the front. Finally I was able to reach her and she crawled out through the front seat. I was frantic because I was unable to manually unlock the doors when the door release latching system failed. The very next morning I went to warm up the car to take my daughter to school and 10warnings displayed: tpms, brake system hold, brake system performance, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, adaptive cruise control x2, electric power steering, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation. This incident constitutes as child endangerment in the state of nc. I am terrified and afraid to drive this vehicle, because if in the event of an emergency the doors/car could malfunction again and we would not be able to exit the vehicle. Surprisingly, I took my car the next morning to a scheduled diagnostics appointment with my certified Honda dealership and they failed to identify the problem. This experience is very anxiety provoking and overwhelming to know that the one thing that is supposed to protect us and keep us safe is the one thing that failed us. Someone needs to hold Honda accountable before this defect results in bodily harm/injury and/or death. This is something that should be taken seriously as Honda has had known problems with the body control modules and safety mechanisms. I would like for NHTSA to conduct a causation survey for failure of safety mechanisms. I would like an update after investigations have been conducted. Sincerely, terror stricken and perplexed mom.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2023

The malfunctioning component is the electronic door lock system of my 2019 Honda Accord touring hybrid, specifically the driver's side door. This problem persists and is available for inspection. The failure of this system posed a safety risk as it prevents secure access and egress from the vehicle. I was unable to unlock my vehicle using the electronic key fob or the interior lock/unlock button, which could pose a problem in emergency situations where quick exit from the vehicle is required. The problem has been reproduced over a period of 6-8 weeks, with the issue becoming consistent and isolated to the driver's side door. The issue has not been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center yet, nor has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. My car has recently aged out of warranty and given the experiences of others online, I don't have the money to hand over to the dealer for diagnostic fees with zero resolution. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the issue's occurrence. It started sporadically, sometimes affecting different doors, but in recent weeks, it has been a consistent problem with the driver's door. This problem isn't exclusive to my vehicle. I've read online forums where others, even with different models of Honda Accords, have encountered similar issues, suggesting this could be a common issue across certain models. One person described a similar, erratic door lock behavior where the failure would switch from door to door. It was speculated that the issue could be either software-related or potentially a faulty relay that couldn't supply power to all the actuators simultaneously. Given these circumstances, I think it's crucial to investigate this matter further, as it poses both a security and safety risk for Honda Accord users.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2023

I am experiencing a Honda door lock actuator malfunction. There was an awarded class action lawsuit regarding this recall in 2019. The first time I took it to Honda, but they were unable to replicate the intermittent malfunction and could not further assist me. I have shown them recorded videos of the issue, which can’t be used for diagnoses however, photos and videos can be submitted for evidentiary purposes and for health care treatment. At drop off even the staff member who checked my vehicle in had to climb through the drivers seat to unlock the passenger door. I took it again a second time, and they are only able to replace one actuator since it’s not not operable while it’s an issue with all my doors intermittently. I have taken leave from work to ensure repair. I have to pay deductibles each time until all the doors are resolved.

Had rattling noise coming inside the driver door. Took it to local dealership. Said that the adhesive came off the safety support beam of the door. Told me that they can’t do anything about it, and recommended me to go to an auto body shop. Went to three different shops that all had the same answers: we can’t put adhesive on and put it back together since the piece is a safety structure of the car. They refuse to fix it has one of the shops explained, it would make them liable for any injuries involved in an accident for the beam failing to support the safety structure of the door. Another explains that this a safety defect from the manufacturer, and that the whole door must be replaced for safety regulations. So I decided to take the car back to the dealership, explaining it to the dealers. They still refused to do anything about it, saying that they won’t don’t anything about it, and try finding a place that will glue it back together or do it yourself.

