After filling up for gas, I turn my vehicle on and the instrument panel went crazy with warning lights and audio warnings. I shut the vehicle off, waited a few seconds, and then started the vehicle. This time the vsa and abs warning lights remained on, along with the lcd screen showing a system failure on these two systems. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where it was diagnosed that the vsa modulator module was completely fried. This is very disturbing to me, as the vehicle only had 827 miles on it when the problem occured, and the module fried while sitting at a gas station (the car was not moving). The dealer is fixing my car under warranty, but the mere fact that this happen on a vehicle with such low mileage and not moving is a concern - not to mention the price of this module (~ $900. 00).

The rpm down to 0 while stopped at a red light. Tried restarting the car, the rpm would go up for a few seconds while a lot of metallic noise of loose parts flying around under the hood. Took it to two mechanics, turned out the drive belt tensioner bolt snapped in half, half went into the block.

The transmission has a rattling noise. Little apple Toyota Honda told me that I would need to replace the entire transmission. I purchased the car from little apple a little over a year ago. I also purchased an extended warranty for two years. This repair will not be covered because they said that I have exceeded the mileage.
On multiple occasions, while shifting the car into 3rd gear, the gears grind. The shift knob is lined up exactly where it should be to go into 3rd gear. The car will also pop out of 3rd gear at random without even stepping on the clutch to prompt it. This is a very dangerous problem to have in a standard car, and I have seen many people make complaints about this online. I called Honda customer service and they said that it was my responsibility to get the car fixed, not theirs, and that they base most of their claims for reimbursement on mileage as well as Honda customer loyalty. The gentleman then proceeded to ask me if I had owned a Honda before and insinuated that due to the fact that this is the first Honda that I owned that the likelihood of them reimbursing would be slim. This is not right. I did not choose for my transmission to be built with a faulty part, and I should not be responsible for fixing the problem when my safety is called into question.

Pulley bolt malfunctioned causing water pump to break while also damaging the drive belt.
The weirdest accident I had January 8th, 2012, around 4:45 pm with my Honda Civic, I consider it a safety issue that was addressed to Honda dealer and american Honda. It is when I was turning to the right, out from the parking lot of a mega-store, one of the keys in my key chain accidentally got trapped in a hole at the back of the steering wheel, the whole is not covered. The trapped key caused the steering wheel to be locked in the right turn position, despite my efforts to turn it back to the left. I. . . Was not able to turn the car back, I did not understand for those moments "what is going on". That what happened to me, fortunate enough, I hit the brakes and my front bumper got scratched and indented hitting the sidewalk; fortunate enough, no one was on the sidewalk of the street and no car was behind me. Fortunate enough, I was not on the high way, driving 65 miles/hour. My losses that need to be fixed and replaced are the Civic key and the trapped key (it was my other odyssey key) both are damaged and need replacement, and fixing the front bumper. I wonder, what would be the situation if this happened to me or anyone else on the high way? I think if I was driving on the high way, someone else will be writing the concerns or filing damage report with perfection Honda and my life insurance. The Honda dealer feels that there is no issue to be addressed, the american Honda case analyst dose not have any opinion, and feels sympathy for me!!! what a wrong response, when it comes to a safety issue.

I had to have all four tires replaced on my 2008 Honda Civic lx at 34,658 mi. July 2010. When I brought my Civic in for its routine check up, which I do whenever I'm at 15% oil life, I complained of a roaring noise from my tires. The Honda tech guy said my tires were badly worn and suggested I buy new tires immediately. Kuhmo tires, the brand I bought from Honda, have a 60000 mi. Warranty. That same roaring noise is back and I went in for my routine check up and was told that my tires need to be replaced at 61285 mi. December 31, 2011. One tech guy hinted that there have been problems with the rear-upper control arm causing possible problems with certain Civics. If this is the case, I want it corrected, and I want my tires replaced at no cost to me. Honda tells me they don't know what the problem is and will allow me to pay full price for new tires while they try to get me a 50% prorated reimbursement from kuhmo. I am not satisfied with this at all. This is a costly safety issue. There has been heavy rainfall in my area and my car hydroplanes. I told the Honda service department this, and they said that it is because of my worn tires. I get my tires aligned and rotated on their recommended schedule. If there is a defective part that is causing the premature wear of my tires and is putting my life and the lives of my family as well as others on the road at risk, Honda must take resposibility for this problem and correct it.
The front of hood and fender area . Paint is chipping away. It is called crow's feet. Lines and chips along with cracks are very visible to the naked eye. Honda has a TSB about it, since a lot of people have the same issue but they only claim to take responsebility of the vehicle that have protection plan. When I bought the vehicle they never offered me, nor speak of protection plan. So what can I do?.
While driving down the road at only 30 miles per hour, the car suddenly revved and then stopped moving. We were in the middle of a crowded road, and there was no prior warning (engine light, etc. ). Luckily, we were able to pull off the road without getting hit, but it was a very dangerous situation. After researching, I learned that there are a large number of complaints about the 2001 Civic's transmission, and even with replacement, the problem persists. The faulty transmission is dangerous, and Honda needs to do something about it.

