2 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2022

The paint is peeling off from the vehicle, exposing the body to rust and reduce the vehicle lifetime and durability significantly. When I contacted Honda about the issue, they told me it is a paint defect from the manufacturing plant. They asked me to get a quote from the dealer to fix the issue, after getting the quote they denied the request saying it is outside the warranty period even when they agreed it is an issue occurred at the plant level. Please look into this and issue a recall.

6 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

The paint on the roof and the hood of my Honda Civic started peeling off last winter and it's gotten really bad. I randomly found out about a paint recall that Honda had a few years ago and contacted Honda about it. Customer service told me that they cannot assist me because the recall is closed as of 2014 and they cannot do anything to fix the problem with the paint. I never received a recall regarding the problem with Honda's faulty paint at my old or new mailing address.

7 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2017

Takata recall- my Honda was totaled and my airbags never deployed.

8 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2017

My car paint and clearcoat started feeling off on roof and hood and spreading all over body parts.

9 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2017

The clear coat is coming off my car. It started doing this in the past year. It looks horrible it's just on the trunk and the panels on top of the side windows. Apparently there was a recall ( 14-034) but this has expired and Honda will no longer cover. I called the previous owner of the car and they said they never received anything from Honda. My car would qualify for this recall and it's obviously caused by their faulty primer/paint mix. Please help.

10 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2017

On my 08 Honda Civic si in fiji blue paint, the clear coat is deterating on the roof and now wheels are peeling clear. . My car is garage kept and well maintained. I did see where Honda would repaint affected areas, so on my last visit to dealer I ask the service lady to please please fix. She informed me that she would document said areas and e-mail me what to do next. It has been 3 months with no solution. I have met a couple of other Honda owners that has had the areas repainted. So I dont know where to go from here. I did see that these certain colors were in a campaign for this reason. I was informed that a deadline was placed, but is the dealers discretionon which cars to re paint and since my car is garage kept the spots are not as large as other photos ive seen. But lately ive noticed areas are growing. So I guess im also asking any advice on how to get this resolved. . I do like my car. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sheet metal beneath the rear window split open the entire width of the glass resulting in water leaking into the car.

12 Body problem

On doors the clear coat is chipping off and cloudy. Color is galaxy grey metallic (nh-701m-4).

13 Body problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

Paint issues - the front hood of the car, front fender, and front side fenders had to be repainted due to faulty clear coat issues. The roof has the same issue, but is outside of the warranty repair window, even though the issue is with their clear coat and not my vehicle; my vehicle is well maintained and well cared for including washing and polishing. Pictures of the roof are provided with no filter or alterations to the photos; the trunk has (knock on wood) yet to show any of these issues, but was also part of this same failure. I do not have any pictures of the hood, front/side fenders as those were repaired under warranty.

14 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2016

Ran over a shallow pot hole on a city street. The car was going 10-15 miles per hour (5 feet after a complete stop at a stop sign). The car was traveling straight across a one way stop. The driver's side air bag exploded (did not deploy) and seat belt stopped retracting. Damage was also noted to the base of windshield on the driver's side.

15 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

My problem is with my almost 11 year old car. 2008 with only 58000. Miles. I'm a senior with limited income,so I can't. Afford to have it painted. Living here among people in the villages that have ample funds makes me feel like the odd person out of place. Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely,(xxxxx). 16 Body problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2015

I would like to report a complaint with Honda corporation. There was a warranty issued for 2008 Honda Civics that covered an issue with paint chalking, cracking, and clouding. I was never notified of the warranty and they cannot confirm what home address the warranty notification was sent to. . . . If at all. . Lack of communication from Honda corporation is a clear gap in internal processes.

17 Body problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2015

The paint on the roof of the car has several baseball size white spots that look like clear coat is coming off.

18 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Clear coat starting peeling off of the roof roughly 6/2015 (roughly at 70,000 miles), to date the problem has spread to the trunk and starting on the side panels. I have reached out to my Honda dealership on two separate occasions and was informed that my VIN was not a part of the Honda clear coat recall and that I would be responsible for all repairs. Vehicle is parked indoors and has not been exposed to any hazardous weather conditions/etc that would cause this paint issue.

19 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2015

My son was involved in a car crash with a large SUV. He hit them from the rear. My Honda Civic went under the bumper of the large SUV. Due to the impact my bumper tore off, my headlights broke, my hood was smashed in and the front end of the car was smashed in. Why weren't the air bags deployed?? that is our concern? my son could have died in this crash due to faulty air bags. We have pictures of the crash. Our main concern is the air bags not being deployed. I would like to notify Honda corp of this incident.

20 Body problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2015

I own a 2008 Honda Civic ex and take excellent care of the car. Since August the paint has been turning white on the roof and cracking on the hood, trunk and around the rear window. According to Honda they have no reported issues with this problem and that I am just not taking care of the vehicle and its my fault. Last August my brother-in-law received a warranty extension for the paint on his 2005 Civic that is a light sandy color. My Civic is dark red. When I mentioned this notice to Honda they said that the issue is VIN by VIN based and my car because it is a "light" color doesn't qualify for this warranty extension. I said to the rep then you do acknowledge that there is an issue with the pain on Civics. She again said no and if the paint is cracking then its something I'm doing wrong in taking care of the vehicle. I took the car to the dealer and they confirmed the issue and stated that Honda is not being supportive of the issue and my car was the 3rd one this week brought in with the same failing paint. It is despicable that Honda can sell a defective item and then blame the consumer for the issue.

