1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2023

Transmission issue started from no where, I keep my car maintained all the time, making sure of oil, other maintenance. Even exterior cleaning. After checking with many places and online they mentioned it’s the 3rd clutch for the transmission. I have the same issue after driving 600 miles. Still trying to find out why this happened.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2020

Both sun visors (driver and passenger) fail to stay in their position, resulting in them rotating down, creating a safety hazard; obstructing visibility thru front windshield. Additionally because the visors don't stay in their position, they hang down creating an immediate safety hazard to any unsuspecting occupant getting into or out of the vehicle because you strike your head on the mispositioned visors. The driver side visor on our vehicle has been replaced twice (10-21-2010, mileage 21188 and 7-3-2012, mileage 27839 under TSB). It is well over due needing to be replaced a third time. It appears only after a class action lawsuit cooper v. American Honda motor CO. , inc. , did Honda issue TSB 11-031 to replace driver side (ds) visors. The root cause of the failure and the consequence, obstructed visibility and immediate striking hazards have not been addressed and continues to occur. I have contacted, 8-1-2022, Honda's customer service and reported this reoccurring issue to them and they said they have no obligation to address the visor issue due to the age and mileage limitations established in their service bulletin. Our vehicle has only 97591 miles on it. Well below the mileage limit. What gives them the right to establish the duration of liability for their defective product? safety should be their number one concern. Please give me some guidance as to how to proceed to address this immediate safety issue with my vehicle. This inherent problem revealed itself 4 years after purchase. Honda has not corrected the problem. Please send me a response you received this submission. Thank you. Ps how do I attach a video of visors rotating unassisted?.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2020

Originally this happened 2 years ago. . The bracket where my serpentine pivot arm and my alternator mounts to my engine block. Well those bolts broke the holes they screw into on my engine block. Jb weird this together temporarily till finding a better fix. My engine block is the cast aluminum so u can't well anything on there to hold the screws in. The other day I am driving my car and the bolts just came out while driving causing my belt to slip off and I couldn't turn my steering wheel.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2019

The passenger visor will not go back up and hangs down which could have an effect if the passenger airbag deploys, the visor might snap if it is forced back up and visibility could be a problem if the sun comes in that way. I have major concerns for deployment of the passenger airbag. The visor is stationary and in motion on the highway and on city streets as well as turning on all roads.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

Takata recall hi I am having several issues with the ignition not wanting to turn for several moments after putting the key inside to start my 2007 Honda xivic lx sedan and then all of a sudden the lights and power to the doors and windows work but car won't roll over to start. The car has been flashing a wrench like bar along with what looks like shape of the motor for 2 months as well ad I've just had an oil change done 4 days ago but yet it still reads oil life 5% b1 on the dash which won't clear nothing was wrong with spark plus or anything else under hood from valvoline's stand point when checked other than wipers don't never want to shut off as well. Thank you and regards lucy clutier phone number (989)907-9313.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2018

The visors on both the passenger and driver side split in half and were hanging down. This caused the visors to block my field of vision and made driving more hazardous. There were no warnings prior to failure; however, I found online that this is a known problem (https://considertheconsumer. Com/class-action-settlements/Honda-civic-visor-recall-settlement). Honda did not contact me concerning the recall and I did not find out about it until I googled the information.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2018

Driver window won't go up or down and there is a very strong plastic type smell. The smell was so strong that we immediately became dizzy even with the passenger window down & sunroof wide open. We drove less than a mile. It has been over an hour and we are still feeling nauseous, dizzy and weak in the knees. I am afraid to drive it again because I believe we would have passed out if driven further. No check lights came on, no previous indication of a problem.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

Defective engine and transmission mounts. A design issue that has many owners repairing (cost of $800) mounts at 65-85,000 miles. Car vibrates after the car is cold especially when in reverse. After engine warms up, the vibrations dissappear except when the gas is released and engine breaking occurs. If clutch is dissengagued the vibrations decrease. This issue is as common as the visor problem from a couple years back and is a known design flaw from the factory. Issue occurs over vehicle life after 65,000 miles.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

Driver side visor broken. Dangles and dangerously blocks driver's vision. It was part of recall in 2012. Had it repaired by Honda 2/7/2012 as instructed. It has failed again. . . Same exact problem. Notified Honda but was advised out of warranty. My opinion is warranty should not expire on a known defective part. They simply installed another visor of the same design knowing that it too would fail.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2016

