1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2026

2018 - 2022 models of the Honda Accord sport are known to have a issue with the head gasket overheating and cracking causing cylinder miss fires and engine issue. Honda has refused to acknowledge the issue as a recall and my car recently suffered the same issue.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2026

I turned my car on and about 10 warning lights came on the car- drove it straight to the dealer where they told me the head gasket was leaking into cylinder 3 gave me an estimate of over 5k. Every mechanic I have called has told me how unusual it is for a car not very old and not over heating to have a blown gasket head. I was looking online and have seen how common the blown gasket head was on Honda Accord models 1. 5 from 2018-2022. There is nothing in the car no over heating no damage though could have cause it to leak unless it wasn’t properly installed which seeing how common it is might be the case. And how unusual it is According to many mechanics. The car has 115000 miles but has never had an issue and I wasn’t driving or anything when the warning lights came on.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2026

Engine began running rough and warning lights came on the dash indicating multiple issues and the engine light. Brought it to Honda and the tech diagnosed a head gasket failure. Honda recommended a head gasket repair. Car only has 137,000 miles on it.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2026

I take my car for updates (recall) and now I am being told that the head gasket is blown and damaged the injectors the powertrain might pay for the blown head gasket but not the injectors (which were damaged due to the head gasket blowing) no coolant but the car never ran hot. Honda is trying to stick to me to pay out almost $7000. 00 which is wrong when it went to them for a recall.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2026

I am writing to formally report a severe safety incident caused by a sudden head gasket failure in my vehicle. While driving on a busy highway, the car abruptly entered "limp mode" and stopped accelerating altogether, putting my family’s safety at immediate risk. Simultaneously, all dashboard warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Honda dealership, where technicians confirmed that the sole mechanical issue is a failed head gasket. The vehicle is currently available for inspection.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2026

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the suspected failed components involve the 1. 5l engine system and head gasket on my 2020 Honda Accord. The vehicle experienced frequent overheating along with repeated check engine light activation. Multiple mechanics, including heritage Honda parkville, indicated that head gasket failure is a common issue with this engine type. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? my safety was put at risk due to the vehicle frequently overheating while driving. An overheating engine can lead to sudden vehicle breakdown, engine failure, loss of power, or being stranded unexpectedly in traffic or unsafe locations. The recurring check engine light and unresolved engine concerns created uncertainty regarding the reliability and safe operation of the vehicle during daily commuting and long-distance travel. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. The concern was initially discussed by technician [xxx] at heritage Honda parkville during my service visit on March 19, 2026. The technician advised that the “most common issue” with these engines along with my vehicle is head gasket failure. Additionally, multiple independent reputable mechanics later echoed the same concern, stating they have seen numerous Honda Accord vehicles with the 1. 5l turbo engine require head gasket replacement and, in many cases, full engine replacement. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? the vehicle was inspected by heritage Honda parkville service personnel and has also been evaluated by multiple independent mechanics. The issue has additionally been reported to american Honda corporate under case number xxx. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of informatio.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

My car shut off on the road. I tried to accelerate but all my lights on the dashboard came on. I wasn’t able to accelerate more than 20mph. I was about to make it back home. Today I tried to take it out on a test drive, it’s drivable but I was not able to accelerate. Every time I pressed the gas, my car would stall. This is the 4th time it happened.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2025

Honda Accords have a 1. 5 l engine, which all have an issue with the head gaskets either overheating or mixing coolant into the cylinders. They’re all doing it eventually because there is a design flaw Honda doesn’t want to honor it and the car will just stop on you on the freeway because coolant touches the spark plugs. Honda is denying the issue when there’s a whole facebook page and internet, page of people saying the same thing they’re quoting and unreasonable amount to fix it almost the cost of the car. It is a very dangerous safety issue and eventually someone could die and needs to make a recall immediately before that happens. Most shops don’t even want to touch the car because it’s a safety issue. If we can get this past ASAP for anybody who has that car or anybody that’s gonna buy that car the safety for them in their family.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2025

I would like to report a known issue with the Honda Accord sport 1. 5t. My head gasket went out Aug. 2024 with about 100,000 miles on the dashboard. The cost to change it was about $4100. My turbo charger is now out Dec. 2025, and they are quoting me about $2100 before taxes. The dealership did advise that there is a known issue with the head gasket going out prematurely due to a default with the engine. They also advised that the turbo charger normally goes out after the head gasket is replaced. Please work on having the engine recalled. This is awful. After researching this issue, I see thousands of others are having the same issue. Best regards, yvette j.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2025

I had just left my job in albany and was headed to the latham area, while merging into traffic on I-90 west my 2020 Honda Accord ex-l started to rattle and slow down, numerous lights illuminated simultaneously on my dashboard. I immediately pulled off the north shoulder and restarted my vehicle to no avail, the dashboard lights were still lit and my vehicles speed and steering were compromised. My safety was put at risk due to the immediate issues as previously described while in heavy traffic, I could have easily been involved in an accident due this issue. The system keeler Honda advised me that had failed was allegedly the head gasket leaking coolant into the engine by means of cylinder four. I was later informed by keeler that this is a common issue with the Accord 1. 5 l turbo engines. The problem has been verified by keeler Honda. There was no prior warning light on my dash that would have indicated there was an issue with my vehicle, the lights only all appeared once the incident had occurred.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2025