The exhaust manifold is cracked, causing dangerous fumes to enter the cabin of the car. The fumes are most noticeable when driving at low speeds, and they are enough to cause a strong headache/light-headedness which could potentially cause an accident. There are hundreds of complaints filed on the internet for this exact model/year Honda.
Unintended acceleration while braking. I turned into the grocery store parking lot and had my foot pressing on the brake to slow down for some people. I was looking for a place to park. All of a sudden, the car accelerated forward rapidly while I was braking. I pressed the brake all the way down. The car kept accelerating rapidly. I grabbed the parking brake with my right hand and steered the wheel with my left hand. I kept my foot pressing on the brake. The car kept accelerating and hit metal railing. The car swerved to the right and hit the first concrete step. The car stopped and I was severely shaken. I tried to get the key out of the ignition, but it would not come out. A man, woman, and store manager kept asking me if I was alright. Several police cars came. One policeman inspected the floor mat in front of the driver's seat. He tried to wiggle it. It only wiggled a little bit to the left and remained far away from the gas pedal, not touching the gas pedal. He wiggled the key with some motion and pulled it out. The derry township police dept. Wrote up a crash information report - incident number dtr111023005. I am still upset and shaken from this accident. The sudden unintended acceleration was so frightening and so dangerous that I no longer trusted this car. The next day when I tried to drive this car to the dealership, the temperature was so hot that it was in the red area. I had this car towed to the dealership, ciocca Honda in harrisburg. I traded this 2008 Honda Civic for a 2012 Honda Civic. In June 2011, my 2008 Honda had a complete inspection at good's automobile service in hershey, PA. Everything checked out fine. I have had several episodes where I was driving and the car would accelerate on its own. Ciocca checked my car several times and said it was fine. The 7/14/2010 service form recorded "customer states vehicle accelerates when off gas. ".
Paint. I have nighthawk black pearl, and hood is spiderwebbing. Seems to be very common with this color on 06-07-08 Civic. Please advise. Google returns tons of info on this search. . Read more...
Upon it's 90,000 service at the Honda dealer, it was found that that the front subframe is almost completely rusted through on the passenger side. The driver's side is also rusted but it's not as significant. Photos are available.

I was driving and my car stopped accelerating. I turned it off and tried again. I could not move forward or backwards. I had it towed over 30 miles. After a shop looked at it they said it needs a new transmission, or a used just not the one I have in there now because it obviously doesn't work. Honda Civics in 2001 have a 20 percent transmission failure rate. That is much too high for any vehicle.
After a hot day driving the car visor went down while about to make a rt hand turn I almost pulled out visor fell into my vision. Luck I stopped there was a car coming. It had split in half due to the heat.
Driver side sun visor has cracked and now continues to fall down into my line of sight while driving. Very dangerous as I continually have to push it up.
I had pulled off the freeway exit and proceeded to follow the cars ahead of me as the traffic signal light had turned green and did not necessitate me stopping, only slowing down to continue my left hand turn onto the surface street. Suddenly without warning the sun visor flipped down without being touched and hit me in the forehead. The hard plastic edge hit me relatively quickly and knocked my prescription glasses off. There was a moment when I had my vision obscured and did not see the vehicle in front of me come to a rather sudden stop. I narrowly escaped hitting the back bumper of the vehicle ahead of me. Fortunately I was traveling at a relatively low rate of speed, maybe 20 mph which probably would have caused minor damage, if any. However, people can be injured by whiplash even in low speed rear-end collisions. I have secured the visor with a bungee cord for the moment because the dealership wants to charge customers for this defective part plus labor and it is not cheap. I am afraid that the bungee cord might snap and cause a different sort of injury; however, there really is no way it will stay up against the interior cabin roof without it. I would like to add that I recall my 2002 Honda Civic had the exact same problem which occurred on both the driver's side and passenger's side at different times. Also, at certain times of the day the sun is so blinding in California where I live that it is extremely hazardous to not be able to see the road and highway signs and lights without the assistance of a visor to block the glaring, bright light of the sun. In my estimation it is only a matter of time before this obvious defect causes a major fatality accident.
My 2006 Honda Civic is eating through rear tires. The tires thread on the inside is wearing out. The alignment has been checked and reading through the blogs, a lot of people are having the same problem. I don't know what else to do. I don't feel safe in the car. The dealership (Honda) is not recognizing this problem.
My driver's side visor cracked and split at the top. This makes it impossible to return it to the upward position and it stays in my line of sight during driving. I have researched the problem and thousands of others have reported the same issue with the Honda Civic. This issue needs to be resolved and a recall needs to be made.
The clearcoat paint is peeling on the roof and trunk and other areas of the car are looking dull like they will peel soon too. This car has been well taken care of and there is no reason for this happening, other than defective paint. Although this is not safety related, this is a very expensive to fix problem that should be covered by the manufacturer.
Problem started at 76,000 miles. Engine noise and vibration during cold start (first thing in morning). Happens in park at start and in reverse. When in drive it is ok. Also does not happen after initial start and running of the day, unless it has sat for more than 8-10 hours. There are loads of similar complaints on the internet as I have searched for those with similar problems. This should not be happening in a car with low mileage. There is a defect that needs attention.
I was driving about 25mph on a residential street when I smelled rubber burning and then my car suddenly stopped working. We had it towed to a trusted friend's shop to see what the problem was and then to fix it. We found that the tensioner bolt was broken. Our mechanic has done lots of research on this problem and have found that other owners of 2006 Honda Civics are also having the same problem. He is in the process of trying to replace this bolt. I only have 75,000 miles on this Honda and am very disappointed with this fairly new car. I hope it can be fixed.
Own a 2010 Honda Civic hybrid. Over the last 18 months have gotten 35-42 mpg depending on city or highway. Over all have been happy will purchase until the last several weeks. 3 weeks ago had to take care into service (at 25000 miles) was told the problems I was having of inability to retain charge on ima battery was due to a weak battery. It was decided by the service dept to replace battery. Battery was replaced and is keeping a somewhat better charge but have noticed a significant decrease in power and the auto stop function only working occasionally, also noticed a decrease of mileage down to 23-25 mpg in city. Took the car back to service and after they ran diagnostic test and reviewing with Honda "tech" people was told that performance was how they intended to decrease wear on batteries life. A car with no power to go up small hills and a 25mpg average is not what I spent 27000$ on and that it is certainly not what Honda advertized the car to be.

