The hood was repainted during a recall a year after purchase. Last year, we saw cloudy white patches on the trunk and the paint/coating coming off (the car is black). Now there are large white patches on the trunk, hood, and there is paint peeling under one of the doors. It is spreading quickly across each area.

4 Paint problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

My paint has been fading for about a year now. Every time I bring my car to Honda they tell me there is nothing they can do about it. It looks terrible. My car is still in very good condition, but the faded paint all over the body of the car is a complete eye sore. I would like to keep this car for many more years (even when I purchase a new one)I see many many Honda Civics from 2008 that look the same. I want to buy another Honda in the near future, but because of this defect I don't think I can. It is embarrassing for me, and for Honda.

6 Paint problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2016

I noticed paint was really deteriorating on my wife's Civic on top hood and trunk. I started a web search only to find that there has been a known problem for years. I found out that there was a Honda campaign to correct the issue but it expired last year. I contacted local dealership and told there was nothing they could do. They did take pictures to hold for record. I escalated to Honda America customer service who gave me file # 4452996 to have the issue reviewed. The customer service was horrible. Many phone calls directly to voicemail without response for days. I was told by ron l. To go ahead and schedule the service with local dealership. I said, "does this mean the paint job will be covered, and he said either part or all should be covered. Before I get a chance to schedule an appointment, another cs agent, tony called and left me a message stating that I should call him right away regarding my file number. 2nd agent alled me and stated that his field representative would be at the local dealership to look at the pictures and make a decision. I receive a call from tony yesterday telling me the claim had been denied. I asked him why and he told me he had no information on why it was rejected and to get in contact with the local Honda dealership service manager for more information. The paint is deteriorating exactly how those covered by the campaign were deteriorating. I can send pictures if helpful.

Paint on my navy blue Civic is deteriorating on the trunk, hood and roof. Also my passenger sun visor is broke. It looks like it melted and cracked for no apparent reason. There have been many complaints about paint peeling and chipping . You would think that Honda would take responsibility for the problem.

9 Paint problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2015

Paint oxidation on roof, hood and trunk of car.

10 Paint problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2015

Paint is peeling on roof. Last week as I was loading a toddler into the vehicle, he managed to grab a piece of chipped paint and put it in mouth. I did some researched and discovered that Honda had issues with this particular paint. However, they are not taking responsibility since I missed their deadline. I am grateful that I was able to intercede and take the piece of paint out of my nephew's mouth and prevent him from going to the emergency room but could you imagine the potential risks out there. Based on my research it is common for this paint to chip on the roof and trunk, and I cannot believe that Honda is simply looking the other way. I guess we only have to wait and see the repercussions of their negligence and hope that drivers are vigilant when loading/unloading unruly toddlers from these questionable vehicles.

11 Paint problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2015

I have a 2008 Honda Civic ex and I take really good of my car, the paint on top is fading to the metal, I see this is a problem for a lot of Honda Civic's. Also I am having major electrical problems, awhile ago my horn randomly stopped working and then 5months later started working again, then my passenger window wont roll up or down half the time, the lights where my stero is stopped working and now the buttons on the radio or on my steering wheel are working, when I turn my heat/ac up or down it messes with my headlights. I had all the fuses checked and they are just fine. Wondering if anyone else is having electrical problems and if there is a recall!!! I love Honda but I am to the point where I want to get a different car and not go with Honda.

2008 Honda Civic, paint color gold is faded on hood, roof and truck. This car in not old enough to look like it is ten years old! I have waxed it to help prevent peeling of paint but does not help. This year I also had to have my engine replace by Honda (at their cost) for a cracked head. Very disappointed in Honda.

18 Paint problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

I noticed in the spring of 2014 that the paint on the roof of the car was fading quickly and significantly. Then, last month (March 2015,) I noticed the clear coat is cracked and peeling off completely on the right rear bumper and the trunk. There have been no incidents to warrant this type of damage, so I suspect it's a factory defect.

