1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2021

My brakes will be stuck (I could not apply the brake) when I suddenly press down the brake pedal hardly. I had this issue when I bought it new. I have reported the issue to Honda once I did online survey. Today, I was involved in an car accident because I could not apply brake. I hit the car in front of me in the street. The brake works fine after the accident if I press the pedal slowly. This is dangerous and scary.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

Takata recall I had an air bag recall back in 2016. I noticed the electrical system of the car is always giving me problems. For example the light inside in the middle of the vehicle works whenever it feels like working. Second the passenger side of the window motor I already changed it 3 times and it's still giving me trouble. I already spent too much money I gave up on trying to fix it. Also I already lost count on how many times I have changed my brakes minding that I hardly drive my car. In addition my gas never last either no matter what kind of gas I put. Tried all of them and it's always the same. I bought my vehicle because they promised me I would spend less gas but that was not true.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle accelerated. The contact mentioned that the brake pedal was depressed with force to stop the vehicle. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,716.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2016

Like I keep reading. . . I've had to replace my brakes on my Civic multiple times too. This is my first Honda, but I have had vw, Toyota/scion and I never had an issue like this with my brakes, so I know it is not due to my driving abilities. If I knew about the additional brake expense that I would incur, I would have not purchased a Honda product.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

I bought my Honda Civic brand new in 2010 and I had to change both front and rear brakes three times already, and now I need to change my front disc and brakes again! I also have machine turned the rotors once and now I have to replace the front rotors because recently on highway driving, when I need to use my brakes, the car wobbles and shakes. I was told by an auto mechanic that it's my front rotors that need to be replaced. I only have a little over 58,000 miles on my car and mostly highway driving! my son has a 2009 Honda Civic and he only had to change his brakes once since buying the car new!! I understand there's lots of complaints about the 2010 Civic's brakes and this has to be a recall that Honda need to address! I do not have a job and this is costing me unnessesary expense that I can't afford!.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2016

If you apply your brakes harder than gentle, the brakes will feel like they are skipping. You almost need to stop apply the brakes before it goes away. I've owned a Honda accord 1993 for over 20 yrs and never experienced this. If I knew what I know today, I would have never bought another Honda!.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2016

I have been forced to replace the front and rear numerous times since purchasing this vehicle.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2015

I have had many automobiles over my almost 60 years of driving. I do not remember having brakes replaced at less then 35,000 miles of use, & have gone as much as 60,000 before needing replacement. My current Honda Civic 2010 now needs brakes at 16, 000 miles something is radically wrong with my car as manufactured to make this early replacement necessary.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2015

The breaks were changed in the front at about 30,000 miles and the car now has 65,000. A day after the breaks were changed, at a dealership, they began to squeal very load. I have taken the car back 4 times to complain about the noise. Each time they told me that they sanded the breaks lightly and put stop squeak on. Not more than a few days after each incident the problem continued. The breaks tend to make this ear splitting sound on decline and at low rates of speed. Hot or cold does not seem to matter. This problem happens about 70% of the time when breaking. The car is used 50%/50% for city and freeway driving. 40% of which is traffic. I just want this problem to stop. Also sun visor no longer will stay up. Annoying.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2015

Brakes need to changed around 10 k miles each time. Dealership said there is no issue on the brakes and couldn't tell me why I need too change it so often. Per other Civic users, there may be something that made the brake wear so quickly. There is no reason why the brakes so wear quickly. I believe it should be recall.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2014

After purchasing my 2010 Honda Civic, within a month after putting 5,000 on my Honda Civic I had to replace the brakes, brakes are faulty, ive went thru 2 brake jobs within a year and only 12,000 miles. . . . . . . Need to recall the brakes.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2014

I bought the car 3 years ago and after 6 months started brake problems. Car doesn't come to complete stop if don't press it very very hard. When I took car to dealer, he says good and working fine. I took car to more than 10 different dealers and everyone says the same. But I can clearly hear the noise when I apply brakes hard.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2014

My brakes make a whistling riming loud sound. Sounds like a belt. This should definitely be a recall. What has happened to Honda I had another Civic for 15years never had a problem this one has been nothing but problems please fix.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2014

