3 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2012 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/15/2012

I bought a fully loaded 2012 Honda Civic si sedan, with navigation. Car was wonderful first few weeks, then the issues started. When I engaged the clutch into 1st gear, also reverse, when I would level the clutch with the gas pedal, I would hear a high pitch noise. Kind of like a squeal. In all types of conditions. It is worse in the snow, rain, up a hill, and what not. I took it to my local Honda dealership, the tech testdrove it with me. He heard the noise, he said that he heard it. He thinks it was something hitting the clutch-plate. He said OH Honda is not gong to fix this due to your style of driving I said excuse me? he said well there is no need to have an intake, and an exhaust. By the magnuson-moss warranty act of 1975 it states: if a vehicle is bought new, and you put aftermarket parts on it, just because there are aftermarket parts, it does not void the warranty. If the dealership realizes the issue, and just verbally says they can't fix it due to the parts, without even lifting the car up, that is illegal. They have to find the issue, and say why the aftermarket parts are affecting the clutch. I then called the delership owners son, he said email me the issues, and the VIN. I did, he forwarded it to the customer service manager. When he received the email, there was a corporate Honda representative there. He read my email, and said that they need to look at it. The manager called me, said he received the email that I sent the owner, he said they have to re-make the sound again, even tho they heard it, and put me threw the ringer again. There are also alot of parts inside that need to be replaced. So I have an appointment next Tuesday, hopefully for them to see the issues. There are many people on forums for the 12 si, 9th gen, that are complaining also. The Honda rep said that it was normal in many clutches to hear a high pitched noise?.

5 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/17/2008

The drive-by-wire throttle system equipped on the vehicle has been very tardy in its response time to throttle-pedal input. This was already a "recall" for this vehicle, and has since gotten worse after the new software was installed on the vehicle. For instance, if downshifting into first gear, quite often will the engine accelerate itself and push the vehicle for extended amounts of time (10-15 seconds) with no pedal input. This has occurred not only in first gear, but also fourth gear and sixth gear, not while downshifting but during normal highway driving conditions. The total number of incidences of this is approximately 10. Luckily I do have a clutch and when depressing the clutch, the engine will raise its revs from ~2000 to over 3000 and then drop off to idle. As well, while shifting gears, throttle response time from pressing the accelerator pedal is slow, and when releasing the throttle pedal there is a 1. 5-2 second delay. Not so safe in heavy traffic.

6 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/17/2008

My 2006 Honda Civic si has an issue with "hanging revs" that even after the release of the gas pedal the rpms seems to stay steady for 1-2 seconds. The inability of the dbw system will eventually lead to early clutch failure, also there is surging and jerking in 1st-2nd gear. I must say that it makes me very nervous to drive because I can't predict what the car will do. The car also seems to have a notchy, stiff, and grinding 3rd gear that won't seem to go away even with recommended fluid.

7 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/12/2008

(a) notchy shifting (b) resistance going into 3rd gear (c) grinding related to 3rd gear (e) transmission kicking out/popping out into neutral from 3rd.

8 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/28/2007

I own a standard transmission 2007 Civic si. I was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, I put the transmission into 1st gear and started moving. I then tried to shift from 1st gear into 2nd at approximately 3500 rpm. I had the clutch pedal fully depressed but could not put the transmission into 2nd gear. I put the transmission back into neutral and tried again to shift into 2nd gear. Second gear finally engaged but was accompanied with a loud grinding noise. This situation was dangerous because I was in the middle of the intersection with no power. I was focused on trying to figure what was wrong with the car and could not focus on the road. Nothing has been done yet to remedy this situation. I am taking my car to my dealership to see what is wrong.

10 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2004 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/06/2007

The contact owns a 2004 Honda Civic. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle vibrated excessively and hesitated when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection twice and the transmission fluid was changed both times. The technician speculated that the failures could be contributed to the starter clutch and valve. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 71,716 and current mileage was 110,000.

11 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/03/2007

The vehicle has a manual gearbox and the clutch pedal is very stiff to operate. This combined with a fairly long travel could require short divers to position their seat very close to the steering wheel in order to get enough leverage in their leg to fully depress the clutch pedal prior to staring the engine. The incident date is non-specific as this is an ongoing issue. I have raised my concern with the local dealer and was advised that they cannot reduce the stiffness of the clutch action or reposition the engine disconnect switch (so that the pedal does not need to be pressed to the floor).

12 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2001 Honda Civic

Over the last four years, the manual transmission has repeatedly disengaged, popping out of gear during operation. The transmission has been repeatedly serviced, but problems continually recur. 13 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2003 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/10/2004

Manual transmission clutch depressed all the way to the floor but shifting is not smooth and lots of times even "grind" into 2nd gear at low speed(disengage at about 3000rpm then shift into 2nd). Feels like the shifter tires to push back to neutral. Also clutch pedal does not release so smooth after a long period of driving, making noise when pushing down and "clicks" when engaging.

14 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2000 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/11/2001

Noise from transmission area. Noise when gas pedal is released, in gears 5,4,3, and maybe 2 &1 but rpm's too high to hear. Happens only in gear and only when the clutch is engaged. Local dealer, stevens creek Honda have replaced throw-out bearing & gear bearings with no relief.
