Wiper problems of the 2006 Honda Civic

There was a recall on the 2006 Honda Civic ex sun visors which Honda replaced only to have it break again. I think Honda should be responsible to replace and to ensure it stays intact. It is very dangerous and difficult to drive with the direct sun in your eyes. Please respond. Hydemss@gmail. Com.

Visor unclipped near the hinge and doesn't stay up. The visor slowly drops down obscures my vision. The car was stationary, I was parked and getting ready to pull away from the curb.

I was driving on the NJ parkway coming home from work and there was a loud crack noise, at first I thought I got hit on my windshield by a rock, then about 5 seconds later my passenger side sun visor lowered and it is broken on the inside of the plastic. Now it will not stay up and causes a distraction to me while I'm driving. I contacted Honda and they said that they will not assist in any way in replacing a visor that they know is bad.

L/h sun visor assy of our 2006 Honda Civic experienced a catastrophic mechanical failure. Mode of failure was splitting of a bonded joint of the upper and lower plastic pieces that surround & capture l/h (primary) rotation mechanism. Internal mechanism imparts significant internal stress on the bonded joint each time sun visor re-positioned. Undamaged seam gives rotational resistance when visor is stowed or fully forward (somewhat out of the driver¿s field of view). This fatigue-induced failure mode presents a significant safety issue. The visor assembly fails in the worse possible position: hanging vertically directly in front of the driver obscuring sight through the upper section of the windscreen. The defective sun visor is a constant distraction to the driver. It cannot be rotated around the principal axis into another position without immediately falling directly back into the driver's line of sight. Takata recall complaint sun visors fell apart causing harm, injury.

Sun visor glue melts in the heat and the sun visor stops functioning and creates a visibility problem. Also, pieces of plastic can flake off and fall on the driver, potentially getting in the driver's eye while driving. I have had so many issues with my Civic, not limited to a scattered transmission (~110k), a led brake light going out (~90k), and now it looks like the 10-048 cracked engine block (just recently).

Both driver and passenger side sun visors are failing to function as intended. The driver side was unable return to the stowed position blocking visibility forcing the driver to duck below in order the maintain visibility of the road when approaching steep grades.

The technician diagnosed that the crack was caused by the rear defroster. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no remedy was offered. I reported to Honda dealer that the windshield wipers are not parking properly. Open road Honda charged $62 for a "diagnosis fee" and reported that a new motor was needed that will cost $374. 41. A search on the internet shows hundreds of complaints on this issue. It would seem that Honda is aware of this safety issue and should be correcting the problem at no cost to the consumer.

2/21/2014 to whom it may concern, a very real safety concern! I was just going to pay to have this fixed and then looked on the internet and found that many people have had and does have this. It has been going on since 2004 - 2011 even on Lexus's according to the internet. The wiper will stop on the windshield and we never know when it is going to stop completely, it will stop and go and sometimes when it is suppose to stop it will not and when it is suppose to go it will stop and when it is raining and we are expecting it to wipe the window it will not and when cars are coming at us at night and when the window is not wiped, the headlight of the other car will glare on the rain drops on the unwiped window and make it so we are unable to see through that glare because we were expecting the wiper to do the job when it was suppose to. Please will someone do something for the public when we trust a reputable company like Honda to fix there problem and they want us to pay for the job when it is a safety concern of our and everyone else. I had talked to Honda and they very well knew the wiper motor was a problem for these years and they told me that they replace the cover plate or the entire motor. He told me that it would only cost about 250 dollars, I don't feel that I should have to pay that kind of money my wife and I are retired and on a fixed income and I feel that it would only be unfair for us to have to pay this. While driving at a low speed and using my wipers for snow, all if a sudden my wiper speed controls got messed up. I have no speed 1. Just speed 2 and 3. And the wipers also wont park properly and mostly simply not turn off after a few cycles.

When it is near freezing or below outside, my windshield wiper blades behave erratically. The intermittent setting stops working and the windshield wipers keep going. The slow speed and high speed work. However, when I turn the windshield wipers off, they take awhile to stop and stop in random locations on the windshield. The last time this happened was on 4/17/2014 and I recorded a video while sitting in my driveway. I believe this is a safety issue since the windshield wiper blades can stop in the middle of the windshield and obstruct my vision. We asked the dealer to fix it and they want to get paid to replace the windshield wiper motor. I believe this is a safety issue and a recall should be issued.

Sun visors on both driver and passenger side broke, making it difficult to raise and lower. I can see this being dangerous while driving. The Honda dealership says an extended warranty was issued a while back, but it now falls out of that extended warranty and they cannot replace it. Since this is an earlier design issue, all cases of failed visors should be accommodated and not dependent on VIN.

