1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2025

I had gotten a new battery because one point after work, my car would not start. I then got installed a brand new battery, and it still wouldn’t turn on. The only things that turned on were the dashboard, but no noise coming from the front engine compartment. I tried turning it on after, but it wouldn’t start at all. I then got it towed to an auto shop and they installed a new starter. The new starter worked for a month before another incident in a walmart parking lot where it would not start after turning the key multiple times. After a few times it started and I drove it again to the same auto shop. The auto shop had no trouble starting it, they turned it on and off several times without any fault. That was in July of 2025. Fast forward a few weeks later, there was two instances in which the car did the same thing, the engine was not turning on only the front dashboard lights. After the first try it turned on. Now on 8/22/2025 as I was driving on the highway going 75mph the car stopped decelerating. Pressing the gas pedal did nothing. It stopped completely, thankfully I was able to stop on the side of the highway but it was still a very dangerous situation had it been another time during the day. This time, the engine compartment, once the key was turned was simply making a noise but not starting or “turning over”. I lifted up the hood and noticed that when the key was inserted the engine compartment was shaking. I got it towed to the same auto shop awaiting the results. I looked up the symptoms for a faulty fuel state and my car is showing to have a lot of the same as it would be that.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

Dear NHTSA, I am writing to file a complaint regarding an unresolved recall issue for my vehicle. Although the manufacturer’s service center has completed the recall repair, the repair has not been updated in the NHTSA system, and the vehicle still shows an open recall. This unresolved status is creating serious issues: the car cannot pass vehicle safety systems (vss) inspection. Registration cannot be completed for the buyer. The bank is holding funds from the sale until the recall is officially cleared. I have contacted both Honda corporate and the servicing dealership several times, but despite their assurances, the recall remains uncleared in the system. Vehicle information: year/make/model: 2019 Honda Civic VIN: shhfk7h62ku410338 this delay is unreasonable, disruptive to my business operations, and unfair to the customer. I respectfully request NHTSA’s intervention to ensure that Honda updates the recall status promptly and accurately. Thank you for your assistance.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2025

When trying to start the car the car won't turn over. When it finally does start and I am driving it seems to lose power as if it wants to shut down. Im afraid to drive long distances. I looked up recalls based on my VIN however nothing comes up but when I look it up based on year make and model it has an open recall for faulty fuel injector that needs to be replaced for the same exact symptoms. Please help as I am 7months pregnant and afraid for my safety.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2025

I brought my car to the dealership Honda north at 382 newbury street in danvers MA on 6/5/25 to repair NHTSA recall number 23v-858. The vehicle was returned to me on 6/7/25 at which time I was told the interior would have a strong fuel smell for 1-2 days, but that would disappear. After 4 days, the fuel smell worsened and the "check engine" light had come on. On 6/11/25 I returned the vehicle to Honda north. When I picked up the vehicle several days later, the fuel odor was minimal, and the check engine light was off. Today [xxx], the check engine light is back on. I plan to call Honda north to schedule what will be my 3rd visit to Honda north for this safety recall repair, which clearly is not being repaired properly, and putting me in further danger of crash or injury. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2025

I took my car in this morning for a recall. For the fuel pump. It took the dealership very little time to get my car out which was strange for me because originally they told me it would take 4-5 hours. Following the recall I needed gas since I was told to have a little under half a tank. I was on empty following the procedure. While I was pumping gas I had my hand help on the pump. There was not automatic pump enabled. My car keep taking the gas which was weird and then suddenly I saw gas leaking from my fuel point. I stopped the pump instantly. I soon called Honda but there was no pick up for a long time so I began driving a 3 mile trip from my gas station to the dealer. I started with 365 miles of gas remaining. Once I got to the dealer I had 355 miles remaining. Never in the years I have had that car have I seen my car consume so much gas especially on such little trip. Arrived at Honda. They are very nonchalant about the issue and I do not want them to rush the fix and create more damage and a bigger issue.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2024

On my way to work my car stalled while being driven. I lost the ability to maintain my speed and my car decelerated to a stop in the lane of traffic. The car would not move forward and would not start after it was turned off. I was stopped in the right lane of traffic on a four lane highway during morning rush-hour traffic. A police officer had to remain behind my car in the lane of traffic with their lights on until a tow truck arrived to prevent an accident. My car could not be moved due to the high rate of speed of the cars traveling around it and cars had to merge quickly into the open lane. There were several near accidents while waiting for the tow truck. There were no warning signs or messages that the car had an issue. The mechanic the car was towed to believes the problem is with the fuel gauge and stated they had recently repaired several cars with this issue that were the same or similar base model and year as my car. When inspected the car was found to be out of fuel and, after fuel was added to the car, the cars computer system showed a higher amount of fuel then was put into the car. At the time of the incident, the car showed three or four bars of fuel left on the dashboard fuel display and about 40 miles until empty on the digital display range. The police officer at the scene observed the that the car was showing that it was not out of fuel. The component or system is available for inspection upon request. This issue is similar to a previously repaired recall that effected this car with the fuel pump which stated that the car could be prevented from starting or cause a vehicle to stall while being driven, increasing the risk of a crash. The car is regularly maintained, kept in good working condition, and is mainly used to travel to and from work.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2024

