My Honda Civic hybrid is not safe please help . My 07 Honda Civic hybrid has a problem with the ima battery most times it indicates no charge very very very dangerous . One example I came to a turn signal to turn left there were aprrox 3 cars ahead of me the signal light turned green the cars ahead of me went my turn I accelerated no power my car creeped thru the intersection as I started my turn the signal light was yellow then turned red for me and green for the oncoming traffic I thought I was going to get hit on my passenger side . This was not the first time it happened but one of the most dangerous ones. Please help!.
My 2007 Civic hybrid is experiencing a problem with the ima. As I am driving, the battery charge will be reduced to zero or one bars. I drive with the flow of traffic and normally do not exceed 55 mph. This normally occurs within the first 15 minutes of driving my car. It is most noticeable when starting from a dead stop. The car accelerates extremely sluggishly and the rpm's reach around 4500 to approach the speed limit (50 mph). Gas mileage when this occurs drops to about 20-25 mph. I have taken this car into the dealership for repairs on 4 separate occasions to get this repaired. The dealership has been unable to reproduce the problem and has made minimal attempts to try and repair the car. The only repair attempt made was to reset the computer in the car. This has accomplished nothing and the problem is still ongoing. This could become a much more serious problem when trying to make a left turn or when trying to merge.
Under humid conditions, the main battery of this hybrid suddenly drains, leaving the car without the electric motor. In this vehicle, this means that there is very limited torque (normally supplied by the electric motor). This first occurred in the summer of 2007 and has continued with increasing frequency to the present time. This brought to the attention of the selling dealership (southern motors of savannah) in August of 2007 and at the end of September of the same year. They claimed they could find nothing wrong despite being shown photographic evidence of the failure. The car was returned to the dealership on August 8, 2008 with further proof of the problem. The have claimed that they contacted american Honda and were told that Honda was aware of the problem but had found no solution. The car was returned to me on August 27, 2007 with the condition unresolved.
