1 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 2001 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/06/2007

I am the original buyer of Honda Civic 2001 4dr and srs light goes on frequently. As long as the car was under warranty dealer used to fix it without any charge. Last time in 2004 I got it fixed by the dealer. At that time car was out of warranty, but as the problem existed before the expiration of warranty they fixed it. Srs light problem reappeared in March 2007 , and when I took the car to the dealer, he said that problem was not the same. He stated that something was wrong in seat back sensor. Dealer is aware of the recall on srs from Honda. . . And now he is not willing to help me. I never had any accident. There is some inherent problem with srs in this car. Dealer wants me to pay $600 to fix it. This the 6th time srs light is on.

2 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 2003 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/26/2007

I have a 2003 Honda Civic that just failed new jersey state inspection for a loose seat condition. It appearedthat thiswas a common failure since the new jersey motor vehicle department has failed 256 Hondas for loose seats in the last 24 months. I looked if there were any recalls ,but there were none on record. I believed that this was problem that should be covered by Honda under defective parts or workmanship. The seat anchor bolts were secure. Itwas the chair rail system that failed somehow andwas loose. The dealer wanted over $500. 00 to repair what looks like poor work manship or defective parts on the part of Honda.

3 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 2003 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/07/2005

*** this is for a 2003 Honda Civic si *** (1) accident @ 55 mph. Drove too fast through a right curve going up a 10 degree hill on wet pavement. Car spun out of control, and hit a utility pole on the driver's side door immediately aft of the front right tire (and engine compartment). (2) failure was driver's side seat. As I drive aggresively often, I sit with the driver's side seat at a 90 degree angle. During the accident the seat jammed in a completely reclined position. After retrieving my belongings from the vehicle, the seat was not able to be adjusted to my usual 90 degree angle position. (3) nothing done, car was totalled.

4 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 2004 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/24/2005

Driver's seat began to move while driving the vehicle. Took car to dealer who reported seat bushing are worn already. Car has only been driven 10k km ( 6k miles). Parts are back ordered so seat is still loose. A potential problem if invovled in collision before seat is repaired. Honda issued sb624365 back in July 2001 for a similiar complaint, as yet no sb for 2004 model year issued.

My fiance has been involved in two rear-end collisions, both in Honda Civics, over the last year (the last accident happened on 11/12/04), and in both cases, the driver's seat back broke so that she was thrown back at a greater angle than one would have expected. The first accident required her to have a painful back operation, with various vertebrates being fused. This cannot be a coincident that her seat back broke on both occasions.

12 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 1996 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/07/2001

Both seat backs collapsed when our Honda was rear-ended. We (my wife and I) were stopped in a traffic jam (due to an accident ahead) on a downtown freeway (I-20 in monroe, la). We were rear-ended and knocked into the left lane where we travelled down the lane for several car lengths, then hit the guard rail and a car in the left lane (by that time, at a slow speed). The seat backs of both seats collapsed and we were laid back. I was driving and pulled up with the steering wheel to maintain control of the car, although we were in a skid. The head rest of the driver's seat also broke away from the seat back. My wife and I suffered only soft tissue damage in our necks and lower backs (strains and bruises), but I was wondering if the seat backs should have collapsed the way they did. The interior of the car was in tact and the rear crumple zones worked great.
