1 Warning problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2026

In Feb. 2026, I had a software recall service performed on my Honda Accord. Later that same day, a persistent error message appeared on my dash: software update not available see dealer. I contacted the dealer and they said sometimes that error message clears on its own and to wait and see. A few days later as I was leaving work, I turned my car on, put it in reverse and realized I had no propulsion or power steering. I put the car back in park and restarted it and drove it straight to the dealer where it sat for about three weeks as they tried to clear the error message. They were not able to reproduce the issue I reported with my car being on but without power. I picked up the car on 3/16/26. After leaving the dealership, it began sputtering and lurching. I could see on the powertrain display that the car was not communicating well between the engine and hybrid battery. I pulled into a parking lot and put the car in park and it began functioning normally. I called the dealer and they said to bring it back if that happened again. It has not. Tonight, I was pulling up to a red light when my car suddenly slammed on the brakes and displayed lane departure mitigation off. I attempted to restore that safety feature and realized my car had lost power. It did restore power and I was able to drive home, but I am terrified of my car since it engaged the braking system for no reason and disabled a safety feature plus losing power. During my car's time in the service department, it got a new can gateway module and telematics unit along with repeated attempts to make the software update glitch free to eliminate the persistent warning messages that had been displaying. Honda tech support was involved, and I have contacted Honda corporate with my concerns about the safety of my car but am waiting for a response. My perspective is the software recall update ruined my perfectly good car and I am worried I am going to lose power and get injured or worse.

2 Warning problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2026

Car parked for 6 days while on vacation. Came back it started fine but 30 mins into travel, I lost power steering while on the highway next to a tractor trailer and the warning lights were shifting through a cycle of warnings of things not working. It told me to go to the dealership which I brought on my way home. They looked and said it was because I didn't drive it. The car is 1 year old and that battery should be working. I travel at least 120 miles a day5 days a week so there isn't a deficit of charging. Regardless, this should not be normalized by Honda. There should be something I can do to check this situation prior to driving. I do have a video of the cycle of warnings but I can't upload it here. Contact me for it if you would like it.

3 Warning problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2025

My car started shaking like it didn’t want to go. My engine light came on. Then it showed road departure mitigation system problem, collision mitigation system problem, adaptive. Those control problem, and emissions system problem then says engine is not functioning properly.

4 Warning problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2024

On 11/11/2024 while at an intersection with a redlight, I was the first car in the "merge to the right" short lane, stopped and waiting on right lane traffic on the road that intersected to clear. When it was safe to go, I moved my foot to the accelerator and nothing happened. I realized my vehicle had lost power / "died;" that all dashboard lights were out. I quickly put my vehicle gear in "park" position and restarted. It did restart but immediately a red warning light began flashing saying "brake system failure" and "take vehicle to dealer. " I was terrified as I proceeded in the right lane of traffic since I had vehicles behind me as well as in front of me and I had to cross an intersection with traffic merging from an interstate highway. There was not a safe place to go; all businesses along this stretch had no entry except on their back side. I had to proceed across several major intersections before I could get to a safe place. Meanwhile, warning lights continued and included more than brake system failure. One was showing a warning diagram about changing lanes of traffic which I had to do. Obviously, brakes worked because I was able to stop when needed but I was afraid the brakes would not work which could have been deadly for myself and others. Once I was stopped and in a safe place, I called Honda roadside assistance and my car was towed to the nearest Honda dealership. As of this writing (six days from incident), Honda dealership is still investigating; they have not given me a cause or solution. They are providing me with a loaner car. There is no recall on 2024 Honda hybrid touring although there are multiple posts online with people saying they had same thing happen with this model vehicle.

5 Warning problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2024

Purchased new in Feb 2024. On June 26, 2024, at 1,207 miles all safety features became inoperable while driving and all failure lights on dash ignited. I took the car to the dealer, and they said the ecm controlling the adas systems failed and needed to be replaced, this required replacement of the rack and pinion because they are integrated. I got the car back and immediately noted a difference in handling from the new car I purchased in February, particularly with the lane departure and lane keeping option; the car consistently drifts over the lane lines when the lkas system is engaged, and sometimes realizes the car is leaving the lane and will automatically self-correct by a hard right or left into the adjacent lanes. I took it back to the dealer and the tech took it for a ride and came back saying the car was trying to kill him. He test drove five other Accords and had the same issue. The tech then said he has a new Honda crx and his does not have this issue but all Accords he drove did. The car now has 1,500 miles on it and I refuse to drive it because I can't trust the safety features since the rack and pinion was replaced. The dealership submitted an incident report to Honda and we have not heard back from them yet. I have 4 other cars ranging from 1971-2013; I feel safe in them and will drive them until Honda can provide me the safe and reliable car I thought I purchased in February.
