1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2025

I had gotten a new battery because one point after work, my car would not start. I then got installed a brand new battery, and it still wouldn’t turn on. The only things that turned on were the dashboard, but no noise coming from the front engine compartment. I tried turning it on after, but it wouldn’t start at all. I then got it towed to an auto shop and they installed a new starter. The new starter worked for a month before another incident in a walmart parking lot where it would not start after turning the key multiple times. After a few times it started and I drove it again to the same auto shop. The auto shop had no trouble starting it, they turned it on and off several times without any fault. That was in July of 2025. Fast forward a few weeks later, there was two instances in which the car did the same thing, the engine was not turning on only the front dashboard lights. After the first try it turned on. Now on 8/22/2025 as I was driving on the highway going 75mph the car stopped decelerating. Pressing the gas pedal did nothing. It stopped completely, thankfully I was able to stop on the side of the highway but it was still a very dangerous situation had it been another time during the day. This time, the engine compartment, once the key was turned was simply making a noise but not starting or “turning over”. I lifted up the hood and noticed that when the key was inserted the engine compartment was shaking. I got it towed to the same auto shop awaiting the results. I looked up the symptoms for a faulty fuel state and my car is showing to have a lot of the same as it would be that.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

The ac evaporator broke and only the ac condenser and sealer are under extended warranty. The ac evaporator is a costly repair and several other Honda owners have noted it has failed. Without the ac evaporator functioning, the ac system does not work.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2025

The ac compressor failed and has been leaking refrigerant. I went to Honda of chantilly to get it fixed. They contacted american Honda who stated that on my carfax I have a branded title. I called the maryland mva who confirmed that my title for my car is clean. American Honda has a recall on the ac shaft compressor and is refusing to replace it. I ended up passing out because it is 105 degrees here and the ac system is failing. When calling Honda of America multiple times I was told that they cannot do anything because that they believe that the title is branded. I offered to show them proof and they are refusing. They still will not service my car and they will not fix the safety issue.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2025

Ac evaporator is leaking on my 2019 Honda Civic. Honda corporation refuses to cover the 2k repair cost eventho they extended the warranty on the ac condenser and ac compressor to 10years due to faulty parts causing premature failure. Those faulty parts caused my ac evaporator to leaking I believe Honda corporation is conducting unfair business practices by making their customers flip the bill for that shady business practices.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2025

The damage was to my rear windshield on my 2019 Honda Civic lx. The incident happened on March 19th 2025 at 5:30 pm while at a stop light. I heard a big bang or pop and initially thought that a big rock had been thrown at my car and assumed it smashed into the body. I immediately got out of my car and inspected the body quickly on my side only, fearing the light would turn green soon and I would need to resume my drive. I saw no damage. The left turn light became green and I proceeded to turn left. As I checked my rear view mirror, I noticed that my rear windshield was shattered, being held in place by the tint film. I was confused and did not know what happened. When I arrived at my destination, I inspected the glass and found no signs of an object striking the glass and causing damage. I went to the internet and looked for any incidents similar to what I experienced. I found that other Hondas have "popped" and "shattered" rear windshields in the past. The temperature on the date of the incident was a mild 72 degrees and sunny. The last time I used my rear defroster was a week ago. I did not use my ac/heater on the date of the incident. I plan to see my Honda dealership and make arrangements with Honda or safelite to get the damage repaired.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2025

Received a recall letter that the part was finally available for repair back in October 2024 and every time I contact my local Honda dealer, they generally give me the answer to call back next month to schedule when it’s in their physical stock. Called today, now March and the service rep said they’ll call me when the part becomes available. It’s been well over 60 days and haven’t been able to drive my car distance for safety concerns since most travel is on the NJ parkway.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

The stirring wheel consistently sticks and jerks in speeds 35 and over. The steering wheel constantly has to be adjusted to drive in a lane. It is unsettling situation.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2025

While driving, my car slows down and just stops. I’ve been lucky to pull over and get out of ongoing traffic but then it won’t turn on to the point where I’ve had to get it towed. This has happened 3 times already. It’s a safety hazard.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2024