Driving a 2008 Honda Civic lx on the freeway and all of a sudden the driver sun visor swings down partially blocking my view and scaring me into a swerve. The sunvisor broke unexpectedly and will not stay in place. Honda dealer indicates there are no recalls for driver sun visors at this time so I would need to replace it with a new one. This is definitely a safety issue that could potentially cause an accident.
As I was driving with the sun visor down, I did not need the use of the visor. I tried to push the visor up like many times before. I had to quickly realize that the visor was broken. This problem could have ended up worse if I had not been paying attention to the road and instead to problem that occurred to my sun visor. There was a crack in the edge that is closest to the windshield. To put the visor up requires two hands, and is not possible while driving.
Defecective sun visor obstructing vision.
This is the second time this has happened in this vehicle. The car was put into park and it moved forward and almost stalled. I had step on the brake to keep from moving forward anymore. This sound like the same complaint listed on the most recent recall made by Honda on the their accord's and cr-v's.

Driver side sun visor split open and will not go up making it hard to see stop lights and the road. I have been told it will be around $100 to have this fixed even though it is a known issue with these Hondas.
Sun visors on 2006 Honda Civic fail and need to be replaced repeatedly due to them not staying in the up position.
Driver side and passenger side sun visors are in the down position and have lost their mechanical ability to be placed in its resting position against the headliner. The driver side sun visor in its down position is a safety hazard for the driver because visibility is limited. With limited visibility while driving, this poses a serious danger for the driver while operating the motor vehicle.
Purchased a brand new 2011 Honda Civic 4d lxs model car in March. Within a month the car head computer issue that caused all of the electronic display control to break, speedometer, engine temperature, gas indicator, odometer, etc. All went dead. The car was taken in for service, but no root-causes were found for the issue. After the car had the battrey discharged an recharged the issue simply went away. On 6/12/11 the car was involved in an accident where the car accelerated uncontrollably while attempting to park, breaks weren't functional and it jumped a curb a and ran through a fence before finally coming to a stop. The airbag also didn't deploy, we feel it should have due to the nature of the accident. We feel these could be all related a manufacturer defect that's an underlying electronics issue.
Brought my 2006 Honda Civic in for oil change and tire rotation and three times were told that they were wearing evenly and didn't need to rotate brought it some where else and was told that the tires were cupping on the inside and was told I needed a wheel alignment the mechanic wouldn't rotate because the cupping was so severe on the rear tires then I took it back to Honda and was told I needed updated control arms needless to say if they would have cracked in half I could have tires flyng off my car . I can not believe there is no recall on this item it can be very serious and Honda isn't picking up any of the cost I drive very far every day and now I am not sure howi feel about it with this car and don't feel I should have to worry about it or pay for Hondas mistakes.