The open recall repair (NHTSA 23v-858) has not been completed. Additionally, there is a separate open recall, NHTSA recall number 25e-071 (manufacturer recall mmz), involving 18-inch Honda genuine accessory wheels with improperly installed lug seat inserts. Both recalls remain unresolved. Beginning in approximately 2024, the vehicle exhibited intermittent jerking and stalling during acceleration, along with loss of smooth power delivery. No warning lamps were illuminated prior to failure. The vehicle was inspected in July 2025 after wilkes-barre Honda declined to provide assistance, and it passed inspection at that time. In October 2025, the engine failed to start, and the vehicle became fully non-operational. The insurance carrier was notified in October 2025 that the vehicle had become inoperable. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, law enforcement, or the insurance company. It is currently available for inspection but is not safely drivable. Loss of power while driving presents a risk of collision. Multiple attempts were made to schedule an appointment with wilkes-barre Honda regarding the outstanding recall; however, no response was received. The manufacturer was also contacted on several occasions, but no meaningful assistance was provided. Despite repeated requests, the dealership has not conducted a formal inspection or confirmed the cause of the failure. The vehicle has remained inoperable for several months. Under these circumstances, asking me to arrange towing is not reasonable, as delays in addressing recalls have created additional practical barriers to accessing necessary transportation and resources. *note: I've included a phone number for this complaint but do not have one. Additionally, lack of vehicle access due to unresolved recalls had already created practical barriers in obtaining one.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2024

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2024

Reached out to hill country Honda, san antonio texas since the inception of this recall, approximately 2 years ago, and when I received Honda notifications to contact dealer for scheduling. Received another notification from Honda, today, November 4, 2024 and service advisor at hill country Honda stated they do not have the part and do not know when they will be receiving and to k=just keep checking in to see if they have the part. This is unsafe, disapointing, and just bad business practice from both Honda and hill country Honda.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2024

My car has one recall part . It say :american Honda motor CO. , inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2016-2021 model year Civic vehicles. The fuel pump impeller was improperly moulded, resulting in low density impellers. Over time, the low-density impeller can deform and interfere with the fuel pump body, rendering the fuel pump inoperative. I tried to contact some Honda dealer but they don't have the part to replace please help me out thank you so much.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2024

Honda failed to notify me of a fuel pump recall and has failed to replace or fix it within a reasonable time frame. Honda still have not given a timeline of when they will be able to fix the recall and told me to “figure it out” if I want it done sooner.

12 Other Fuel System problem

It’s almost been a year since the recall came out. The dealerships are saying Honda hasn’t issued any parts. Called the marysville service center, was told Honda wasn’t fixing any cars unless having problems. Am I supposed to wait until something happens, get in an accident???.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

Car has delayed cranking time. Recently got a new car battery but car has weak, struggling and delayed start up. Video proof has been sent to dealership since issue could not be reproduced while car was there for 4+ hours recently. Recall on fuel pump in the past. Other vehicle models are on current recall list but mine is not. I fear that my car will stall while driving or I will become stranded on the road due to this issue.

16 Other Fuel System problem

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2024

My car is not starting properly due to the recall. I reached out to my dealership and they basically told me there is nothing they can do due to the part being on recall. I am a single mother to a [xxx] daughter and with this being my only form of transportation I cannot afford to get a new vehicle or miss work due to not having a vehicle. I am worried my car will stall in the middle of the road with my daughter in it. I am upset the dealership told me there is nothing they can do when it is primary not my fault there is a recall or parts. I understand but this is unfair to costumers for the company not having back up plans in this type of situations. I cannot continue paying for a car that is broken that is out of my control. Is there a different route we can take for this issue ? a replacement ? a refund ? anything. I don’t mean to be rude. Just very frustrated and upset. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

21 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2024

My emergency braking system goes off constantly without anything in front of me. I almost got rear ended on a highway because my car came to a dead stop with nothing in front of me or even on the sides of me. It does this daily. My car also has been having a delayed start. It sounds like it almost does not want to start but then starts. Both of these issues have been affecting other Hondas including regular Civic sedans but excluding my model and have recalls issued.