The open recall repair (NHTSA 23v-858) has not been completed. Additionally, there is a separate open recall, NHTSA recall number 25e-071 (manufacturer recall mmz), involving 18-inch Honda genuine accessory wheels with improperly installed lug seat inserts. Both recalls remain unresolved. Beginning in approximately 2024, the vehicle exhibited intermittent jerking and stalling during acceleration, along with loss of smooth power delivery. No warning lamps were illuminated prior to failure. The vehicle was inspected in July 2025 after wilkes-barre Honda declined to provide assistance, and it passed inspection at that time. In October 2025, the engine failed to start, and the vehicle became fully non-operational. The insurance carrier was notified in October 2025 that the vehicle had become inoperable. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, law enforcement, or the insurance company. It is currently available for inspection but is not safely drivable. Loss of power while driving presents a risk of collision. Multiple attempts were made to schedule an appointment with wilkes-barre Honda regarding the outstanding recall; however, no response was received. The manufacturer was also contacted on several occasions, but no meaningful assistance was provided. Despite repeated requests, the dealership has not conducted a formal inspection or confirmed the cause of the failure. The vehicle has remained inoperable for several months. Under these circumstances, asking me to arrange towing is not reasonable, as delays in addressing recalls have created additional practical barriers to accessing necessary transportation and resources. *note: I've included a phone number for this complaint but do not have one. Additionally, lack of vehicle access due to unresolved recalls had already created practical barriers in obtaining one.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2024

I am writing to express my concern regarding a serious issue I encountered with my vehicle. On September 9th while driving, the sunroof of my car spontaneously shattered without any apparent cause or impact. I did not see or hear anything that could have hit the sunroof to result in such damage, and I was driving under normal conditions. This is an alarming safety issue, and I would like to understand how such a failure could occur. It not only caused significant inconvenience but also posed a serious risk to my safety while on the road. I believe this may be due to a defect in the glass or its installation, and I am requesting an immediate investigation into the cause of this incident.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2024

An internal module was not working properly causing the car to not shut off properly and drain the battery. The car alarm would also go off randomly. It was causing there to be issues with starting the car and concern when driving due to the battery potentially not functioning properly and it being strained. A Honda dealer says this is due to an internal module not working properly. One message that appeared was “ keyless access system problem”. But this message did not appear once I started my car again after the batter was drained.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2024

My car is not starting properly due to the recall. I reached out to my dealership and they basically told me there is nothing they can do due to the part being on recall. I am a single mother to a [xxx] daughter and with this being my only form of transportation I cannot afford to get a new vehicle or miss work due to not having a vehicle. I am worried my car will stall in the middle of the road with my daughter in it. I am upset the dealership told me there is nothing they can do when it is primary not my fault there is a recall or parts. I understand but this is unfair to costumers for the company not having back up plans in this type of situations. I cannot continue paying for a car that is broken that is out of my control. Is there a different route we can take for this issue ? a replacement ? a refund ? anything. I don’t mean to be rude. Just very frustrated and upset. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2024

Noticed paint peeling on the door handles driver and passage side mirror covers; had the driver side mirror cover replaced not the passage side. Also bought a paint kit but to no avail. In the process of contacting the dealer the issue.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2024

Recall for a/c components was serviced. Less than a year later, evaporator for a/c experiencing same issue. Dealership doesn't want to warranty, asking for $1500, even though evaporator experiencing same issue as recalled components. Online research finds this is extremely common.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2024

Side mirror have peeling paint and other areas are not affected.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2024

My engine stalled out a few days ago on the way home from work. My mileage was 28 miles until empty and the car suddenly was coming to a stop but wouldn’t allow me to accelerate. The car then died and I had to get it jumped. I’m not sure if it’s the fuel pump recall. I’ve contacted the dealership and nobody has returned my calls about getting this fuel pump module recall fixed.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2024

Subject: formal complaint - premature ac evaporator failure in 2019 Honda Civic vehicles national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) 1200 new jersey avenue se washington, DC 20590 dear NHTSA, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the premature failure of the air conditioning (a/c) evaporator in my 2019 Honda Civic ex. The substantial repair cost, exceeding $2,100, leaves me deeply concerned about a potentially widespread defect within this model's a/c system. My dealership informed me that other crucial a/c components, such as the condenser and compressor, are covered by an extended 10-year warranty. However, the evaporator, is not. This disparity in coverage seems unjustified, given the significant number of similar complaints I have found online. . Read more...

