Takata recall. We were recently notified of coverage in the airbag recall and received the instruction to avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until the (currently unavailable) repaid has been performed. This caused me to notice that the "passenger airbag off" indicator was not illuminating even when the front passenger seat is empty. I am concerned that the dangerous defective airbag remains active even without a passenger there. I called the Honda recall center and spoke with a supervisor, ms. Vanessa robinson, who told me my only recourse was to bring my car in for servicing to a dealer at my own expense to have the airbag indicator checked. I think I can reasonably take the car's user display at face value, suggesting that there is an issue with the sensor causing the airbag to remain active, such that Honda should provide an interim mechanism to address this problem as part of the recall. I am particularly concerned given that we used our 2006 Honda Civic in texas for many years, where I understand the climate increases the risk from the defective airbags. Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.
I have been given the initial notice since last 3 months and yet no remedy is available. I was advised not to drive the car without providing me an alternative/rental mode of transportation. I travel 50 miles, everyday. This is the only car that I have and my fiance cannot even ride with me, without taking the danger of being killed by the faulty airbags. My car also shows sometimes the airbag light, for which dealers want $100 to diagnose.

I recently had my air bag light come on. Car was not in an accident. Took it to the dealer paid 115. 00 for a srs diagnostic. They said that the passenger seat weight sensor was faulty and was not receiving any signal. They recommended replacing the passenger outer and inner weight sensor at a whopping cost of nearly 900. 00 this manufacturing safety failure is apparently not covered under warranty. They covered my failing paint job one year ago but fail to cover a safety issue that if in an accident will not deploy my passengers airbag and also wont lock the seat belt putting anybody in that seat at grave danger. Since the sensor is faulty and does not detect anyone sitting in the passenger seat. Other Civic owners seem to be having the same issue. How can one get the dealer to own up to its product and replace its faulty safety equipment in their vehicles. Smh.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic. While driving over a curb, the seat belt warning indicator illuminated and the seat belt failed to retract. The dealer stated that all the air bags were disabled. The vehicle was repaired, but the air bag indicator illuminated intermittently. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 31,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic. The driver's side air bag deployed when the drivers door was closed. The air bag light was illuminated after the air bag deployed. The dealer stated code f311 indicated left side deployment and the vehicle doesn't appear to have any body damage. The dealer also stated that there was no warranty for the failure and to request assistance from the insurance company. The vehicle is currently at the repair shop. The insurance company agreed to assist her with the repairs. The failure mileage was 21985 and the current mileage was 25000. Rk.
2006 Honda Civic problems with the airbag system. Consumer states that airbag indicator lamp states off and is unsafe in case of an accident. Dealer reset the light twice. The consumer was informed by a representative that the dealer tries to avoid replacing the defective part because of the cost.
