Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 1998 Honda Civic - part 1

Tl- the contact owned a 1998 Honda Civic coupe. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, when she drove into a truck. The airbags did not deploy. The contact sustained a fractured collarbone, left knee and right shoulder was bruised. The contact did seek medical attention for her collarbone. A police report was filed. I was involved in an accident broadside another car with my front end. The front of my car ended up being totaled and my 1998 Honda Civic ex airbag did not deploy. I contacted both Honda corporate and they referred me to there 2 field specialists. There reply was my seat belt sensor told my airbag sensor it did not need to deploy. Honda said I had no case with them. I think all I got is the run around. I honestly want the answer to this question. Also to know why Honda does not stand behind what they make. I believe the airbag failed for some reason!! I have had 2 prior neck surgeries and received several injuries from this accident.

On Feb. 10, 2008, I was driving my Honda Civic lx on highway 400, junction 89, my car lost control, and because there were snow on the ground, I cannot stop the car, I keep on pumping the brake, as if I used the abs, I would have slide down to the valley. However, I was not able to have control of the car at all and it hit head on the guard rail, the whole front and engine was completely crushed. With such kind of impact, the air bag should deploy, but it did not deploy, the car was unrepairable and is a total write off. The police and the ambulance took me to the hospital. However, this is not the first time that the air bag did not deploy, as one time a woman came out from a plaza without looking that it is all clear, her truck hit the right side and the right front of my car, the air bag did not deploy either.

After being rear ended at approximately 50 mph , the consumer struck the vehicle in front of his vehicle and the driver seat back broke. The air bag did not deploy.

Both driver and passenger side air bags failed to deploy when the consumer was involved in a major collision.

In a severe head-on crash that totaled my 1998 Honda Civic ex both the driver's and passenger airbags failed to deploy. According to the police, body shop and other witnesses along with the supplemental restraint guide provided with the vehicle, the crash fit the exact description and criteria of one where the airbags should deploy. In investigating this problem on the NHTSA website, I came across a recall for this problem (dated October 97 - 3 months before I leased the car) I have all documentation for the vehicle and can find no reference to either this recall being performed nor receiving notice of said recall.

Consumer called complaining about having problems with air bags not deploying. While driving vehicle was involved in a collision where the air bags did not deploy. Dealer was contacted, and stated that they did not know why the air bags did not deploy.

I was involved in a head-on collision at 35mph and the airbag did not deploy.

I was traveling on a wet road at 40mph. When applied brakes, the body of the vehicle jerked forward abruptly and the brakes locked up on me, causing the vehicle to skid off road. The vehicle hit concrete blocks and totaled the front end. The air bags failed to deploy. Ts.

Consumer collided in the rear of another car travelling approximately 30-35mph. Both the driver and passenger air bags did not deploy. Ts.

Front end of Honda Civic was demolished and nothing protected driver from hitting windshield even with seat belt on her. This car was for teenager and dealer was asked specific questions about the safety of the vehicle including the air bags. We were told that car was very safe and everything was in working order. Now we know that the air bags were not working. Dt.

While stopping at red light vehicle was rearended and pushed into a vehicle in front. Driver's airbag did not deploy, consumer hit head on rearview mirror. Vehicle was totalled.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision of approximately 40-60 mph, and both air bags did not deploy. Manufacturer was notified. Feel free to provide any further information.

Consumer's daugther was driving about 35 mph, when attempting to avoid a pedestrian, rear ended another vehicle. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy.

My wife regina was driving the car she hit a car broadside that had run a red light. She was going about 20 miles per hour, and the other car was going about 25 miles per hour. The failure was that the air bags did not deploy. Officer peterson from the meadville city police filed the accident report. The accident happened at the intersection of park avenue and north street in the city of meadville, PA 16335.

My car is totaled by another drivers negligence; I was told by a lawyer that because my son and I were not killed in the accident we could not file a claim against the manufactor for the airbags not deploying even though it was a head on colllison. I called the manufactor and all the lady told me was that she would send me a "brochure" on how the airbags worked. I know my son and I were extremely lucky in this accident, however I still think something is wrong with the attitude I have received. I still have to live with the pain of hearing my sons voice scream in terror over and over again in my head and I think its one of the worst things a mother has to go through with her child.

Drive and passenger side airbags did not deploy when vehicle was involved in a rear end accident. The entire front end of the vehicle was destroyed.

Have had three tires go flat within the first year of ownership. Accident was head on into another vehicle who pulled out damaging entire front of car, airbags did not deploy. Floorboard leak was repaired and sealed within 1 week of ownership. ( dot number: db7j c11 tire size: p185/65r14 ).

While driving 60 mph vehicle changed lane, and for some reason it went out of control and spinned around, hitting a tree at a frontal impact. Upon impact, driver's and passenger's airbags did not deploy, which did not protect the occupants in the crash. Please provide further information and VIN#.

Vehicle struck rear of another vehicle, brakes were locked at 40 mph, seat belt did not lock,allowing drivers face to hit steering wheel, air bags did not deploy, Honda contacted, and has shown no interest in investigating or checking the car. Stated to take it to the dealer after it was repaired, and if anything was wrong, they would replace parts.

The consumer has experienced problems wiith driver's and passenger's side air bags. Vehicle was involved in a front end collision in which air bags failed to deploy. The manufacturer has yet to be contacted.

The vehicle was at an exit when a truck rear ended the vehicle, throwing the car 69 feet into another vehicle. Airbag did not deploy, and the front seat broke. Dealer contacted. One person was injured in accident.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision at about 70 mph . Upon impact, the airbags did not deploy. The passenger, who was restrained was knocked unto the rear behind the driver. Driver and passenger sustained minor injuries. The dealer has been notified.

While driving, consumer was cut off by another vehicle which sped up to pass her in the high speed lane of the highway, leaving only 10 to 15 feet cleareance, and then slammed on brakes as the vehicle soon passed the consumer, she then swerved to avoid colliding with the vehicle, and lost control, striking the center guard rail head-on in which the airbags failed to deploy.
