Cracked engine block, random overheating, major coolant loss, emergency pullover.
The engine blocks has a cracked, the antifreeze is leaking.
I was driving and my car suddenly stopped in the middle of a very busy road, the vehicle started smoking while I was inside, it was so scary. I'm lucky that I'm alive. The vehicle was diagnosed by Honda with a cracked engine. Honda was fully aware of the engine block leak issue back in 2013. Instead of offering a total recall to fix the issue for all the running Civics, they simply offered a 10 year warranty, in case the problem surfaces. This is a safety issue and authorities should investigate how Honda is handling these complaints. They refused to take responsibility and stand by their customers.
When driving on a city street car lost power and won't go at more than 20 ml/hr and was overheating ,have it checked and found a crack on engine block,.
Takata recall hi I am having several issues with the ignition not wanting to turn for several moments after putting the key inside to start my 2007 Honda xivic lx sedan and then all of a sudden the lights and power to the doors and windows work but car won't roll over to start. The car has been flashing a wrench like bar along with what looks like shape of the motor for 2 months as well ad I've just had an oil change done 4 days ago but yet it still reads oil life 5% b1 on the dash which won't clear nothing was wrong with spark plus or anything else under hood from valvoline's stand point when checked other than wipers don't never want to shut off as well. Thank you and regards lucy clutier phone number (989)907-9313.
Has cracked engine block. This is a known problem by Honda for '06,'07',08 and some '9 Civic due to a manufacture defect on the block. Honda upgraded the warranty to 10 years from date of purchase. The crack occurs between 95k-110k miles. I have 101k on my car. I am out of warranty period therefore Honda has denied fixing my vehicle. Honda should have recalled instead of warranty period since it is a known problem and there are many of us who do not drive our car as much. I also purchased the extra warranty for piece of mind at the time of the purchase and Honda still will not budge.
My 07 Civic develop a long crack in the engine block. The Honda rep says it my problem because the recall campaign is over. Which I don't think is fair. Honda knew of the defect and not all Honda's develop this problem it's just us unlucky few that got the bad one's.
Cracked engine block, front passenger 1/2 way down, at even with sound service history, mostly by dealer.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the vehicle was driven. To a destination and parked . The contact noticed a trail of liquid emerging from the engine compartment, after few minutes there was a puddle under the engine. The vehicle was driven to an unknown independent mechanic, they determined the the block was cracked and needed an engine replacement. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000. Bp,.
2007 Honda Civic coupe- cracked engine block I found out I had a leak so I had my car towed to the dealership to find out where the leak was coming from. Upon their findings, they told me it was my engine block. Which at that time they explained to me that there was a warranty for cracked engine blocks in which, Honda had extended it to 10 years. That would have been great had I been the original owner of the vehicle to have it replaced. Sadly I'm the second owner and was unaware of this issue with these vehicles, along with being out of warranty by 3 years. I just bought this vehicle from a dealer less than 6 months ago, for $6,000 which I also paid Honda $1416 to have the necessary updates done on it, because it only had 102,000 miles being a 2007. Which should say that I'm very responsible in taking care of needs. Well, its now at 104,000 miles and the engine block is cracked in which my vehicle has been at the dealership for going on now a week, waiting on someone to get back with me to tell me if they can help me with this problem that was clearly not my fault but, a manufactured fault. I've seen a lot of complaints on this issue and can only pray that I'm not just another complaint that gets looked over. I was quoted by the dealership the cost would be $4800 in which on a fixed income can not afford to pay that amount. As of this date my car is still at the Honda dealership as I am without even a loaner car until they work out the details of this. You'd think being one of the top car companies this would not be so daunting and drawn out. Why put a expiration on something that can cause an accident or yet someone's life and when it's brought to attention the customer is left with the worst case scenario? lord help us all, because there are so many of these I've saw out there and it don't seem as if anything is helping with complaint after complaint.
Driving to work on expressway when engine began bucking and losing power. Fortunately, I was able to safely get off road and get to a service center where they diagnosed a lateral crack in the block. The car has 84,100 miles on odometer and is in otherwise excellent condition. The replacement of the engine costs $7,600 and I have paid for it. Looking for guidance on some recovery from Honda. Thank you.