22 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2024

Recall on fuel pump; multiple dealers do not have the replacement piece, they say “you can but don’t call other dealers. ” I made an appointment over the phone to fix said recall, finally a dealer didn’t say they were out of the part. I show up. It’s a joke. No parts available. “we’ll send a notice in the mail” they aren’t “helpful” Honda people. They physically told me, you have to wait for a problem to happen with this recall and maybe we’ll prioritize you. Basically it’s a lottery if this will be fixed, and it’s only most likely if you get hurt. They’re waiting for accidents to happen to have to fix the cars. Excuses do not save lives, taking cars with issues off the road does. It’s may 19th 2024 and this recall allegedly occurred 12/18/24.

23 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

Hello, I received a recall notification for my 2019 Honda Civic in may 2024. The recall notice states the fuel pump module may have been an improperly molded impeller. The recall is dated may 2024, I called the markley Honda dealership in fort collins colorado where I purchased the car and was told they did not have the parts yet. It is now mid October and I have called numerous times including yesterday to be told they still do not have parts. I am very concerned that this has not been fixed in a timely fashion. In the recall it states the car could stall during driving increasing risk of crash or injury. Thank you, [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

24 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2024

Honda fuel pump had a recall back in 2020-2021, which was replaced months after. Now, two years later my car has completely stalled out on me in the middle of driving, not once but twice. In the middle of the road. Both incidents happened when I had gas in my car, full battery, etc. And would not turn on until again (both times) until I manually put gas in it. Accelerating is extremely weak, engine is sputtering constantly. Brought it to commonwealth Honda after the first incident, no answers. After having this happen a second time, I brought it back a second time. I was told there is nothing they can do as they can't see the car stalling in person. I have reiterated to both technicians and management that this car is not safe to drive due to a faulty fuel pump, and I am being told tough luck. I would like this problem and these incidents documented in the event I do end up getting injured from this faulty part they are refusing to fix. It has happened two times in the last month, and I'm sure it won't be the last.

25 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2024

I received a recall notice about the fuel pump in February 2024. I have been calling ed morse Honda to schedule the replacement and they haven't had the parts. I just received a notice from Honda that states the following: "this notice is being sent to inform you that these parts are now available and you can bring your vehicle in for a free repair. " I called ed morse Honda again today, Nov. 14th and they informed me that they don't have the parts and do not know when they will get them. This is a serious fuel pump issue according to the Honda recall notice that said "can result is serious injury or death.

26 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2024

I received a recall notice for the fuel pump module. The safety consequence in the recall notice says the following: an inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. The replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle are not currently available but are expected to become available in the fall of 2024. I should be entitled to a loaner car until the part becomes available and is fixed. If my car stalled while making a left turn in an intersection could be deadly. I called the Honda motor company and they reiterated the same information in the recall notice. So, no help there.

27 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2024

My 2019 Honda Civic has been under recall for months now. I wonder why it's taking so long for Honda to come up with a resolution. I called the Honda recall/customer service line a few weeks ago, and they said that the part was unavailable and that I should talk to my dealer to get an inspection to rule out any other causes. Over the past six months, I've been having on-again, off-again issues with my car, specifically after fuel-ups at gas stations. Initially, I thought this was an issue with the fuel quality, so I reported it to the arizona department of agriculture, who told me the gasoline was acceptable. I've had to use fuel system cleaners and slightly higher-tiered gas as a scapegoat measure. Considering that this recall can cause issues with the fuel pump module and result in stalls, increasing the risk of injury and death, I would have hoped Honda would have come to a solution by now.

28 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2024

The fuel pump has been on recall and ive been waiting over 2 years for a part.

29 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2024

I received a notice from Honda dated "February 2024. " the notice states that "the fuel pump module may have an improperly molded impeller. Over time the impeller can deform and cause the fuel pump to become inoperable . . . An inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. " Honda acknowledges the fact that there could be an issue with certain of their vehicles, but later states that "[t]he replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle are not currently available but are expected to become available in the fall of 2024. " knowing that Honda wants me to drive a possibly defective vehicle for at least 6 more months while knowingly allowing me to do so with the "increas[ed] . . . Risk of a crash or injury," is extremely concerning. I contacted american Honda motor CO. , inc. Customer service and the representative informed me that she has "made a case" for me and that, "if anything happens, just bring it to a dealer. " she could not provide me adequate answers to my follow-up questions. Specifically, I am concerned that, if it does happen, why bring it to a dealer? Honda has explicitly stated in their recall notice that the "parts needed to repair [my] vehicle are not currently available. " additionally, suppose, as Honda cautions, the "risk of a crash or injury" occurs and I do not have the opportunity to make it to a dealership? I, any passengers, or any other driver on the road, Honda operator or not, could become deceased as a result of an "inoperable fuel pump. " I also drive a kia stinger and, as your agency might be aware, this issue was front and center with kia a few months ago. Unfortunately, my stinger fell victim and thankfully, I was in my driveway when it occurred. I am not comfortable driving this 2019 Honda Civic given this information and my past experience. This behavior and "notice" from Honda is evidence of their negligence.
