Rear brakes on 2008 Honda Accord are getting stuck. I have a manual transmission and am force to leave the car in gear when I shut it off because the park brakes get stuck everytime I use them. When I went to the dealer and I was told that it was because it needed brake and rotors needed to be replaced. I had the repair done and the next day the same thing happened. Which confirmed what I thought originally that it was the emergency brakes.

2008 Honda Accord rear brake failure.
Premature brake wear on Honda Accord 2008 models. These new cars require expensive brake repairs (new rotors and brakes) as frequently as every 15k miles. Rear brakes are failing so soon after purchasing a new car.
I have a 2008 Accord and the brakes started squeaking at around 1000 miles so took it to the dealership and told me that everything was fine and it needed a break in period. Then around 10k miles noise got so loud that I can hear it with the window up and radio on. Now at 20k miles the dealership told me that I needed new brake pads for both front and the back. On my old Toyota tacoma I did not needed new pads until around 70k miles. I think there is a problem with the brake design. There are a number of concerns on the web about the premature wear.
Rear brake pads are wearing down prematurely. I have a 2008 Honda Accord ex-l and have gone threw two pad replacements and one set of rotors replaced and am about to replace rotors again. I contacted Honda to inform them that two mechanics have seen the brake pads from the front and the rear. They were amazed at how quickly the rear pads wear down. Honda response that the braking system was new and the braking power now has a 60 - 40 distribution. 60 % on the rear and 40% on the front. Every mechanic that I've spoke to about this stated that if the vehicle was rear wheel drive then they can understand "somewhat" but for a front wheel drive vehicle the front brakes should be taking most of the power to stop. Never the less , Honda stated that they are aware of complaints about the same issue and that they were correcting the issue but my case is not the same. Every online article I read showed the exact same issue I encountered. All I want is my brakes to be corrected before I die or any one of my kids die. Somewhere online I was told that a class-action lawsuit was filed with Honda with regards to the brake wear.
The rear brakes on my 2008 Honda Accord have worn prematurely. It was necessary to replace the brake pads at 22,000 miles.

Just like everyone else, I am experiencing brakes issue. It is with great disappointment that I had purchased a car that squeals. I started hearing the brakes at 7000 miles. Initially I thought my brakes are already depleted but wondered, with such a low mileage, it couldn't have been the case. I brought it to the Honda service center and they mentioned that my brake pads are in perfect condition and the reason for the noise is that the materials used in manufacturing the brakes makes that horrible noise. I complained at american Honda and talked to albert chan - the highest ranking customer service person in this region (west coast) and he said, and I quote "it is a normal characteristic of a Honda Accord to have the brakes make the noise as of right now". He even mentioned that american Honda thinks that this is not 'yet' an issue. Sad to say, they have poor customer service and poor car quality. To think I bought the top of the line Honda Accord - with all the fixings!.
Brakes failed prematurely - at approximately 40,000 miles, parking brake locked/seized without brake light illuminating and caused $700 worth of repairs, including new rotors, pads, etc.

At around 13k miles, the rear brake needed to be replaced.
Premature brake wear on the rear brakes at 20,000 miles.
Parking brake released on it's own while removing boat from waterway and car rolled into water and was completely submerged.
Was attempting to explain to my son how to stop my 2004 Honda Accord by pulling the emergency brake, while the car was moving in cruise control. The cruise control does not disconnect. Pulling on the emergency brake only makes the cruise control increase the speed of the engine.
On 2/17/04, I was turning left to get out of a parking lot. When I applied the brakes to stop, I heard a loud popping noise and then it sounded like something fell off of the car. The dealership said no problem was found, that they were unable to duplicate. 263 miles on it. On 5/21/04 I was driving down a main road and I noticed a lot of red brake lights in front of me, I hung back about four car lengths, and as I got to about three car lengths I knew I was going to have to stop so I put my foot on the brake and the car would not stop, I literally had to stand on the brake petal with two feet, and pulled on the emergency brake at the same time, the car kept on moving forward, the car made a very loud grinding noise; and finally the car stopped inches away from the car in front of me. I inched the car over to the side of the road and called the dealership and they said to get the car right down to the dealership. I drove there about 10 miles an hour with my 4 way flashers on all the way. They supposedly road tested the car for brake noise and checked lining, they said everything was fine, that they were unable to duplicate problem. I was very nervous but had to go to the doctors, so I carefully drove the car down the same road and had to stop again, I applied the brakes and the noise and not being able to stop happened again, I swerved to the right to avoid hitting the car in front of me. Mileage 1721 miles. I stopped the car and called the dealership again, they told me to bring the car back, mileage 1741 miles, another trip with the flashers on at 10 miles an hour, they provided me with a rental car, my car is still at the dealership, some area representative is supposed to contact me, I called today 5/26/04 and they still do not have any answers. I am deathly afraid to drive my car that I love again, I want a new Honda Accord, I believe this one is a lemon and will never feel comfortable driving myself and especially my grandchildren in it again.