Engine has a crack block. Was told there was a recall was never informed.
My husband was driving home from work with the Honda Civic 07 when it started to overheat. Luckily he was close to the house and we immediately called over our own mechanic to inspect. He stated the engine block is cracked and its leaking. He advised us to go to dealership because there is something about a warranty extension for this. Next morning we brought it to dealership open road Honda edison NJ and said they will do a diagnostic on it to determine if is a cracked engine block. And it was. Warranty extension 10-048 states Honda is only going to pay the repair if it is within 10 years form original purchase. We are out of warranty as it was originally purchased 4/2017. Almost 3 years out of warranty. I told them this car is serviced at Honda dealership and I did not receive any notification from Honda about this 10 year extension warranty. They wanted me to pay 5k for repair. This is a manufacture defect and no amount of maintenance is going to avoid this. I called american Honda and gave me a case #. Initially they said 10% that went to 15% and finally 20% is the only percentage they are willing to pay for. It leaves me with $3900 to pay. This is unacceptable. Honda is protecting itself from paying when they should be at least extended the warranty with specifics for owners who are out of warranty and unfortunately their engine block broke. I.
Cracked engine car has less than 85,000 miles on it. Honda is a joke they want me to pay for another tow and then pay for a certified Honda mechanic to look at it. They are well aware of this problem and could give two shits!.
2007 Honda Civic crack in the engine less than 85,000 miles on it and tina in corporate wants to act like its no big deal to pay for a tow and pay for a diagnosis. By the way tina said she works in corporate and knows everything but could not tell me if Honda would help me out in this situation.
Cracked and leaking engine block with only 72k miles on vehicle. We had the family in the vehicle when it started to smoking heavily, without warning, causing extreme visibility problems as well as a horrible smell. This also caused other vehicles around us to react. We were in heavy traffic at the time. Took it to our local dealership the very next morning, and by late afternoon, were told it has a cracked and leaking engine block. There has been a very clear and noted problem with this vehicle's engine block and, had this happened a few months ago, they would have replaced it at no charge to us as loyal customers. We are without a safe vehicle, while Honda has had many many complaints from owners of Civics from these years. Ours only has 72,000 miles, is maintained properly and always at a Honda dealership. It is a commuter only vehicle, for the most part. Please help us, as well as all these other owners I have researched, who are also suffering the consequences of Honda not doing the proper thing with their engine block issues! we all look to you for support and to make sure manufacturers are held to the standard in which you set for them. They want to charge us thousands of dollars to repair a vehicle that has a known problem documented. Nothing like having a veteran's car smoke out in traffic on actual veteran's day. Thank you so much for your time, energy and effort.
There is a crack in the engine block. Has only 70,000 miles.
Engine block crack diagnosed following Honda's 10 year warranty that we were never alerted about by Honda or at any service performed by Honda in the past 10 years. Engine went up in smoke and broke down without any lights or sensors driving down the highway. Thankfully able to get off the road safely.
Vehicle would not start. Car engine cracked which is a safety issue and known issue to Honda for this model and year of the Civic. I had my three kids, including an infant in the car. Took it to Honda where they explained that there was an extended warranty that we had just missed. My car is in impeccable shape with low mileage (80,000). Honda refused to cover the engine crack in full (expecting us to play 3,000), stating that we were not loyal Honda customers as our other car was a Toyota. The car had recently been serviced by Honda and the airbag recall was fixed. At that point, they should have communicated to us regarding the engine and the changes to warranty based on the known issue.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. The contact stated while getting an inspection, the vehicle failed due to bad engine mounts. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosis the vehicle as a failed engine mounts. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,000. VIN not available. Hk.
I noticed coolant on the garage floor. The coolant level seemed low. I topped it up. Next day the car engine oil indicator became high and there was some smoke. I took it to the local Honda dealership and they pressure tested the system. They found a crack in the engine block. This is a known problem in the 2006-2009 Honda Civics. Honda has apparently an extended warranty on this engine by 10 years from date of purchase but have not made it punlic nor have I received notice. I have only 160k miles on this car but yet am out of luck as it's past that 10 year time limit. This is highly unethical of Honda as they did not send out any recall notice. The engine is supposed to last the life of the car. Please investigate and force them to issue a recall.