Car just started jerking and eventually stopped. I had it checked and was told the turbo was gone. Took it to Honda they said the head gaskets are blown. The car is 5 1/2 years old and it not one time ever ran hot. I’m not the only one with this issue. Honda needs to do something to fix this. Every car that goes to service has this issue something is definitely not right.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2025

Engine, coolant system vehicle was cutting off in the middle of driving shaking and jerking.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2025

Blown head gasket at 98. 5k miles.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2025

I have constantly had to replace spark plugs within the last year — all lights are on dashboard. Finally took it and got a p0372 code, rough idling and misfiring, and stalling. Car once cut off on me while driving. Took it to the Honda dealership and it is indeed my fuel injectors and gasket. I have tried to get in touch about a possible recall but the Honda manufacturer are failing to release a recall. With all lights on dashboard, no features of the car can be used (cruise control, road departure, lane keep assist, collision mitigation, hill start assist, traction control, brake hold, and tpms) I’m looking forward to a recall coming as soon as possible. I have done my research and thousands of people are having the same issue, it is frustrating especially with the cost of work having to be done. Nobody should have to purchase a new car because of a defect of the manufacturer or too lazy to investigate the issue. Honda salesmen and mechanics all say the same thing about the 1. 5l sports model. Over 3,400 worth of work due to a problem I did not cause.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2025

The car when pressing the accelerator will decelerate and go limp and won’t move. This is happening to a lot of Honda Accords. This will cause an serious accident.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2025

Was driving on the freeway approximately 70 mph on Saturday October 4th, when car goes into limp mode and throws a engine light on, leaving me stranded on the freeway. Another occurrence one week later on Saturday October 11th when car went into limp mode again driving around 35 mph in the city. Both cases I turned the car off and on and returned back to normal, come to find out with the dealer it is a blown head gasket and their is coolant leaking into cylinder 3. A blown headgasket!!!!! everyone is having these problems.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

The contact pumped the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle was unable to exceed 15 mph. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2025

Five times the past year, while driving on the freeway, the first incident I cannot remember, but I do know that the other four incidents were on a slight incline. The car acted as if it wasn’t getting enough gas and slowed down and was shaking. Giving gas would not help, and it kept slowing down. The check engine light would come on and once I turned off the car and turned it back on, the car acted normal again. Sometimes I had to keep it turned off at least a minute before it would run normal again. I took it to the dealership twice and both times I was told that because the engine light was not on, they did not know what was wrong. I asked if they could check the computer to look for faults, and they said that is a waste of time because not only would I have to pay for the service, but they could guarantee that faults will not be found so it would be a waste of my money. The fact that this has happened so many times. , once every a few months, and the fact that there has been similar problems on other models/years, I would like to report that I think it also has to do with my model and year. While filling out this report, it only showed that it was a 2020 Honda Accord and did not include the fact that it is a hybrid if that makes a difference. My car is a 2020 Honda Accord hybrid. Last incident was this past Saturday. August 9, 2025. This was the worst incident due to it took longer to correct itself and took three tries.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2025

Emissions system problems see dealer light came on took to autozone reading stated turbocharger but light went off. Later all warning lights came on so took to dealership they advised turbocharger as well. After for weeks no light no longer on. More recently emissions system problems light started coming on and off, but this time it will go days without being on then will turn on or it can be on when I first start driving then later it's no longer on. I also had issue with all lights coming on again went to autozone got brake fluid since it was low and they went off. I feel it maybe issue of faulty sensory due to fact car drives fine and light doesn't stay on consistently. I also see Honda currently has proposed class actions for defected turbochargers so wonder if that issue with my car.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2025

Malfunctioning fuel injectors causing misfires stem from a known issue with faulty fuel injectors; a problem widely reported across multiple Honda models equipped with the 1. 5-liter turbocharged direct injection engine. Notably, the Honda cr-v (2019–2023), civic (2019–2022), and Accord (2018–2022) have all been consistently linked to fuel injector failures. The most serious safety concern associated with this defect is the potential for sudden throttle changes, which can trigger the check engine light, cause the engine to lose drive power, hesitate, or even stall—all of which significantly increase the risk of a crash or injury.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2025

Subject: request for recall due to persistent dashboard warnings and engine malfunction dear [manufacturer Honda] / NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a serious issue with my vehicle. All of the warning lights on the dashboard remain illuminated and do not turn off. Additionally, the vehicle occasionally becomes undriveable, unable to accelerate beyond 5 miles per hour. I was informed that the problem is related to the engine. I brought the car to a dealership for inspection, but they refused to repair the issue because the vehicle had just passed 40,000 miles. They stated that the warranty no longer covers the repair, despite the severity of the malfunction. After doing research and speaking with other vehicle owners, I have learned that this issue is not unique to my car. It appears to be a widespread problem affecting many vehicles of the same make and model across the united states. Given the safety risks and the number of affected vehicles, I kindly request that you investigate this matter thoroughly and consider issuing a recall. Owners should not be left responsible for costly repairs when the problem is clearly a recurring defect. Thank you for your time and attention.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2025