Paint falure.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2016

I've had/having several problems with my 2007 Honda Civic that I bought brand new. My back tires have worn very unevenly over the years and because of this car eating tires I've replaced tires almost every 2 years. There is also a popping sound when driving when you make a tight turn. I've also had many problems with my a/c. I've had the blower fan stop working and some component relating to it replaced 3 times. My a/c recently stopped blowing cold air after it spit out frozen freon through my vents. Mechanic has told me my freon was empty and compressor locked up. Now I need to throw money ($1400) at this repair as well!.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

On my 2007 Civic ex, the driver side visor popped open at the parting line near the hinge and the plastic ribs inside broke. It does not want to snap back into place in any direction (front, back, or side). It hangs so low that it is blocking the view of the road (front windshield and driver side window) at all times. I am very disappointed with Honda that it is not listed as a safety concern. . . Because it is.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2015

The sun visor on the driver's side broke in July 2015 along the joint where the rod runs through it. Had gone to a friend's house, and when I went back out to my car, the sun visor was broken. Nothing else had happened to the car; just the broken sun visor. Sun visor now constantly hangs down vertically, obstructing view. Only temporary solution is pushing the visor to the side, but that obstructs the view of traffic on the side of the vehicle. Problem occurred about one year outside Honda's extended warranty for the visor. Not sure what to do.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2015

I hit a pothole and the airbag was deployed.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2015

The doors do not stay open like every car usually does when they are opened. This causes a problem when loading and unloading car seats, people, groceries, etc. When the doors are opened, they automatically close back up. I'm concerned because the door, (when it closes by it's self,) hits a lot people in the back that expecting the door to stay open when they enter the car. There is also risk of it slamming a persons finger. I get many complaints from my passengers.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2014

The paint on the roof of my car is hazing and the clear coat is peeling. The hood of my car also has white spots. Honda garage in moon twp. , PA will only pay half of the cost to paint the roof of my car. They said there was a "goodwill recall" that ended in sept 2014, but I never received this.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2014

Sunvisors: the sun visors on this car fell apart without any damage to them. Either the visor completely fell out or the visor will not stay up causing an obstruction/distraction while driving. There has been a recall on the 2008 models; however, there are problems with this year as well.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2014

I was told by a friend that she got her Civic painted because of a recall. I bought my car at the Honda dealer in killeen texas, but I called my local greg may Honday in waco TX service department. I told them I never received any notice stating there was a recall, and someone had told me about it. I was having the exact color issues with pealing, cloudy color on my roof, and a few other panels on my car. They told me that there was a recall but its past due now, and I basically will have to pay out of pocket for this. I am having my car roof painted this weekend, and will have to do the rest as I can afford it. What I don't understand is, why should I have to pay for a recall that Honda said was happening if you never sent a notification to me. ??? I haven't been online here since I paid my car off, I didn't realize it would have recalls etc on here. I will keep watch now that I know. I love my Hondas this is my second Civic I also had an accord. Can you do anything for me? I have photo's of my car with the damage if you need proof. Thank you for your time and consideration regarding the above matter.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2014

Tires have worn unevenly due to rear balance arm/ strut assembly issue which have caused the wheel assembly to canter and be toed in, which in turn has also damaged the suspension/springs. Car now leans to driver side in the rear. Car has had 4 sets of tires and has less than 90,000 miles. Due to uneven tire wear the car is extremely loud (ear damaging loud) and vibrates (shimmies) at speeds above 40mph. We were told by a Honda dealership that only an after market adjustable balance arm will correct the problem. American Honda refuses to take any accountability.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2014

The driver's side sun visor dropped down, blocking me vision (I'm 6'1). It seems to be broken, for no apparent reason and won't go back inplace.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

Air bag and side air bag symbol warning was coming on and off for atleast a year & now stays on all the time.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2013

Driver's window moves up and down. I put window up, and it comes down by itself. Minor issue is clearcoat paint peeling off of bumper.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2013

Excessive noise from rear end of vehicle unrelated to normal higher noise from all season tires. The noise is so bad that passengers cannot converse in the car with the windows closed. Excessive unusual wear on tires requiring frequent replacement. Honda put out a service bulletin 08-001 Feb 5, 2009 about this problem but has not issued a recall. I think that Honda should do a recall or offer to pay something toward the corrective action they mention in their service bulletin. A rear upper control arm kit, new tires, alignment and labor charges are needed to be done and parts will need to be shipped to me from the us so I can have the repairs done where I am stationed here in germany. I'm frightened to take the care out on the autobahn. Thanks.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

