When my 2012 Civics fuel tank is filled all the way, the gas seems to flush back and forth while stopping or parking on hills. It makes a loud noise and the gas slams into the walls of the fuel tank. This is unsafe because it throws off the balance of the car by having the gas flow in such an abrupt manner. In no way, shape, or form should a 2012 Civic have this problem. The last thing a new car owner wants is a loud noise from the fuel tank everytime they brake, stop, or park on hills. The dealership said there was nothing they could do about it and that all the other 2012 Civics had the same problem. Honda needs to fix this issue.

Our 2003 Honda Civic's gas tank cable that locks the filler snapped making it unable to unlock or re-fuel the vehicle. Happened as we were on highway and needed gas and went to gas station, unable to put any gasoline in the vehicle and we were running out of fuel. Went to open road Honda who had to order cable and install it. Waited 5 hrs for them to get the part as it was not in their stockroom. They installed new cable and we were then able to re-fuel.

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. While driving 70 mph the front left tire struck a piece of wood and ruptured the fuel tank. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the vehicle was leaking gasoline. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer who stated that there was a hole in the fuel tank. The vehicle is currently being repaired at a cost of $640. 00. The contact is in the process of contacting the manufacturer. The contact does not feel the repair will remedy the failure since the dealer is replacing the failed component with a plastic fuel tank without a guard to protect the fuel tank from road debris or recurring. The failure mileage was 54,000 and the current mileage was 54,010.

Upon reading report # 10235631 on Honda Civic 2007, "a sound like water rushing from the rear underside of car upon braking and accelerating": my 2007 Honda civic does this also. It is obvious to me that it is the partial tank of gasoline sloshing back and forth inside the gas tank. Most, if not all, cars' gas tanks have sheet metal baffles inside the gas tank to limit the sloshing of fuel upon motion of car. Either the baffles are not adequate or non-existent. Dealer just looks at me when I mentioned this. I know cars inside and out, as I have done almost all of the mechanical repairs on my cars for 55 years, including the innards of the gas tank. "it's a no-brainer" !.
Plastic gas tank fractured leaking fuel resuling in fire.

The fuel gauge goes crazy for lack of a better term. One minute you're driving and the gauge shows you have a half tank of fuel. A few miles later your fuel light comes on and implies your out of gas. Then when you fill-up, the car only needs a half tank of gas. As someone who does highway driving everyday, this can be unnerving. Someone else who had the problem said a dealer said to fix the gas gauge would be comparable to brain surgery. To go into fix it would probably cause some other problem.

The contact owns a 2001 Honda Civic. The contact stated that fuel would overflow while pumping gas. When refueling, the fuel tank would not shut off the gas. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but they did not know how to remedy the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000 updated 3/19/09 gas continued to overflow. Updated 03/26/09.
I bought my 2000 Honda Civic used from a dealer in April of 2003. After about 2 months of having the car, I have noticed that when the gas tank is about a 1/4 (quarter) of a tank and/or below the car stalls (hard to start) when trying to start the engine. This happens during all seasons. This is my first car and I am not sure of what to do. I have an appointment with the dealer to inspect the car and I am hoping that something can be done about this problem. I am a young woman, and it's often scary at times when I am getting into my car at night and it does this.

While traveling approximately 25 to 30 mph and making a turn, engine stalled and caused steering column to lock up. This problem did not result in a crash or injuries. Dealership examined vehicle for engine stalling, but has failed to remedy the problem. While driving, consumer heard a metal to metal sound coming from right wheel well. Consumer was told computer was not set properly according to the VIN code, this was a service bulletin, dealer stated this could be why stalling was occurring, 4 fuses blew and now dealer replaced fuse box, dealer thinks this may be a reason why the vehicle stalled also, dealer also states that he does not know why the fuses blew to begin with, the blown fuse caused moonroof to be inoperable. Vents loose. Trunk release inoperable. Springs squeak and were replaced. Defective weld in the passenger side door rusted. Vehicle experiences rough idle. Driver side tweeter cracking. Driver side mud flap loose. Passenger kick panel uneven. Fuel gauge erratic.
Gas tank is leaking causing fumes which results in discomfort to passengers in vehicle.

Consumer was traveling about 60mph on highway and vehicle stopped. He lifted hood up, and there was gasoline sprayed all inside of engine compartment. Vehicle was towed to the dealership.
The car is either difficult to start or starts and dies when the level in the fuel tank is near or below the 1/4 tank mark. This problem is prevalent in the 1999 and 2000 Civics, and Honda is aware of it. They claim to have a service bulletin on the problem, but I could not find it on your website. Honda refuses to fix it. This is a security issue for me. I purchased this car for my daughter, so that she would have reliable transportation. She is in law school, and has to spend a great deal of time in the library, late at night. She parks in the parking decks and by the time she leaves, hers is one of the few cars left. It concerns me that she might be pursued by someone, reach her car ahead of him, and then the car fails. With the population of Civics out there with young people driving, it is possible that this has already happened to someone. We have a right to expect that our kids are safe when we go to the expense of buying them a new car. I believe that many parents pay the extra money required to buy a Honda, because of the supposed quality of the vehicles. We shouldn't have to worry that their cars won't start when they are in danger.
Fuel guage does not register correct levels of fuel, cause unknown. Please give any further details.
