1 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2007

I own a standard transmission 2007 Civic si. I was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, I put the transmission into 1st gear and started moving. I then tried to shift from 1st gear into 2nd at approximately 3500 rpm. I had the clutch pedal fully depressed but could not put the transmission into 2nd gear. I put the transmission back into neutral and tried again to shift into 2nd gear. Second gear finally engaged but was accompanied with a loud grinding noise. This situation was dangerous because I was in the middle of the intersection with no power. I was focused on trying to figure what was wrong with the car and could not focus on the road. Nothing has been done yet to remedy this situation. I am taking my car to my dealership to see what is wrong.