Failure Date: 05/01/2023

My car is making loud siren noise when backing up. I took my car to the dealer a few times and they said it's nothing they can do about the noise. They do not know why the noise is happening. I research other Honda cars and people are talking about the same problem. It's not fair my car is making this loud noise. I was willing to pay for it to be fixed but Honda said they understand but it's nothing they can do. I bought my car brand new in 2019. It's only 2024. This problem started at least 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. Honda is still selling cars with this problem occurring in short time. Not fair!!.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2023

In may 2022, the air conditioning condenser on my 2019 Honda Accord hybrid was replaced due to ac failure. In April 2023, shortly after purchasing the vehicle following a lease buyout, I returned with the same ac issue and was told the condenser may have been defective and it was replaced again. I then took the vehicle to another authorized Honda dealership, where I was told the condenser may not have been replaced previously, and it was replaced again. Dye was added to the ac system at south motors Honda to identify a leak. Despite this, largo Honda later charged me again to add dye, stating they could not access the prior dealership’s diagnostic records, even though both are Honda-authorized dealerships. After continued ac failure, two authorized Honda dealerships have now diagnosed the issue as a leaking air conditioning evaporator and documented the failure with video evidence. Loss of air conditioning impacts driver safety by impairing windshield defogging and creating unsafe cabin temperatures, particularly in hot weather. This represents a premature failure of a non-wear component. This issue has persisted since 2022. The manufacturer declined repair assistance despite repeated repairs and dealer-confirmed diagnostics.

"supplemental restraint system problem. See your dealer" and the air bag warning light was turned on multiple times. Upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the warning lights are not turned on sometimes. But at random times, the failure reoccurred persistently. Noticed that my vehicle has 5 different recalls but my VIN only has one recall needed(?). Managed to figure out that the srs system is faulty due to the front passenger's belt buckle being stuck sometimes. Dealership won't let me replace the belt buckle for free since my VIN is not part of the recall process. Faulty srs won't work if accident occurs and driver is at the risk always. Also, during driving there is a weird struting noise that happens behind the steering wheel. Can't seem to make out what or where the noise is coming from.

1. The ac is not working no more I told the people at the Honda dealer that it will hiss and my car will vibrate in the seats and this been going on for 2 years and I had Honda care and the people at the dealership told me it’s not nun to worry saying it’s common for Honda now I don’t have ac at all.

I will be driving down the road and my screen will turn its self off and then back on.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2022

Is Honda ever going to correct their air conditioning issues? this is the second vehicle from Honda that I’ve purchased brand new that has a/c issues in under a year. The first time, I just stuck it out and sweated to death in my car until my lease ended, now I can’t do that for the safety of my children while living in the deep south. It’s incredibly dangerous for drivers to sit in a hot car- even if the windows are down.

Hi. Just looking for information on how to go about with my car. A few months ago, I was driving within my city in the residential area, and while I was driving, my car quickly, like for 3 seconds, just lost power, there was no warning lights or anything that came on, it just felt like I accidentally touched the brakes real quick while driving, but I didn't. Fast forward to Friday. I was driving home from work on the interstate. There was a big rig gas carrier truck next to me, and all of a sudden with my foot still on the gas my car felt like it was loosing power as if I was putting my foot on the brake, it was at least for 30 seconds as if it was about to come to a complete stop in the middle of the highway, im grateful there was no car behind me, because I really probably would have died getting hit from behind and probably hitting the gas tanker. . But when it did slow down my car swerved and I almost hit the big rig gas carrier truck, but I had to swerve back over into my lane, and about time I got back into my lane the power in the car picked back up (like nothing happened) and I was able to drive home but I just drove slow because I was scared. I almost died, it was scary, and now im afraid to drive my car. I shouldn't be having this problem my car is only 3 years old. I just got this car a few years ago brand new and still paying for it, and I'm trying to see how I can go about this, is it fixable? I have not taken it in to a dealer yet, but from looking it up on line there is a lawsuit going on from Hondas in my year of this happening, that the Honda dealers don't know whats going on yet either.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2022

When I make a turn left or right even the slightest turn on the road and no matter the speed the traction control lights up and immediately at the same time the breaks are applied automatically by the car itself, making my car slow down thus putting me in danger of being hit by the car(s) behind me. Then, all the warning lights start to appear on the dashboard. And they stay on for about 30 - 40 mins then they disappear but themselves. Stopping the car and turning it back on doesn't make them disappear. I've taken the car to the deanship and they said it was the alignment of the tires and that they fixed it but as soon as I drove off the dealership it happened again. I happens every single time I drive. I'm afraid to take the freeway because the self breaking system is so abrupt that it's a miracle that I've not been hit by another yet. I've had this issue since at least 25th of January of this year 2022. For a car to apply breaks by itself because I'm making a slight turn is dangerous and it's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured or worse. I was scared today because I was going 27miles an hour on a regular street when the car applied breaks by itself and the car behind me honked at me. But I never even touched the break paddle. Please take this issue seriously, it's very dangerous to drive like this.

