When my boyfriend took the car in for 30,000 mile service he mentioned that the power steering fluid was low. Honda claimed there was no leaks. At 46,980 miles they determined power steering rack had internal leak causing low fluid and damage to pump. Honda would not confess to the power steering being faulty and refused to pay for replacement of rack and pinion and pump.
Power steering fluid leaking into rack no visible signs of leak. Dealer has attempted to repair 3 times. Car is now back at dealer 11/16/07 for forth attempt to repair. We are afraid of loosing control of vehicle when power steering fails since steering becomes hard. Honda case number : 12007-11-1601-339.
I purchased a 2006 Honda Civic lx in the us and brought it to korea with me a few months ago. I, however, just found out that the power steering fluid has been leaking and was told that the power steering pump should be replaced soon cause it might leads to an accident if it's not fixed. I am pretty sure that this part must be defected in the beginning but the problem for me is that the Honda would not fix it with free of charge because I purchased it in the us and it's in korea now. I don't think it's fare for consumers (cause it should have been still under the factory warranty). Is there any way I can get it fixed with free of charge??.
I purchased a 2006 Civic ex in December of 2005. Within 3 months, the right driver side a/c vent started to rattle as well as around both driver side and passenger seat belt adjusters. I took the vehicle to the dealership who replaced the vent but could not located the noise by the seat belt adjusters. At this time, they also found that the power steering fluid had been leaking and repaired this was well. At my next schedule oil change, I complained about the a/c vent rattling more than before the and the rattling around the seat belt height adjusters had increased. They installed a new a/c vent for the second time. They also were able to determine after taking off the panel where the seat belt adjusters are located, that it was poorly insulated and added felt tape. The new a/c vent is more sturdy than the original and first replacement so it no longer rattles. The felt tape insulation has also stopped the seat belt adjuster from rattling. However in the last few weeks I have additional rattling which I have located to inside of ceiling directly behind the moon roof.