When the fuel tank was at 1/4 full/empty, the car started stalling on the highway. We were able to go to a gas station and filled the gas tank. The problem was gone. We went to our mechanic but he could not find the problem. A few day's later the gas tank was 1/2 full/empty and the same problem happened. We filled it up and the problem was gone. We went back to our shop and the mechanic did a diag but didn't find any fault codes. He advised to go to the Honda dealer to take a look at it.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2025

When I turned my car on after work every warning light on the dashboard was on. A few of the warning messages read: collision mitigation braking system problem, adaptive cruise control system problem, hill start assist problem, electric power steering system problem. I first took it to oreilly's to have the diagnostics ran. They told me the ignition coils needed to be replaces. We replaced the ignition coils and the spark plugs. The lights stayed off for about 3-4 days and then the same thing happened again. I took it to the dealership to be checked out and they told me that the head gasket had failed and coolant was leaking into the cylinder and causing the engine to overheat.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2025

Car has only 73k miles , fails to accelerate unless it’s left to run for an hr . All lights on dash . Replaced spark plugs, coils and battery to no avail and took to get diagnosed and was told head gasket and quoted 7k to fix. When car does drive it immediately accelerates to 40 on dash which could cause collision leaving me to feel unsafe to drive .

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2025

The turbo apparently went out without any warning as I was pulling onto the highway from work 5/22/25. I was almost creamed by the cars flying down the road. My vehicle is very well maintained , no issues ever until this. It upsets me rightly to find that this is not only been reported to you all, but there are people who are having to do class action lawsuit to try to get Honda to be held accountable at the very least since they refuse to recall this engine. There are thousands of people out here I have engine installing. Anytime an engine saws there is a danger whether I actually had an accident or made a report or not. And for the manufacturer to know that they have this issue and do nothing about it blows my mind. We can not allow car makers to put engines and cars that have known issues that lead to the lockdown and therefore stalling out of a brand new vehicle. Not everyone knows they need to come here and file a complaint. There are so many more people with this same issue. I don’t have an incident report because by the grace of god I was able to avoid the incident. How many people have to get hurt before we make Honda accept this critical engine damage is their responsibility to fix. That doesn’t even include the thousands of people who have spent their hard earned money to purchase a car. They’re supposed to be number one and safety only to have to deal with the engine installing. Is my hope that you would look further into any investigations you may already have people should not have to file lawsuits to get Honda to fix this. It is dangerous and it is not acceptable. On top of that it’s extremely pricey a big deal to force your customer to foot when they’ve done nothing wrong.

30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2025

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated the failure was a recurring failure. The local dealer was aware of the failure and diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

31 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2025

While diving at highway speeds (first at 55mph in may 2025 and then again in July 2025 at 65mph) I got a warning on screen about power loss and a critical failure and that power will be reduced and to stop at the side of the road. Within 30 seconds or a minute of the warning the car power cut out significantly impacting the speed and both times almost causing traffic behind me to hit me from behind. I took it to Honda dealership in dulles, va back in may 2025 and they told me it was the electric water pump which I had replaced. Now in July it happened again and this time I had my wife and child with me in the car as well as a guest. I had to pull over and all the warning lights started to flash (everyone of them). I have taken it back to Honda but having a car that goes from 65mph to 25mph on the highway with no warning to others is a recipe for disaster. Apparently this is a known issue with the hybrid system and the battery needs replaced (from online Honda forums) which Honda is not doing unless forced. I am still waiting for my dealer to get back to me but its exactly the same problem as the other notes I saw online. My car only has 46,000 miles.

32 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2025

Driving on the freeway and the car started to lose power and DE-cellerate, eventually stopping. After leaving it overnight, I returned and the car started. I slowly drove it to a dealership within 3 miles. The dealer said they could not replicate the issue. They did find a "labor diag found in history code p0304" .

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2025

Subject: turbocharger underboost – safety concern on 2020 Honda Accord ex-l I am reporting a serious safety issue with the turbocharger system on my 2020 Honda Accord ex-l with the 1. 5l turbocharged engine. The vehicle has repeatedly triggered diagnostic trouble code p0299 (turbocharger underboost), indicating the turbocharger is failing to generate sufficient boost. As a result, the vehicle suffers from sudden loss of power, especially during acceleration and highway merging. This power loss occurs without warning and severely impacts my ability to drive safely in traffic, increasing the risk of accidents. There are currently no recalls or manufacturer advisories addressing this issue, despite numerous online reports from other Honda owners with the same engine and problem. This suggests a possible design flaw or premature component failure in the turbocharging system. Given the frequency of this issue and its impact on vehicle safety, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter and consider whether a recall or manufacturer service campaign is necessary. Symptoms include: •sudden engine power loss •error code p0299 •inability to accelerate safely •safety risk during lane changes and merges first occurrence: April 20, 2025 ongoing issue: yes mileage at first occurrence: 111, 000 crash or injury: no thank you for your attention to this matter.