Since purchasing my Civic in 2013, I have had to replace the front brakes twice, once in January, 2014 and again in February 2016. The brakes began grinding and slowly stopped working over a very short amount of time. This vehicle is not driven in stop-and-go traffic very much, mostly highway travel and so twice in 3 years is at least once too much and if you figure that is it only 6 years old, even twice is too many.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2013

Premature brake pad wear. Had to replace front brake pad at 24,022 miles.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2013

Premature worm brakes. Its a new car with new brakes. After barely 5000 miles I have to replace the brakes.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2013

I was able to pull the key out of my Civic 2010's ignition while it was still in drive. Alsol, the emergency brake does not always engage fully, causing my vehicle to roll. This has happened a few times in the past, and I have called my local Honda dealership as well as the main Honda corporation to report. The local dealership refused to look at this safety defect without a $105 diagnostic fee, which I cannot afford. I have called Honda inc. To report the incident, they refuse to take any responsibility and will not inspect my vehicle.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2013

The contact owns a 2010 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 15 mph, she heard the brakes squeal as she depressed the brake pedal. The failure was diagnosed and it was determined that the brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 39,700 and the current mileage was 40,000.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2013

Experienced loud, grinding, noise coming from the front driver side while driving- (noise-not consistent). Took Civic to the dealership and diagnostic came out to bad brakes!! this was a huge shock and pricey surprise!! not only did the brakes wear out prematurely (in mine and others opinions) but the dealer had the audacity to overcharge me. Embarrassed to say I paid: there special $210. As an naïve 1st time buyer, I overpaid. The dealership tech woman ripped me off. I am very disappointed, as I thought Hondas are reliable and economically inexpensive to repair vehicles.

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2013

While traveling on interstate with cruise control engaged at speed of ~72, went to apply brakes and brake pedal was hard and did not move. Cruise control did not disengage. Had to hit brakes several times before they worked. This incident occurred again 2 days later. Same exact issue.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2013

Front brakes at 3mm after 17,000 miles. Strongly recommend an investigation on this issue, a huge safety concern and consumers paying out of pocket. Something is not right. Please investigate.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2013

I went for my regular maintenance service and I was told that my brakes need replacements. Brakes worn out at very low mileage and it is not covered under warranty. There is something wrong with the brake system.

23 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2013

As mentioned by other owners, I had to replace my brakes in -25000 miles where as a former Honda accord owner, I replaced the brakes every -55-60k. The quality and safety of the 2010 brake system is very unsafe especially since I took the car -25000 miles to the westminster Honda world and they didn't even catch it! moreover not even within warranty period!.

24 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2013

Had repairs to brakes and rotors resurfaced after being told two days prior brakes were fine. Since then parking brake locks up during cold weather unable to use.

25 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2013

I kept hearing squeeling noise on my brakes so after taking it in to Honda they told me I needed new brakes. When I bought the car it had 8000 mi on it at around 18000 is when I kept hearing noises then went away. Now at 22000 mi I brought it into Honda to check it out as other places said brakes were fine. (maybe they didn't want to be responsible as they knew it was a Honda issue?) I think this is premature wearing out of my brakes as brakes should last approx. 30000 mi not only 10000-11000 miles. I was told it's not under warranty so I paid for new brakes and kept the old parts. I've read Honda had a class action lawsuit on earlier models and I believe they should have extended to my year Honda Civic 2010.

26 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2012

Premature brake pad worn out 17000 miles on front brakes less than two years since the Civic was bought. Paid $287. 00 and Honda is refusing to reimburse fees.

27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2012

I was told that my brakes were gone at approximately 30k miles. There was no indication that there was a problem or an issue. New front brakes were installed. Then as of June 2014, with only 23k miles on this set I again had to replace the front brakes. No warning lights or indicators. No squealing to indicate that there is a problem. I'm very nervous now because there is no way to tell if the brakes are going. I deem this to be an extreme hazard and no longer feel safe.

28 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2012

I own a 2010 Honda Civic lx model. My car was serviced at 18,800 miles. I was told by the Honda service department that my brakes had to be changed. I bought the car with 6,400 miles on it. I was shocked at the fact that the brakes needed to be changed at about 12,000 miles into driving the car. Brakes are meant to last about 30,000 miles before being needed to be replaced. Honda does not let the owners of these cars know that they have faulty brakes that they wear out quicker. Nor are they willing to cover the costs of early brake changes.

