Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 2000 Honda Civic

Tl- the contact owned a 2000 Honda Civic. The contact stated that a recall notification was received with NHTSA campaign number: 20v027000 (air bags) and taken the vehicle for the repair at robertson's palmdale Honda, 455 auto vista dr, palmdale, CA 93551, where the recall repair was completed. However, the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, and was veering off to the right hand side of the road, and when making a left turned, the contact tries to correct herself, the wheel turn to the left and crashed into a telephone pole and was wrapping around the pole, the air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained a fracture risk, a bruise chest, a head concoction split open that required medical attention. The contact stated that she was unconscious and was not aware if a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 265,000. Aw.

I was involved in a single car, weather related accident. I was traveling approximately 35-40 miles per hour in heavy snow. I was wearing my seatbelt which came unlatched upon initial impact with a guard rail on the rear passenger side. My car then crossed the road and went into a ditch, striking some large boulders. That impact was on the front, driver side of the vehicle. The airbag did not deploy and the car was significantly damaged and declared a total loss. I was injured with a broken right arm, broken right leg, nine broken ribs and significant lacerations to my head and right ear from impacting the rear view mirror and front windshield. I spent 12 days in a critical care unit and 18 days in a rehabilitation center for physical therapy. I had to have plates and screws installed in my leg and arm to repair the broken bones. My husband inspected and tested the driver seatbelt and while it did appear to hold on some solid latches of the belt, was able to observe it fail and come unlatched after hearing a solid click/latch sound and then pulling with hand strength on the belt having it come unlatched.

The contact was seated in the front passenger seat and her air bag did not deploy in a timely manner. As a result, the contact's head struck the front windshield. When it deployed, the passenger air bag caused skin abrasions on the left forearm that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified. The cause of the failure was unknown. The failure mileage was 137,589.

I was driving down riverside in rockford. When I entered the intersection at riverside and rockton, a car turned in front of me. I had no time to react and hit the car at 40 mph. My two door 2000 Honda Civic ex is totaled due to the amount of damage sustained to the front of my vehicle. However, my airbags never deployed. I never had any airbag lights on in my car prior to the accident or any warnings indicating that the airbag did not work.

The contact owns a 2000 Honda Civic. While turning a corner between 60-70 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle and struck a dirt bank on the side of the road. His head struck the windshield and the air bags failed to deploy. The contact suffered a concussion and had a cut/bruise on his forehead from striking the windshield. The front end and rear of the vehicle were damaged. The contact does not know what happened after the crash because he blacked out. A passerby woke him up and called 911. The contact did not know how long he was unconscious. The vehicle was rendered as destroyed. The police arrived and filed a report. There were no other passengers in the vehicle and the contact was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 108,000.

The contact stated the srs air bag light illuminated. She was concerned if there was an accident the air bags may not deploy. The dealer stated the srs and both air bags needed to be replaced. The vehicle has not been repaired.

The front air bags did not deploy during front end collision. There was a violent front impact collision with roadside fencing that totaled the vehicle.

While sitting at an intersection consumer's vehicle rear ended another vehicle. Upon impact, both frontal air bags deployed. The windshield was shattered and cracked. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the air bags were sensitive for the make/model and year. Air bags could not be deployed if non sensitive. This could not happen due to the computer sending out the signals for the deployment of the air bags . Driver sustained head injuries.

Inviolved in a crash involving the front of my vehicle at approx 30-35 mph and the air bags did not deploy. Slight injury to the driver.

Manual transmission jumps while driving also does not want to go into second gear. Makes wierd grinding sound while driving slow. Car shutters and shakes violently while in 5th gear in excess of 70 mph. Car shuts off by its self( was told VIN not in sequence for ignition recall). Right front springs sticks and some times makes a ( " boing" ) sound. Car keeps pulling to right even after alignment. When heater or defroster are on they make a loud chirping sound. On cold or rainy days steam will pour out of engine compartment smelling like radiator fluid. Was in 2 minor accidents one front end colision one rear end colission both about 30 mph and air bags did not deploy. Engine is becoming rusty and coroded. Drivers power window is slow to go up and front seat belts will not retract. Engine light comes on and car loses power and gas mielage. Goes offf when gas tank is filled. Car has been to dealer numerous times for Honda scheduled service and also while it was under warranty. All the problems adressed above were told to dealer who said they could not find a problem. . But they sure did when my warranty expired. Now they will not fix anyhting unless I pay for it.

I was involved in a frontal impact crash and the air bags did not deploy.

While pulling into a parking space, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and lurched into the air, resulting in a collision. The consumer's foot was on the brake pedal when the acceleration occurred. The dealership was not providing any assistance to determine what caused the failure. Also the driver's side seat belt failed to retract, it was loose. This resulted in the consumer impacting the steering wheel. Prior to this incident the seat belt recall repairs were performed 3 times. The air bag did not deploy as well.

The vehicle was involved in a frontal collision, the air bags failed to deploy and the seat belt failed to restrain the consumer.

Consumer states that when hit at 50mph in the front center of the vehicle the air bag did not deploy causing minor injuries to the consumer. Dealer notified ts.

While driving 45 to 50 mph vehicle hit a tree with frontal impact and airbags failed to deploy. Driver was injured. Have not contacted dealer.

While driving 40-45 mph, vehicle was involved in a head-on collision. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy, resulting in an injury. Vehicle was totaled.

Front end collided with another car then head first into a concrete barrier with enough force to crush front end and make the car move up the barrier. Upon impact, air bags failed to deploy.

On June 30,2001 my daughter jennifer was in a car accident. Jenny was stopped at a red light while waiting for the light to change our Honda Civic 2000, was rear ended. The Civic was pushed into the car in front. The Civic has damage to the front and rear ends of the car. The 2000 Honda was totaled,the airbags never deployed. I would like to known why the airbags did not go off.

Consumer was involved in collision while driving at approximately 35 mph, broadsided a vehicle head-on . Consumer did not have time to apply brakes, dual airbags did not deploy, causing face/neck injuries and whiplash, even with seatbelts worn.

While driving 65mph applied brakes to slow down, released brakes, and applied brakes again. But, had no brakes, and rear ended another vehicle in front. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy. No injuries.

My 17 year old daughter went through a red light on Dec. 12, 2000. She sideswiped a 1993 Volvo. She hit so hard that our 2000 Honda Civic did a 180 degree spin then re-hitting the volvos rear with the passenger side of the 2000 Civic. This then pushed the Volvo into a stopped Jeep at the red light. Our Honda Civic initially hit the Volvo straight on at about 40+ miles per hour. The Honda's front end was completely destroyed. The problem is that neither airbag in the Honda deployed. This was not an offset crash. The front end directly hit the driver side of the Volvo. No braking was involved and the volvos front air bags did deploy. My daughters legs were very bruised as well as her side and neck. She was wearing her seatbelt as this is the only thing that saved her life. The 200 Honda Civic has been classified as totaled by american family insurance. I bought this newer model car for the airbag safety features especially for such a young driver. Why at an impact of 40+ miles per hour with a direct frontal hit would the airbags not deploy in a 2000 model Honda Civic??? yet a 93 Volvo when hit from the side recognized enough impact to deploy its front air bags.