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2024

I received a notice from Honda dated "February 2024. " the notice states that "the fuel pump module may have an improperly molded impeller. Over time the impeller can deform and cause the fuel pump to become inoperable . . . An inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. " Honda acknowledges the fact that there could be an issue with certain of their vehicles, but later states that "[t]he replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle are not currently available but are expected to become available in the fall of 2024. " knowing that Honda wants me to drive a possibly defective vehicle for at least 6 more months while knowingly allowing me to do so with the "increas[ed] . . . Risk of a crash or injury," is extremely concerning. I contacted american Honda motor CO. , inc. Customer service and the representative informed me that she has "made a case" for me and that, "if anything happens, just bring it to a dealer. " she could not provide me adequate answers to my follow-up questions. Specifically, I am concerned that, if it does happen, why bring it to a dealer? Honda has explicitly stated in their recall notice that the "parts needed to repair [my] vehicle are not currently available. " additionally, suppose, as Honda cautions, the "risk of a crash or injury" occurs and I do not have the opportunity to make it to a dealership? I, any passengers, or any other driver on the road, Honda operator or not, could become deceased as a result of an "inoperable fuel pump. " I also drive a kia stinger and, as your agency might be aware, this issue was front and center with kia a few months ago. Unfortunately, my stinger fell victim and thankfully, I was in my driveway when it occurred. I am not comfortable driving this 2019 Honda Civic given this information and my past experience. This behavior and "notice" from Honda is evidence of their negligence.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2023

I was driving on a relatively hot day around 85f and the car ac was working fine but in the course of 30 min the ac started blowing hot air on my face while I was driving on freeway. The temperature was set to 69f but it still kept blowing hot air. After a while it started giving me a headache and I had to turn it off. I got it checked by Honda dealership and there is an evaporator leak in the car confirming why I got a headache. This is a safety risk to the passengers of the vehicle as high concentrations of the ac refrigerant can leak in the car potential poisoning or making the driver loose consciousness and loose control of the car causing an accident. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership as there is an extended warranty for the condenser due to the high pressures of the newer refrigerant causing holes in condenser and evaporator but there is no extended warranty for the evaporator which poses a greater risk to the drivers than the condenser since the part is inside of the cabin.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2023

On Sunday morning, 8/27/2023, I entered my car after having driven it an hour prior for around 30 minutes to and from a sandwich shop. I entered the vehicle and turned the engine on without issue, and attempted to accelerate. After making it about ten feet, the acceleration on the gas pedal suddenly stopped working. I would push the gas pedal and the car would not move, nor the engine even rev. Confused, I parked and turned the car off and on again. Upon turning the car on, the engine stalled for a brief moment before slowly engaging. It was at that moment that I felt the entire car shifting back and forth, shaking. I immediately shut the car off out of fear and waited for a few moments before making a second attempt, being met with the exact same result. The next day, I entered the vehicle and attempted to turn it on again. This time, it started up and the engine engaged without any issue. However, I was now bombarded by dozens of error messages on my dashboard with systems such as emergency break, abs, power steering, etc. Giving me warnings. This morning, I had a mechanic come out and attempt diagnose the issue. He was confused when running the diagnostic tool through the systems, as he received "permanent codes" regarding several issues with the car. Taking some time to research, his opinion was that there may be an issue with the fuel pump motor. There is an open recall on 2019 Honda Civics for the fuel pump, however my specific vehicle does not seem to show up as needing this fix when I search with my VIN. After taking some time to check things, the mechanic and myself proceeded to test drive and ensure that the car seemed safe to operate, where the mechanic approved my vehicle and encouraged me to send a report.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2023

The air conditioning system has a leak. There are a lot of complaints about it online and they already issued an extended warranty for Civic vehicles covering up to year 2018 for a leaking condenser. Right now I have no air conditioning.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2023

I got pulled over and they said my plates belong to a different and different year.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2023

