6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2022

Engine overheats due to a crack in the engine block causing the coolant to leak. Overheated engine smokes and has the potential for fire. I did my research and spoke to handful of certified mechanics, the solution is as I understand is to replace the engine. There was a recall notice sent September 2014 to address this issue which I did not receive nor I had a problem at the time of notice. Could someone please look into this for us, it would greatly help me and my family to be safe on the road while driving this vehicle. Thank you,.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2022

I am a loyal 35 year Honda car owner I own a 2006 Civic ex 1. 8 coupe I take every care and keep maint. Up to date and even have done a 100k service at it's now low 38,000 miles as of July 2022 I have the fear that this vehicle because of such low miles will go bad because of Honda faulty porrus engine blocks they know it was and is still a major problem. Problem with my car is not feeling safe to drive long distance in fear of engine block suddenly leaks and overheats engine. Honda refuses to recall all 2006-2008 Civics. So why own such a nice perfectly upkept Honda that my family' feels unsafe to drive across country, please make them recall all engines from 2006-2008 Civics come on we have been loyal and buying your products now do the right thing and recall a motor that if Honda hadnt cheaped out and mde blocks so thin they fail without any warning. Unsafe and profit shouldnt be the number one goal. How about fix the problem so we dont have to shell out $5k for a car with 38k.

*****both key transponders were responsive to the car today, ie green key light lit when both keys were inserted and turned to turn on the vehicle allowing the car radio and windows to be controlled, unlike other days where fraud occurred so that the car would not recognize both and only one or the other***** unidentified party, most likely remotely, stole control of my vehicle through manipulating non factory installed equipment that was installed after market and using factory installed equipment in a manner not openly discussed with the purchaser and owner. If it’s the police again or the manufacturer/ dealership or any court, has never disclosed or notified ownership or responsibility of such activities for now ten years. Spoke to manager again to inform that vehicle was again manipulated in retaliation to returning the gym when no open discussion occurred or report was received about not continuing a relationship between 24 hour fitness and myself as a member. Female onsite manager received reports that vehicle would not turn on again due to security alarm restriction, not mechanical failures, and that such activity was ongoing activity in furtherance of other abuses related to visiting that gym, such as vehicle and locker searches, which although not communicated to the manager, never resulted in further contact by the police or any authority regarding its occurrence.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

The car developed a crack in the engine block resulting in coolant leaks. This is unsafe and produces a toxic smell. The car is only at 119,000 miles and Honda will not cover it because it is 10 years past the warranty date. This warranty needs to be extended further. 119,000 miles is not a good quality Honda product.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2022

Honda Civic, 2006, engine block cracked and car overheated due to coolant loss without alerting driver to safety concerns, putting him/herself in jeopardy, along with other drivers/passengers. Overheating causes engines to stop operating which is extremely dangerous and costly. Driver ascertained that something wasn’t right at lower speeds (residence/business district). A faint whining was coming from the dashboard. This would likely not have been heard driving at faster speeds, and/or with the radio on. Once parked the operator smelled and saw smoke emanating from the vehicle hood and noticed leaking under the car. There was no prior warning sign. According to recent communication with Honda America by the operator, this engine block failure is a known issue and a result of a casting problem during manufacturing. A voluntary warranty extension was made in 2014 for 2006 - 2008 (extended to 2009) for Honda Civics for 10 years from the date of purchase. Unfortunately, many drivers, who were/are unaware of the warranty extension/issue, and for whom hadn’t detected/or had a problem prior are unknowingly driving ticking time bombs around. This warranty extension has since expired. Honda has not made an official recall and is not keeping drivers informed about the prevailing issue, which is unknowingly putting drivers at risk. Based on sales data for north America there were roughly 1. 2 million Honda Civics sold between 2006 and 2009, many of which are still on the road today. For a refurbished engine (not new), plus labor it is estimated to cost between $1,500 - $2,000 for repairs. This doesn’t take into account the cost of human or vehicle harm. Video evidence of leaking at mechanics/smoking vehicle can be provided. Court certified automotive expert: https://www. Youtube. . Read more...

I have the common issue the 2006 Civic. My engine block cracked. There was already a class action lawsuit on this matter but of course it only went 10 years. Honda was in the wrong here. 14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2021

Cracked engine block. This is a known manufacturers defect. This happened while the vehicle was not running. After sitting overnight there was a significant amount of fluid loss. A large puddle was observed under the car. Upon further investigation it was found to have a crack in the engine block. There was a extended warranty issued for this problem. Unfortunately my vehicle is 4 years past this warranty. I feel that this kind of issue should not have a cap on when the warranty should end. This was a very well maintenanced car with no other issues.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2019

We bought a 2006 Honda Civic in 2013, only to have the dealership not disclose the warranty extension put out on the car in 2010. We would have never bought that car, and bought another. Terribly dangerous the have an engine block crack. The block did crack in December 2019. American Honda will do nothing. Passed the warranty extension. . This should have been a safety recall. The car with only 129,000 is garbage and we are out money. We will never buy Honda again. We've bought at least 10 in our 27 year marriage. The cracking could have exploded the engine!.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2019

I own a Honda Civic that falls under Honda's TSB 10-048. (2006-2009 engine crack due to a faulty production of weak engine blocks) Honda will not honor any sort of remedy beyond their secret 10 warranty from date of production to replacing the engine block. The customer should not be responsible for a faulty product! Honda needs to own up to their faulty product and call the issue what it really is, a recall!!.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2019

