1 Driveshaft problem of the 2014 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/27/2020

I bought the car brand new in early 2015. Never had so much as a slip in the transmission. Got a recall notice in 2015 about a sensor for making the "check tire pressure" light stay on when starting the car. Honda tells me they fixed this in December 2015. On August 27, 2020, while driving down the road on a very dangerous highway, the transmission just stopped. No noise, no pop, no stutter. The car started decelerating and every error message known to man came on the screen. Check power steering, check tmp system, check engine, check transmission, etc. I was able to pull over, barely getting across the line and having to sit and pray for half an hour that the huge cars barreling toward me would not hit me. Got it towed to king Honda. A technician called five days later and said the transmission is shot. I can either pay $6000 for a transmission from Honda, or I can pay $2000 for a used transmission. He said the drive shaft pulley broke. I asked him about the recall number 15v574000 that says the software settings that control the transmission operation may result in damage to the transmission drive pulley shaft. He said there was no recall on my car. He said he'd talk to his manager and call me back. He left a message saying the transmission has come apart on the inside and I would need a new one. In the meantime, I'd called the dealer where I purchased the car. The man told me it was just something that happened. I asked about the recall. He said it had nothing to do with it. My husband called and the man listened to him and agreed that these things don't "just happen" to a Honda that is less than 100,000 miles with no notice, no problems, no noise. He agreed to have a look at the car and said if the drive shaft pulley is in fact broken, it would be related to the recall. We towed it tonight and will wait to see what they say.

4 Driveshaft problem of the 2012 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/12/2017

Recently, I started noticing my vehicle experiencing a slight loss of power when attempting to accelerate, and a tendency to over-rev, as well as spotting in my parking space. The problem was intermittent at first, occurring mainly in the morning. After two days, I took it to a mechanic to take a look, and after cleaning the undercarriage, he took it for a test drive. Upon entering a roundabout, the vehicle lost all driving power. He inspected it again, and found that the front left drive shaft had slipped out of the automatic transmission housing, allowing all of the transmission fluid to leak out. While shopping for replacement parts, I found mention of this exact problem being reported in the same make, model and year of vehicles, requiring a recall.

5 Driveshaft problem of the 2015 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/01/2015

Purchased 2015 Honda Civic (special edition) in Nov, 2015. When driving the vehicle at any speed (highway or streets), when I take off my foot from the accelerator, the car "kicks" a bit, like there's something going on with the transmission. It does it more often when driving the streets. Then when accelerating, it does not feel that it's changing gears properly. It "kicked" once on the highway and was pretty loud. I'm not a mechanic so it's hard for me to describe what is happening. I thought the car was just "breaking itself in" so I was not concerned. But my boyfriend says it sounds like something with the power train/drive shaft. I looked up any recent recalls on 2015 Civics and there is one for the power train. I contacted the dealer but was advised my car is not affected in the recall. Maybe not, but it's doing the same thing as what the recall describes. I'll be taking it in for them to look at on Dec 30th, 2015.

6 Driveshaft problem of the 2009 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/09/2014

Right drive shaft popped out from the rear differential after switching gear from r to d while the driver was trying to get out of the drive way. The car went into roll in park situation. The car is at relative low mileage and have no previous accident. A faulty drive shaft assembly could be really dangerous if the incident was happened on the road.

7 Driveshaft problem of the 2012 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/04/2013

When turning the steering wheel right and left, there is a loud clanking noise. It happens 95% of the time. The dealer told me it was the power steering fluid (even though there is no power steering fluid as the 2012 model has an electronic system). The noise has continued and gets worse. They told me other models had a recall on the driveshaft which may be the issue but they cant do anything unless I pay out of pocket because my car was not under the recall.

10 Driveshaft problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/08/2010

I own a 2006 Honda Civic 2 door coupe. It is currently in the service shop at the local Honda dealer as it requires a new transmission only 5700 miles past the drivetrain warranty. It is my understanding that this is a "rare" occurrence as stated by the service manager and usually happens with cars with much higher mileage. It is a manual transmission that as of 2 weeks ago has been slipping, grinding and whirring. I have requested that the Honda customer service center get involved due to reports you have published starting back in 2001 about faulty transmissions in Civics. There has been no recall since it has been determined it is not a "safety" issue. How can this be?? when you pull out into traffic and your gears slip giving you no acceleration?? I purchased a Honda due to its "longevity" and as of this point, I will never purchase another Honda again. The consequences of this faulty transmission is that it has leaked into my clutch and requires a new clutch, transmission and driveshaft at a cost to me of over $5000 when I still owe $7500 on a car that's only 4 years old with 65722 miles. I am paying for a rental as insurance does not cover this and I am truly upset that there was never a recall, especially since there are many many reports about Honda Civics transmission problems dated back to 2001. Its obvious that there is something wrong and would appreciate that you all investigate this further so that no other people have to go through what I am going through.