The sun visor on my 2006 Honda Civic si trim fell off while parked. It has nearly fallen off while driving. It is totally nonadjustable while driving because it will fall off. Honda did not inform me about a class action settlement involving an extension of warrant to 100k/7 years. My mileage is now outside of their extended warranty period. This is a continuing issue with all Honda Civics in this generation and Honda has refused to redesign the part to prevent future failures.

The wipers will not work properly. A few days ago on intermittent, they went 5 times, stopped/paused, then 3 times and then a few more times, then stopped again. Later on that day, they would not turn off at all unless I turned the ignition off. Today on the way to work, on a highway in the rain, my wipers stopped altogether which was scary as immediately I couldn't see anything for a few seconds. I moved the wiper arm around and they started again. When I got to work, they wouldn't stop and again, I had to turn the engine off to make them stop. I have never had this happen before in any car I have owned.

My windshield wipers on my Honda Civic ex 2006 vehicle are not working properly. The main problem is that they won't turn off most of the time and when they do, they park anywhere on the windshield, which is often in my field of vision. It is very distracting when driving in traffic not knowing when the wipers will decide to stop and where on the windshield they will stop. Apparently, this is a problem common to my make and model car and it is difficult to identify the specific cause. I strongly feel that there is a defect in the car causing this and that a recall should be made to rectify the problem.

Drivers visor is not snapping back into place. Got in the vehicle and was just hanging down. When trying to snap into place, two hands are needed but doesn't go back appropriately.

The sunvisor has broke once on passenger side-had replaced. Now broken again and drivers side as well. Safety concern as visor now hangs lose and is in the way while driving or can not be used for intended purposes of blocking sun.

Honda recall. There was a safety recall on my 2006 Honda Civic 1hgfa16546l051803, for the visors falling due to failure of internal springs that hold them in place, causing obstruction of vision as well as a distraction while driving. I went to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, curttright Honda in enid ok. I was told the recall had expired and there was nothing they could do. For reasons unknown I was not aware of the recall, had I known I certainly would have taken corrective action in a timely manner. I was late responding to the recall notice but why does an important safety recall have an expiration date, especially since it has the potential to cause an accident or even death under the right circumstances? the recall was extended 7 years but that extension has passed as well. There was a class action law suit filed but I was not a part of it. Driver's side visor broke and fell off in August 2011 on my 2006 Honda Civic. Prior to August 2011, when moving it back into the nonuse position it would stick and hang in the way causing visibility problems. Then eventually broke all the way and just fell off. This was not due to misuse or overuse!!!! this is a faulty product!!! I am appalled that there has not been a corrective product designed and replaced through a recall scenario!!!! it is obvious there is a defect in this part!!!! if you will search the internet and even this site, you will see the number of complaints warrants a recall! this is a safety hazard as you cannot see when the sun is at a certain level in the sky without the visor, and you cannot see with a faulty visor that hangs in your field of vision when in a "broken but hasn't fallen off yet" scenario. Honda - you can do better than this!!!!!! please rectify this problem for the safety of me and my daughter!!!! I have owned several cars in my life and have never, never, never had a problem with a sunvisor.

My car has a large problem with its windshield wipers, when I crank the car they come on and sometimes don't turn off, and most of the time when they do turn off they will stop in the middle of the window, causing me to loose all site of the road and being distracted trying to get them to go down, and wearing out my wiper blades with the very numerous times I have to turn them on before they will stop in the correct rest position. This problem has cause me to go off the road and almost get in many accidents with the lack of vision, and inability to concentrate on the road.

Driver and passenger sun visors come apart at the hard-plastic seams and fail to retract back into the headliner once they are engaged, leaving them blocking driver's view at all times. They cannot be adjusted to any gradual positioning. They simply hang straight down. Honda admitted the problem and has said they only warranted replacement for 7 years. When car was in warranty, dealer promised Honda would replace as long as the car had the original owner. This is a simple engineering fix that Honda will not address. It is now a safety issue as I cannot get replacements (visors last, on average 15-18 months and must be replaced constantly) and the visors now hang, obstructing my outward view to the side and through the windshield.

The paint is peeling off really bad & making big white spots all over entire car & it's a blue car. Also the drivers side visor came completely off!.

2006 Honda Civic have a broken driver's seat. Consumer states that she is having a problem with parts for the driver's seat repair and the dealership. The consumer stated the seat adjuster bar fell off. Also, when it was hot outside, the sun visor split which caused it not to stay up. Once the weather cooled down, the consumer was able to push it back into place. The windshield wipers were constantly falling apart. The dealer had to replace them twice.