Cracked engine block. This is a known issue with this car and Honda would replace it under warranty if it was leaking. Now out of warranty and engine block starts leaking. This was a known issue and should be a recall. All of these affected engines should be replaced now!!! or Honda should buy the car back. Now I'm without a car and still owe money. I cannot afford the $6,000 to replace this engine. I can afford 10%, but Honda will not even offer any discount to replace an inferior product that they knew had problems.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2019

I purchased my car from a Honda dealership back in 2014 and am the second owner. I was never told about the chance of the block cracking or that Honda will only warranty it till 10 years past original purchase because if I was told that I would have never got the car knowing that info. The car has only 160,000 miles and I get regular oil changes done at the Honda dealership.

Car has excessive vibrating when at idle, and when putting car in reverse, steering also vibrates more than necessary.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2019

Cracked engine block. Honda knowingly allowed customers warranty to expire despite knowing this is a lifetime issue. I was driving to work on a city street as it began to over heat then pulled over and realized the car was leaking.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2019

My 2006 Honda Civic has a cracked engine block. I was driving it home and noticed the heat rising. Got it towed home and then took it to a mechanic who then informed me about the issue I now have. Told that a can get a new motor. I called Honda to be told that they extended the factory recall for 10yrs. And with it being 2019 its been out of date for 3 yrs now. So its going to cost me money to fix something that they knew was causing issues for folks.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2019

While driving on the highway the engine sputtered then lost all power. It was towed to the shop where they told me the engine block was cracked. I bought the car used and the cost of repairs will exceed the vehicle's worth.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2019

My car started to overheat on the way home from work. Took it to a shop, they told that my engine block was cracked but it was a manufacturing defect from Honda. Took it to the Honda dealership and they said the 10 year warranty ext passed and they can't do anything about it. My car currently only has about 73,500 miles and now they want me to pay 2500-5000 for fix a problem that was from manufacturing defect. That should be a recall and a problem Honda needs to fix.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2019

The engine block crack is a know issue that Honda has recognized, but they only issued an extended warranty on. Vehicles still experience thins failure mine included, but have to pay out of pocket for a repair that the manufacturer is at fault for. I am submitting this complaint in the hopes that it will bring this to attention so a recall/or an additional extension can be put into to place to cover those still being affected by this fault.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2018

The engine block cracked (according to dealer) exactly like as described in service bulletin 10-048 which they extended the warranty for, but which a bunch of us owners are outside of now. So my car is garbage unless I spend 2-7k fixing a manufacturing defect that should have been recalled. I started overheating as I was driving home as and limped home trying to not let the engine get too hot (didn't work).

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2018

Engine block cracked due to manufacturer defect. This should have been fixed by Honda as a recall whether or not there was a leak yet. 10 year warranty only for a leak during that time doesn't make things right. And most people never got the information about this problem until it was too late. People buy Honda because they have confidence in the longevity of the main components, like the engine, of these vehicles. Why is it fair that others got a free engine replaced but ours lasted a little longer, maybe due to better care of the vehicle, and we get nothing for the same defect? make this right, Honda!.

31 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2018

I'm completely devistated. My 2006 Honda Civic started leaking antifreeze. We thought it would be an easy replacement for an old part or something, wrong. Our engine cracked because of bad crafstmanship. We are past the 10 year extended warranty by 2-3 years. This should still be covered! I planned on our kids driving this car and keeping it for a long long time! we can't afford $7000 new engine! this engine should have lasted a lot longer! I'm so upset that this is not covered still.

32 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

34 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2018

These cars have been known to get a cracked engine block and you never know when it's going to happen. Honda has had extended warranty due to make and model having a lot of these cars engine blocks cracking while driving, which this can cause a major car accident. Because you never know when these engine blocks are going to crack it can become a safety hazard and cause car accidents injure them or others. Honda should be replacing all the 2006 Honda Civic engines not just doing extended warranty. Because there are a lot of these Hondas who are having their engine blocks cracked right after the extended 10 year warranty is up. It is not right 2 not do anything for others who get a cracked engine block and lose their car when Honda specifically knows is make and model has major issues with the engine blocks cracking. There needs to be a recall on these engines no matter how many miles we have on these cars due to the engine blocks cracking and could be possibly causing a car accident on a freeway highway or a main street somewhere which can kill their self or other parties on the roads. If Honda knows is specifically is a defect in 2006 Honda Civic engines they are responsible to take care of this problem because it's there fault not the owner's fault. This is Hondas responsibility to fix their defects that they are aware of, when they know this is a defect. Yes this is a safety hazard , due to the engine blocks cracking at any possible time while driving our cars. No my car has not had a cracked engine block yet, but I do worry when and if mine does I can't go make Honda fix there defect.

35 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2018

The engine block on my 2006 Honda Civic cracked, and the car broke down today. I was driving home with my daughter from running errands and it just died. I had to have it towed to a shop. Just got the call saying the block is cracked, that it means a new engine, that there was a 10 year warranty, but that I'm outside the warranty. Honda knows certain years of Civics have a manufacturing defect, but those of us whose Civics made it longer before the defect killed the engine now basically have scrap metal. This vehicle has been immaculately maintained and I have all the service records.