There is a humming noise that randomly started on my brand new Honda Accord. A lot of individuals are having the same issue online and Honda refuses to consider it their problem. It has something to do with the either noise canceling microphone not being glued on or their bluetooth microphone. This is ridiculous that my vehicle which is brand new is starting to have issues and Honda does not take ownership of their issue when obviously it isn’t due to anything other than part being defective….

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2021

Multiple times while driving my car the automatic braking system activated with no reason, brakes were momentarily engaged. It has happened at speeds of 10-75 mph. I and any drivers near me were absolutely put in danger. I took it to the dealer when I first experienced it in 2020 and 2021 they were not able to reproduce it and told me there was nothing I could do. Every time this happens especially when I am on the freeway it is very disturbing and causes me a great deal of anxiety. There is no way to get this to stop. I have attempted to deactivate anything related to the automatic braking feature and it still engages. The orange flashing brake messages come up randomly. Im very afraid I am going to get into an accident. My family has seen enough tragedy and I don't want to add to that.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2021

Tire sensor light keeps coming on and tires are brand new, and air same pressure. Dealership said it was because of tread depth so I got new tires but tire sensor keeps coming on.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2021

Not only does the infotainment screen sometimes black out when I am navigating, but the emergency braking sometimes kicks in on the interstate highway when there is no car in front of me or none on either side. I also get occasional coffee cup icons with a driver alert signal even when I am driving in a straight line, yet conscious of the need to steer a bit to tell the system I am alert. The alerts happen at highway speeds. This has happened quite a few times. The dealer's only response was that Honda is aware and blames the problem on using the cord that must be used to activate carplay and the navigation system!.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2021

At 2000 rpm with the car in motion the anc unit sets up a harmonic drone that is virtually deafening and unsafe. This has happened since the car was new. Honda does not have a solution as of yet and the dealers are unable to provide satisfaction to the customer.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2021

In winter: for the first 25 minutes all the vents blow warm air. After driving for about 25 minutes, the rear vents at the back of the center console start blowing cold air onto the rear seat passengers. If the car sits with the engine running, the vents blow warm air; but after it starts driving, the rear vents blow cold air again. Whenever I have rear seat passengers, I have to close the rear vents. I have taken the car to the Honda dealership and received a meaningless answer that the heat works. This has happened both winters I have had the car.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2021

Very loud roaring noise when driving about 50 mph in cold weather on a highway. This not engine noise, but seems to a glitch in the automatic noise cancelling system that causes a feedback loop resulting in an alarming roaring sound that can cause driver to panic or otherwise be distracted from driving safely.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2021

While driving the car makes a loud humming noise that regulates from low to high noise loud humming noise happens only when car in motion on any street or highway driving straight or around a curve etc. When you stop the noise stops.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2020

All 4 of the vehicle door lock actuators have failed either intermittently or permanently. This results in the doors unlocking and potentially not relocking causing the vehicle to be unsecured. The dealer claims that my vehicle is an isolated incident and that the mileage exceeds the warranty. I maintain that all 4 of the lock actuators failing is not a chance occurrence and that faulty parts were used in the manufacturing process. The failures began happening at approximately 18 months after I purchased the vehicle in new condition.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2020

I have a 2019 Honda Accord hybrid touring. I hear a very loud humming noise coming from the underside (both sides) of the car when I am driving between 50 and 55mph. It gets increasingly louder for a 5 - 10 second span, then goes away completely. It is more prevalent when there is a passenger in the front passenger seat and repeats when I am in that speed range, especially while going around a curve. It has not resulted in any handling issues yet, but I do not know what is being affected.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2020