29 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2012

I was driving my car like every day. But every time I press the brake I heard the sound (metallic). I went to the Honda service center. After inspection they told me that the rotor was deteriorated and the front pad is damaged. I have to do the servicing and its a maintenance issue. So Honda will not pay anything! I paid $289. 26 from my pocket to do the rotor resurfacing and replace two front brake pad of my new Honda Civic. Would you believe it? I have the receipt with me. After servicing I found the same problem again. I came back to the service center. This time the service adviser did the b*** s*** with me. I told him to drive my car. After driving my car he understood the problem was not solved. So he took my car to the service center again and after 10 minutes he came back to me. He told me that one of the screw was broken, they replaced it. I was shocked!!! I told them that they misguided me and it cost me around 300 bucks. But the service adviser refused to agree the truth. . . This is crazy. Why do they replace my new Civic brake front pad and also do the resurfacing of the rotor??. . . Is this called service. . . I want my money back. . . First question is why do I have to do the resurfacing of rotor for only 18k mileage car?? and second question is. . If it was done by mistake. . Then why they took my money!!this is all crazy.

30 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2012

I had to replace my front brakes on my 2010 Civic, only 15,000 miles on it. I've had cars prior to this one and have never had a problem like this. The brake system is wrong and dangerous!.

31 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2012

I had to replace my brakes after 17000 miles,.

32 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2012

Squealing noise comes and goes. Months later it returned and lasted for longer intervals. Took it to the dealer and was told the brakes needed replacing. The car is only 2 years old and less than 20,000 miles. All driving is done locally. Have been a long-time owner of Hondas and have never had this problem. It is not a "usual" issue. This is clearly a poorly made vehicle.

33 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2012

- premature brake ware 40 thousand miles on the car and the brakes have to be changed this will be the 3rd time, checked in Feb 14, 2012 and deemed fine. - rear wheel wobble - passenger window glass shakes when window down - door unlock makes screeching noise when unlocked - car whines when started.

34 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2011

Today, my 2010 Honda Civic needed new front brakes at relatively low mileage - 26000 miles. At first I was shocked. Now, I am deeply disturbed because today, I learned of a class action suit filed in the eastern district of California regarding brake issues in 2008, 2009 and 2010 Honda Civics. Service rep at Honda dealer where I purchased the car indicated that brakes have been a problem on Honda accords in the past, so much so, that Honda did come out with an improved brake pad for the accord. I understand that a class action suit had been initiated due to the accord problem as well. Honda needs to address this problem with respect to the Civic. Honda is faced with a very serious, widespread safety problem on 2010 Civics due to problematic brakes. Let's hope they step up to the plate and do the right thing by their customers. Our safety depends on their integrity.

35 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2011

I drove my car onto a major highway, speed limit 70 mph. Entering the highway my car accelerated from 70-79 by itself with my abs kicking in at the same time. Not allowing me to brake. Nearly causing a pile up, I exited immediately turning into a shopping center to park my car. With two passengers in the car with me, I proceeded into the lot, up a hill when I could feel my car accelerating by itself. With my passengers in disbelief, I lifted my right foot in the air so they could see, my car accelerated from 0-21 mph by itself, up a hill. Scared out of my mind, I pulled my car over and parked it. I contacted Honda, took my car in for service only to find out that they "have never heard of this issue before" and that this was their first time looking into such a possibility. A couple days later after they blamed this issue on my "third party floor mats" and advised me to take them out of my car, I did. I drove without the floor mat for two weeks, to make sure that it was my car acting up and not the mats. Sure enough, my car acted up 2 more times in those two weeks. The first time it happened in traffic, in the middle of a bunch of stop lights. I would brake a little too early & attempt to coast in traffic to the car in front of me, I'd take my foot off the brake and the car would fully accelerate all by itself, causing me to slam my brakes. Second occurrence, was when I was getting into my car, turned it on, but never put it into gear or even shut my door, the engine started revving with rpms up in the "reds". Multiple times. After taking my car in a second time, they were once again blaming these problems on my floor mats and that they weren't going to service or take care of anything at all, I am writing this complaint to further enforce that the 2010 Honda Civic needs to be recalled. The computers are defective and Honda is doing absolutely nothing about it.