I am doing this regarding the cracked engine block issue. I have emailed Honda and they will not cover it. How can a manufacturer know they have sold a defective product and not be liable? I am a low income individual and cannot afford to fix my car, it is very upsetting.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. Upon an oil change at an independent mechanc the contact was made aware of a crack in the engine block and the vehicle could no longer be safely operated on the road. The failure occurred without warning. West county Honda located 15532 manchester rd, ellisville, mo was notified of the issue however no further assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000. Kh.
My engine block cracked and now the Honda bulletin is saying I'm out of the TSB warranty!!!! I've been quoted well over $5,000 for a new engine and labor!!! please list this as a recall!!!! it is unfair for me the consumer and many others who missed the warranty!! my engine block just cracked today and today I just found out about the 10yr extension from the original purchase date!! Honda failed to reach their customers for the possible defective car and now we are stuck to suffer!.
My engine block is cracked. I know that several year models of the Honda Civic have been recalled due to this defect; the 2007 yr model as is mine included. My VIN # was not included in this recall but it has the same defect as the others that were recalled. I would like for mine to be replaced. The pictures included show where the water/antifreeze mixture has leaked out and dried on. The vehicle has not been driven in several months because of this. I bought this car in approximately late 2015.
Engine block suddenly developed cracking, loses coolant and overheats. Honda admits to faulty engine block by extending warranty to 10 years. However Honda will not allow proactive use of warranty. Problem must surface first to be covered. Most problems surface after 10 years, which relieves Honda of most of the claims liability. My problem developed 7 months out of extended warranty at 76,000 miles. Engine blocks should last until car is crushed. Safety issue: sudden onset of overheating and breakdown. Engine is a defective product. Honda should be compelled to recall engines and replace to fix the known defect.
Known issue of cracked engine block happening around 90k-110k miles. Mine just his 95k and the engine block cracked. Honda only offered to fix it at full retail price minimum of $4,000. The car worked great and then stopped working while I was on the highway.
I was in a highway and my engine heated. I let it cool down and found out that the coolant/ antifreeze had been depleted completely. I replenished it. Later diagnosis resulted in identification of crack from the engine block. My 2007 Civic had gone out of warranty for their extended 10 years. It has low mileage of 94000 miles. These specific problems seem to occur in Hondas at around 90k to 110k. So for people like us who have low mileage, we are not helped by the extended warranty and have to pay out of pocket which I cannot afford. I feel like I have been cheated. The recall number is a10-048.
I have 2007 Honda Civic. I have got engine block leak problem. Which is costing me more than car value. This is manufacturing defect. Should be covered by Honda.
My 2007 Honda Civic coupe overheated on interstate in FL and stopped operating. Vehicle would not start up again and required to be towed. It was determined that the engine block was cracked and leaking fluids. Honda knew about this problem and extended the warranty to 10 years. My car was purchased in oct of 2006 and incident occurred in sept of 2017. My vehicle is in excellent condition but Honda has only offered to pay $3000 of the $6100 repair. I find that that is not good enough and they should be responsible for this defect and should have recalled this model and not wait for the engine to crack. They knew of this defect and played the odds that not all of the cars would breakdown. I never even recieved the notification of the extended warranty. I found out about it after breakdown and researching it on internet. A full recall should have been implemented if they knew there was a faulty engine block.
We have a 2007 Honda Civic with 62200 miles and noticed it started running hot and rough idle. Took it in to a repair shop we have used for years( that also does manufactures authorized maintenance) for the problem, and it was diagnosed with a cracked engine block. We are two months to the day out of the extended warranty for this known problem. We have never received any notice from Honda about this problem. This was my wife's main vehicle, and thankfully this was not a catastrophic failure that left her stranded. This is not a small component failure. This leaves the car undrivable and practically worthless for trade-in or resale.
Engine block cracked due to manufacturing defect, overheated at 60 mph on interstate 270.
Cracked block 6 months after warranty period ended and they wont help me at all,.
Crack in engine blocks cause suden severe loss of coolant and overheating leaving motorist stranded on roadway.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the engine cylinder block cracked and started overheating. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 139,900.