Sudden engine power loss; merging to highway speed was not possible. Risk to safety was the loss was when needing to merge with traffic at highway speeds. The dealership could not reproduce the problem. The check engine light did come on, but no codes were generated. The check engine light extinguished before the vehicle could be taken to the dealership. Only possible symptom, prior to the event, and still existing, is a lack of power, compared to when it was new. The dealership cannot confirm the cause of this power loss. There are other indications that there is a controls/computer problem, in my opinion. Power assist is not always available, but then suddenly engages, causing the car to jerk. My conclusion is that the vehicle does not immediately recognize the steering input. The problem is most pronounced when traveling straight, on the highway and needing to make a mild lane correction to maintain the lane. The vehicle does not immediately recognize the mild steering input until the steering wheel has been turned significantly. Once the steering wheel has been turned significantly and the steering input is recognized, the power steering engages, causing a sudden jerk and a need to recover control. The dealership has not been able to reproduce this problem. I have been able to temporarily resolve it, by momentarily engaging the lane keep assist. Normal, expected power assisted steering is recovered for a period of time.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2020

Loud humming noise when driving at 52mph. Had speakers replaced which was supposed to correct problem with noise cancellation situation that would correct the loud humming noise but that did not work. Still have loud humming noise at 52 mph.

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2020

The noise issue has these features: 1. It is intermittent. It comes out randomly on highway, and may continue for a few random seconds, then goes away. 2. It is low-frequency and doesn't change. As a comparison, it is lower than 2500rpm engine sound. 3. It is loudness-varying. Each time it comes out with little loudness, but then increases for the next few seconds to an uncomfortable level. It may stay quiet, or increase to any loudness level before it goes away. 4. It is mostly described as humming noise. However, in my opinion not quite the same as engine sound I have had this noise for the past 8 months. This noise tends to come on at around 52-54 mph, it increases in loudness and then promptly goes away. It is not always reproduceable and even though I have taken my car to the dealership they say they don't know what it is. They notate it and send me on my way saying they can't reproduce the sound. I have recorded the sound and they told me they can't help me unless they can reproduce it. I am worried that this may be something serious?.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2020

The collision mitigation system has a problem. Had my 2019 Accord in for an oil change and cms has a problem. Never experienced this before I had the oil changed.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2020

Back in July 4, 2020, the digital part of my instrument panel, heads up display and my infotainment system crashed while I was driving. It took approximately 2 mins to come back on. Today, July 14,2020, the audio, phone and navigation on my instrument panel weren't showing up when I turned on my car. Also my voice assist doesn't work anymore as well as the navigation on my heads up display. I tried calling my dealership to set an appointment but the earliest time they can give me is on the 24th of July.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2020

On July 7th, 2020 I was turning into a parking space at my employers. My foot was on the brake as I coasted into the parking spot. The auto suddenly lurched, accelerated, jumped the curb and hit a brick wall. My foot was on the brake the entire time. The wall is what stopped the auto. I reported this to Honda. They evaluated the auto and found no computer notifications of a malfunction and therefore no issues with the car. I no longer feel comfortable driving this auto.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2020

07/06/20 was involved in an accident due to the plastic gas pedal snapping off and becoming lodged behind the brake pedal preventing adequate stopping that resulted in me rear ending another vehicle. Max speed reached on the freeway before collision was 65 mph. Trying to brake was not smooth and I had to press down extremely hard in order for the braking system to respond and still ended up colliding with the other vehicle at a higher rate of speed than there should have been when paying attention to surrounding traffic, even with a car length distance infront of me at the start of breaking. It is typical of the braking system to engage when "detecting" close proximity to another object or vehicle but, on many occasions there was no one there; however, in the case of todays accident collision mitigation was not responsive. Tire rotation performed at Honda on 6/29/20 with reports that brake lines, fluids, and pads were up to par however this is most certainly not the case. There is currently a recall that has not made its way to consumers for the fuel pump in this car that took me so digging to find. Initiated 5,28,2020 but, will not go in effect until 7,22,2020. I could have lost my life today! such a scary situation to be in.

70 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2020

I was driving straight in the left lane on I-95 and all of the car sensors all started flashing, one at a time. Shortly after, the steering wheel steered to the right and the car lost control until stopping in a ditch. I believe the car computer may have blanked out.