19 Paint problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2014

The paint on the hood and trunk are peeling off.

20 Paint problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

Clear coat began cracking, had it redone by the dealership. Now the paint on the hood is chipping abnormally fast, and the right front fender had to be redone (12/15/14) since the clear coat was flaking off. I take great care of my car, but find myself highly discouraged to continue doing so given that I cannot afford a new car and I'm fighting a losing battle with both rust and chips. I don't have time to touch up 10-15 spots bi-weekly, regardless of size.

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

23 Paint problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

The rear of my vehicle's clear coat paint is cracking and peeling. There are crows feet and cracking on the rear quarter panels, panel connecting the quarter panels to the roof, and the right rear door. Honda only offered to pay 25% of the cost to repair when it has already been admitted that the clear coat paint they used is defective. Unacceptable.

24 Paint problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

The paint is oxidizing and flaking off even though the car was washed and waxed regularly.

25 Paint problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2012

When I bought my Honda Civic, the blue color was one of the reasons I chose it. Had I known the paint job was going to fade after only 4 years, I probably would've chosen a different color or even a different make. Is there a recall for this problem?.

26 Paint problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

About a year ago I started noticing large white patches on the roof of my Honda ( black). I thought perhaps something had scratched it. Now, a year later, it has worsened. The car looks about 10 years old, the paint is faded throughout, the roof is covered in white patches.

27 Paint problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2012

The paint started to peel and white areas appeared all over the body of my new grey Honda Civic. I took it to my dealership and they determined that the paint was defective. I got a second opinion who also said that the paint was defective and there was an thermal issue during the initial application process. I took it to the dealership I bought it and they said they would repaint only certain areas and said I was responsible for the rental car. I told them I wasn't comfortable with partially painting the car, that the older paint was also defective and would obviously fade too. They said it wasn't their problem and they wouldn't do it. I will never trust Honda again.

The front of hood and fender area . Paint is chipping away. It is called crow's feet. Lines and chips along with cracks are very visible to the naked eye. Honda has a TSB about it, since a lot of people have the same issue but they only claim to take responsebility of the vehicle that have protection plan. When I bought the vehicle they never offered me, nor speak of protection plan. So what can I do?.

31 Paint problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2010

I reported to Honda of America that the clear coat paint on my vehicle had begun splitting throughout the hood and fenders. Honda of America recommended that I take it in to be evaluated by the service team and service manager at my local dealership. I took my vehicle in to earnhardt Honda in avondale, arizona, the end of December 2011. I belong to a Honda Civic enthusiast forum called 8thcivic. Com. Hundreds of members there with Civics in the color of nighthawk black pearl and fiji blue pearl have noticed this phenomena and have posted pictures of there vehicle. This has sparked some debate over why Honda has not admitted to and taken responsibility for issues regarding paint on the 06-11 models. I've heard paint experts on the message board state that the clear coat is cracking, called "crows feet" due to a defective clear coat that was applied during manufacturing. This mixed with the heat of the engine bay caused the clear coat to separate and crack. The long term effects of this will basically be the paint bubbling and wearing away. I've hard my car for only 2 years, and it had 38k miles on it when I brought it to the dealership. Since that time the dealership has been ignoring my calls and Honda of America has been running me around in circles to no avail.

32 Paint problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2008

The paint on my 2008 Honda Civic si a few months after I bought it. The dealer told me that it was from rocks. There are paint chips on the car where it is not possible for a rock to hit it. They refused to fix the problem and said that a rep would contact me. I've been complaining about the paint for 2 yrs and have not heard from any Honda rep. I've put touch-up paint on the car to prevent the car from rusting but the touch-up paint won't even stay on. When I first bought the car I had it "simonized" in the hopes that the paint would be protected. Guess I was wrong and now I don't know what to do. My car is rusting out and it's only 2 yrs old.

33 Paint problem

Failure Date: 03/14/1015
