2 Transmission Not Engage problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2008

I own a 2007 Honda Civic si (manual transmission) and 1 out of every 5 times I shift into 3rd gear it grinds and does not engage properly. In 4000 miles it has also fallen out of gear twice under normal driving conditions. When this happens the car will suddenly slow and I will be distracted while driving as it is quite unexpected on a car with 10,000 miles. I have brought the car to Honda and they said this was due to excessive clutch wear caused by "driving the car too hard". I drive about 50 miles a week in DC metro area traffic so this is hardly the case. Most owners of the same car and transmission are reporting the same problem and Honda has not done anything to remedy it. . Read more...

3 Transmission Not Engage problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2008

I have a 2007 Civic si with only 12,000 miles on it. Issue: 3rd gear hard to engage. It is an intermittent safety problem. When 3rd gear does not engage I have to go to 2nd or 4th gear, that causes vehicle to slow down during merging. Complaint to dealership twice. First time transmission oil replaced but did not fix this issue. 2nd time dealership told me that they cannot duplicate the issue. Honda needs to recall all these faulty manual transmissions before someone dies.

4 Transmission Not Engage problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2007

Third gear intermittently does not engage or is very difficult to engage. Is especially bad when it is cold out.

5 Transmission Not Engage problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2007

2007 Honda Civic hybrid cvt with less than 100 miles on it---transmission would not engage despite high revving during interstate rush hour traffic and caused serious traffic hazard as had to coast off road amid traffic.

6 Transmission Not Engage problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2007

07 Honda Civic si sedan--3rd gear shifts uneasy. Sometimes there is resistance when shifting to 3rd gear and sometimes it does not engage at all.

7 Transmission Not Engage problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2006

Purchased 2007 Civic si sedan new in November 2006. Shortly afterwards, began noticing difficulty when shifting into 3rd gear. Gear would not engage and would sometimes "pop" out. Usually this occurs when engine is cold, but has also occurred after driving for awhile. Notified service technician one month after purchase. Was told that I must be shifting incorrectly and that they could not duplicate the problem. Problem continued and I advised them again in Feb. 2008 that 3rd gear was still having resistance/grinding/popping issues. I found that a TSB was issued for the problem in July 2008. I have been back to the dealer numerous times and was never informed of the TSB.