I keep changing brakes and rotors. I have done this 2-3 times so far. The steering keeps shaking violently when you apply brakes. If you don't change the rotors, this problem will get worse, so I am forced to keep changing the rotors every other year. Over the years, I have had many Honda cars. I don't believe this is a normal wear and tear condition. I believe there's a fundamental safety problem with the brakes or the rotors. Not sure what is wrong, but I believe there's a safety issue with Honda Civic 2007rotors and brake system that someone needs to look into it. Please look into this.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

I have Honda Civic si 2007. I have been experiencing a problem with 3rd gear. It pops out and sometimes it’s hard to get it in the 3dr gear. The problem happened more frequently when the weather is cool and it’s intermediate. It could happen 2 times a day or 2 times a week depending on the weather/driving time and conditions. I took my car to the Honda dealership in mahwah, NJ (as I been told car has been taking for the test drive 7 times and total 22 miles on it)and nanuet, NY(2 times total 10 miles) and I also called Honda of America to file a complaint about it 3 times(case # n012013-06-1801969). As a result dealerships couldn’t replicate the problem and Honda of America only can advise me to go to the different dealership. I have extended warranty on this car it will expire in August 2013 and as I was told at Honda of America it becomes my problem after warranty will expire. This is the worst costumer care service owning a car I have ever experienced, and it’s Honda.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2012

Driver side visor started to getting stuck and loose before completely falling off the hinge.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Shortly before the vehicle went out of the manufacturers warranty I began to notice issues with the paint job. The paint began to develop large areas on the roof, hood, fenders, and several other areas of the car that were extremely faded with the clear coat totally wearing through. I brought this to the attention of the dearlership I bought the car from and they told me to call back in about two weeks when a regional rep. Would be at the dealership for him to examine. I called back and was asked if I could bring the car down that day, luckily I work only a few miles from the dealership and was able to bring the car down. When I got there my service advisor took the car for the "regional" guy to have a look. About 40 minutes later my service advisor came back to the service lounge to tell me that, according to the "regional" guy, who I never met, said that it was quote, "environmental issues" that caused the issues with the paint job and suggested that keeping the car out of the sun ( in florida !!!! ) would help. In an effort to retain me as a customer, since both myself and my wife have bought Hondas from that dealership, they would make an offer to pay for half of the paint job and that they would repaint and my half of the bill would only be $1200. 00 !!!!! needless to say I turned their offer down and will simply never ever purchase another Honda nor will anyone else in my family !!!!!!.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

After about a year after purchasing my car, I noticed the paint started to appear rather dusky. A short time later, my paint started to peel! my car was only three years old at time of purchase- so peeling paint is obviously not owners fault. No sooner did my roof begin to peel heavily, the hood and side panels and now trunk are starting to peel excessively. It is so embarrassing, and so gross.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2011

Drivers side visor split open falling into face of driver.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

After about 4 years the paint faded really bad on the roof and hood. I talked to Honda about it at the time and they said they had had lots of complaints but that my year was not one that was covered. Recently I went in and they told me that my year had been covered but that time has run out. I feel that they should have advised people if there was an issue. Since I was told it wasn't covered by my dealer and then later told it was and time had run out.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2011

Sun visor has split into and I have no clue why and my third gear is always hard to get into and the rubber seals on the driver door always comes off in the heat of the summer.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

Paint on 2007 Honda Civic coupe (black) fading, chipping, oxidizing same as numerous other complaints on this site and several others. The wear on this paint is not "normal wear and tear" for a 6 year old vehicle, nor is it a result of inadequate wax, maintenance, etc. This is a defect which Honda should fix. I am very disappointed in the low quality this vehicle is reflecting on Honda products.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2010

My 2007 Honda Civic wears out rear tires extremely fast, causing loud vibrations and safety concerns.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2010

I was on a 700 mile trip to visit my family member. In the midway the a/c condenser got damaged and a/c stopped working that lead to suffocation due to hot and humid environment. I had to drive the car for 7 hours in 110 f temperature with open windows on highway. I dehydrated and fell sick and vomited couple of times. There is no safety for condenser to protect it to get hit from pebbles on the road. It is a very common safety problem and Honda is not fixing it. This incident could lead to accident and/or injury.