The ac system on the 2019 Honda Civic sport hatchback touring stopped blowing cold air out of all the vents (driver and passenger) after turning off the car, only the passenger and right center vent blew a little colder air but the driver vent blew hot air. We took it into the dealership for inspection and their finding was compressor and condenser are dry along with evaporator core needing replacement. They also found that the freon level was low. The dealership told me that Honda extended the warranty on the compressor and condenser due to the new freon they are using which is known to cause issue with the ac system. They seen evaporator core going bad on other Civics as well but aren't sure why Honda isn't covering evaporator core yet.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2023

Air conditioner condenser & compressor stopped working.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2023

The air conditioning system in my 2019 Honda Civic has experienced a total failure of the evaporator core due to a refrigerant leak. This follows previous documented failures of the ac condenser and compressor shaft seal, both of which are currently under Honda-issued 10-year warranty extensions. Various other users have also reported these issues with their 10th generation Civics. The failure of the ac system prevents the defroster from effectively dehumidifying the cabin. During rain or high-humidity conditions, the interior of the windshield fogs up rapidly and cannot be cleared, severely obstructing my field of vision while driving. In high-temperature environments, the cabin temperatures reach dangerous levels within minutes. This poses a significant health risk for passengers, particularly children and the elderly, and causes driver fatigue/distraction due to heat exhaustion. Despite multiple repairs to other components in this specific r1234yf system, the system continues to fail. Honda has diagnosed a leaking evaporator core, a part known within the owner community to have the same manufacturing defects as the already-warrantied condenser and compressor. I am requesting an investigation into why the evaporator core was excluded from the current 10-year warranty extensions despite having the same failure mode as the condenser and compressor parts.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2023

Ac compressor and evaporator leaking due to manufacturer fault.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2023

The vehicle's condenser and evaporator have failed. I recently purchased my leased vehicle and at the time of purchase, I was not notified that there is an extended warranty provided upon the date of purchase if the condenser is to fail. I received a letter in the mail 2 months later after it failed about this issue. Thinking I would be covered I took my vehicle to the dealer and was notified that the condenser did in fact fail however the vehicle's evaporator has also failed and that is not covered by the warranty. The condenser was not able to be replaced without also repairing the evaporator at the same time which cost $2,000. With the results of climate change, the summers are getting hotter which imposes major health/safety issues. The letter received makes it clear if the condenser is to fail due to manufacturer issues it would be covered however if caused by an outside source it would not. It is very clear due to the condenser failing it caused the evaporator to fail or the evaporator was also faulty already to begin with which should then also be covered in the extended warranty. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The a/c stopped working about 3 & a half years into the vehicle's life which is well past the regular warranty time frame.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2023

All the car has problems all dash warning coming up from nowhere it’s no safety the other day I was driving 55 mph power steering lock brake failure very un safety and if you google the problem I’m not the only customer with this issue it’s a loooot of people having this issues.

Gas pedal broke off in a 20 mph collision- air bags exploded.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

It showing multiple warning lights on the dashboard but everything was fine.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2022

The paint on my 2019 Civic coupe began to completely flake off inside the fuel door jam. The primer is completely exposed. There was no scratching or dent or any kind of impact that could have brought on the paint damage since the area is tucked away. I brought my car to the dealership today and they took pictures to document the occurrence and are escalating my concerns. Hopefully this will be covered under Honda's extended paint warranty (which I've read only affects certain models and years).

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2022

Ac condenser have hole on it. Causing the ac gas to leak.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2022

My pearl gray paint is completely chipping and flaking off on the mirrors and all 4 foot handles.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2022

I took my 2019 Honda Civic into the dealership because I got a warning signal that says, collision mitigation system problem. The dealership says it needs a part that is back ordered and told me I could drive vehicle until part comes in. It has been several weeks. I am not comfortable driving my vehicle with this warning light on plus whatever they did since I assume this is a vital safety component/system. Also0, I have no cruise which makes long trips uncomfortable.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2022

My 2019 Honda Civic sport has 2 different recalls and this car has not been fixed or checked by a mechanic at this time, I was sent back home from my appointment at Honda loma linda dealership with a promised phone call to resolve the situation, which as today 1- car stall's unexpectedly while driving, when this happens it looses power. 2- ac was not working properly since the car was bought in 2022, I set my appointment at Honda dealership but service was denied due to some other vehicles priority, my phone calls were never returned and as today I've been spending out of my pocket trying to fix the issue on my own despite I had it reported to the dealership quite while ago.
