Front Air Bag problems of the 1998 Honda Civic

98 Honda Civic driving down freeway doing anywhere between 60-65mph when passenger air bag deployed. There were no sudden stops or pot holes to have caused this; the vehicle was not in a accident. The air bag cracked the windshied.

I am looking for help. My 98 Honda Civics airbags deployed for no reason at all. I parked my vehicle, turned the ignition off & both air bags exploded in my face! don carlton Honda in tulsa did look at the car & stated it is not their problem. My insurance company says the damage is not covered because it is a manufacturer malfunction. As I am conducting my research, I found that the inferior algorithms is a known airbag defect and that they can deploy or fire for no reason, which is exactly what happened to me. The dealership does not believe me. I am out $3,800 assett, I have no transportation, I am a single mother going to school full time, this is very stressful. I am so afraid that this could have happened as I was traveling down the highway at 65 mph with my 2 yr old in the car! we could have been killed! how many other Honda drivers are at risk? the consumer stated incured $188 in tow charges and would like to be reimbursed for such charges. The consumer provided pictures of the defect, recall notice, and the value of the vehicle obtained through kelley blue book. Updated 12/12/07.

While driving 35 mph, the vehicle collided with a horse. Upon impact, the air bags did deploy. The driver and passenger sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.

While driving between 40-45 mph vehicle went over a dip in the road. This resulted in both frontal air bags deploying. Driver sustained hand bruises and burns from the contents in the air bags and when it deployed. Also, air bags cracked the front windshield. Vehicle found currently at a body shop.

While turning left at 15 mph, red light runner moving at 40+ mph hit the left driver side of car, turning it completely around causing substancial front end damage ($5000+). Driver and passenger sustained slight injuries while no airbag(s) deployed.

Vehicle was involved in a t-bone collision of 40-45 mph impact and neither air bag deployed. Dealer and manufacturer have not been notified. Feel free top provide any further information.

I was involved in a rear end collision that pushed me into the car in front of me. I was stopped at an intersection along with the car in front of me. We were both stopped turning left. Upon inpact none of the airbags deployed. I had serve brusing from the seatbelt. My front selt (driver side) was broken becouse the impact was so harsh.

Consumer was involved in a rear end collision while sitting at light. Also, consumer's vehicle was rear ended. Upon impact, none of the airbags deployed. Please provide any further information.

In a frontal collision none of the air bags deployed on impact.

Vehicle was going 35mph when frontal air bags didn't deploy. Vehicle was involved in a head on collision. Honda was notified. Please provide more information.

Within three to four minutes my airbags deployed for no apparent reason, causing me to pull to the side of the freeway, not realizing what had happened the car was full of smoke from the release of the airbags. Resulted in burning of the face.

Oncoming vehicle made u-turn right in front of me, causing me to crash into them @ 30mph. No airbags deployed despite heavy damage to front of car.

Driver's airbag didn't deploy after hitting head-on another vehicle on driver's side door. Consumer is contacting dealer to have an investigator look at reason.

While driving 30 mph consumer had a front impact accident, neither airbag deployed.

Consumer was traveling about 50mph on highway, and there was a stalled car in front of her. There were no lights or anyything showing. Consumer's vehicle hit other vehicle from behind. Upon impact, driver's airbag didn't deploy, and driver sustained injuries.

Consumer was traveling 30mph & another vehicle was on the wrong side of the road and hit head-on. Airbags didn't deploy. Manufacturer said that they don't know why it happened. Also, manufacturer doesn't seem to be assisting with the problem.

Stopped at red light and was rearended by another vehicle. Pushed into pickup in front, and neither airbag deployed. The impact was so severe that it left an imprint of the license plate from the another vehicle. Didn't contact dealer.

Was traveling approximately 40-45mph when another vehicle cut quickly out of lane to right. Left little space between other vehicle which was rearended. Upon impact, neither air bag deployed.

1) srs light has been on since purchasing vehicle in 1998. 2) vehicle has been in no accidents,no way to tell if air bags will deploy. 3) dealer was unable to check equipment on saturdays,until recently,which means equipment is out of warranty.

The consumer has been experiencing problems with driver's and passenger's sides air bags. When involved in a front collision, airbags deployed too early, causing unnecessary damage. Dealership has been contacted. . Et.

Both airbags deployed without hard braking or a collision. Driver lost control and was injured.

While driving in a parking space, vehicle accelerated and went over concrete in space and hit a wall. Repairs done, both airbags deployed. Dealer cannot duplicate the problem.

No deployment of the air bags during accident, minor injuries to consumer head,neck. Yh.