21 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Vehicle is a 2008 Civic si mugen painted in fiji blue pearl. Paint and clear-coat are oxidizing, chipping and peeling. When we've complained about this to the authorized service departments, the existence of a known problem has been denied and it's been stated this issue is 'normal wear & tear', which it clearly is not. We just found out yesterday there was actually a TSB (TSB 14-034) put out on this, along with a warranty extension that is now expired. According to the TSB, owners were being notified of the warranty extension. We have never received notification and as stated above, when we've complained, we've been told there was no problem. The cost to fix this will be significant and as time goes by, the paint issue is becoming worse.

22 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2014

Paint on my atomic blue 2008 Honda Civic is fading to a white color on the roof.

23 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

2 things: 1) the passenger side visor broke for no reason. It now hangs in the way of my vision. It doesn't stay up. It is a hazard. I can't have a passenger sit there because it completely obstructs their view. 2) the paint is damaged. Server all spots are "worn out".

24 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

When they did the paint recall Honda in hilo did not do the whole car just the roof now my car is chipping clear coat all over and it is a black car looking horribly wrong and no matter how much I complained for them to fix it they did not and avoided me now there another recall I want them as a Honda dealer to fixed all of it like they promised. I do not required for them to fix the whole car but they need to fix when it all is it might need a while paint job but that your problem not mine. And then they tried to charge me 4500. 00 to paint the whole car. . . . Please help 8084303541, I purchase the car in July and it did notices it yet. Until the car was shipped from sick hanna Honda in vancouver wa to hilo hi.

25 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2014

The top of my car completely lost paint in two large sections (the size of a desert plate, it went down to the bare metal body of the car as of summer 2014. October 2014 I paid $566. To paint the entire top of the car by a local, reputable body shop. I take very good care of my car and wax it regularly. This is the first Honda I have owned and never before have I had to paint a car due to paint totally wearing down to the "bones" of a car.

26 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2014

I moved to California almost 5 years ago and after 2 years the paint on the roof started to peal and now there are big white peeling blotches on the roof and its starting on the trunk.

27 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2014

Collided with truck and damaged front and right quarter panel (approx. $6400 damage) collision threw me from driver's seat to passenger door. I was wearing seat belt as prescribed. The seat belt was completely stretched across both seats but did not restrain me from crossing to opposite side of car. Nor did any air bags deploy (nether side or front). Srs system showed activation.

28 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2014

The steering wheel began to pull my car to the left side. The steering wheel did not respond to the direction right and felt as if it had gone "limp". The front of the car hit the left center median guardrail. I suffered herniated discs and lumbar back injury. The drivers airbag never deployed resulting in my head hitting the steering wheel. I suffered a concussion and cervical neck injury. There were no other cars involved and no weather conditions. Also I was going below the speed limit. I called Honda and they said they could not explain nor help me with the airbag not deploying and the concussion I suffered. They also could not help me regarding the steering wheel pulling left then "going limp". I am still seeing a neurologist and physical therapist for my lumbar and cervical injuries, and neurological signs and symptoms.

29 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2013

There are whitest, silver looking places on roof and top of trunk. This happened sometime within past month or two but I didn't notice right away. Car stays under carport cover. Have been retired for over a year, so car has not been sitting in sunlite at work. Showed service manager on August 09,2013 and he took pictures and said he would contact someone at Honda since there was a 'goodwill' allowance for this and my car is not under warranty now. I had a 93 accord for 16 years and never had anything like this to happen. Got the used 2008 Civic in 2009 with very little mileage. It is to last me rest of my life, I thought. Have always took my Hondas to Honda service dept. For all scheduled maintenance. Have not heard back from service manager. What to do??.

30 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

The paint on my roof around the sunroof the clear coat is coming completely off. I want Honda to fix this as I never received a recall on it.

31 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

Clear coat is coming off the roof around the sunroof you can now see metal. I want Honda to fix this and I never receive any recall on this.

32 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2013

I was turning on from a left lane into a left lane separated by a cement divider; the car went over the cement divider and almost overturned. At night with normal lighting and normal speed. I have had another incident 3 months prior making a right turn. I noticed carefully by comparision of the exact position of similar make sedan cars; this car has the mirror attached to the door panels and presents a harzard (has 2 blind spots) making it especially dangerous at night with low beam lights and old painted divider lines. It needs immediate action and recall so the dealers can reposition the mirrors.

33 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

Around early 2013 I started having issues with the clear coat cracking and clouding up on several areas of the car's body. I almost always take the car to the Honda dealership for service, and I asked them about this a few different times. They said I might be washing the car too much and that I should try not to park it in the sun so much. This problem got worse and worse over the next 24 months and right now the car looks like it's 25 years old due to how bad the paint looks. I recently found out through internet research that Honda issued a technical service bulletin (campaign # 14-034, entitled: paint chalking, cracking, clouding warranty extension) that extended the warranty for the paint. But I never got anything in the mail from Honda, and the dealership people had just kept saying the paint problem was my fault. When I asked the dealership to repair the paint, they said the warranty was expired and that it was too bad for me, so sorry.

34 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2012

This is not a safety issue, but an issue of quality. I've noticed a problem with the paint on my 2008 Honda Civic. It all began with a dull spot on the trunk and worsened with dull spots on the roof. I contacted Honda customer service with no avail.

35 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2012
