36 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2012 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

The sunlight reflection from the dashboard to the windshield makes some daylight driving difficult to see and reduce visibility.

37 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

The condenser on my 2007 Honda Civic was recently punctured by a small pebble during normal highway driving. I have since (through internet research) found this to be a prevalent problem among Honda Civic owners. Upon closer examination, I found that there is little protection afforded the condenser. Road debris can easily fly through the vents in the front end of the vehicle and puncture the condenser. What happened to me at 60,000 miles has happened to others at 600 miles, and it could happen again tomorrow. The repair cost to replace the condenser ($600) is prohibitive, and the lack of a protective grille is a glaring design flaw. A recall is warranted. I wish this could have been avoided, and Honda should be held responsible for the damages incurred to myself and others.

38 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/31/2011

Ex coupe models. 3rd high mount brake light malfunctioning. Vehicle failed inspection for this reason. Light came back on then went off again while moving wires a few times. Led light not blown, still working but wiring is causing the malfunction. Going to have the vehicle re-wired correctly. I see many complaints online from consumers with this same problem. Very expensive to fix. Led lights shouldnt blow out this soon but to repair the problem the whole led strip has to be replaced and only Honda carries the part. Its also very hard to access the led panel/strip for replacement. Re-wiring is the only cheaper option.

39 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2009 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/29/2011

2009 Honda Civic. Air conditioner started to blow out warm air. This was about 6 months after purchasing the vehicle. I live in the upper midwest and the issue occured soon after the weather warmed up. I took it to boyland Honda in milwaukee, WI where I purchased the vehicle. They corrected the problem and the air worked for the rest of the summer. One year later I have the exact same issue. The air conditioner is once again blowing out warm air. I have an appointment to take the car in to Honda of kenosha. I don't trust that boyland actually corrected the problem so would like to try another dealer. I only have 12,999 miles on the vehicle and have been without air conditioning on two different occasions. My wife has a cr-v (our 2nd) and I have the Civic (also our 2nd) I have always had good luck, this is the first time I have encountered an issue like thies.

40 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2011 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/23/2011

My 2011 Honda Civic lx-s has only 13,000 miles on it and my break pads have already worn down to nothing and had to be replaced yesterday. The repair guy told me there is absolutely no way that at such low miles that this should have happened. There must have been a problem with the original breaks on my car and $378 later, I already had to replace them. If every 10,000 miles they have to get replaced that is just unacceptable.

41 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/14/2011

Went into church one morning and when we got back into the car, the passenger side visor was boken and is hanging down. This is a concern as there have been numerous reports of the driver side visor suddenly breaking which could pose a hazaard when driving and cause an accident. This needs to be recalled and corrected. I am upset that I will be charged for something that is obviously a defective problem with the sun visor and could pose a serious hazaard for drivers.

42 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2001 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/06/2011

On may 6, 2011 car would rev up a little after taking off from a red light as if it was having difficulty shifting to 2nd to 3rd gear. By the 3rd red light the car would hardly move and I was trying to get off to the side of the road with the car just rolling. I managed to roll it off the road but cars in back of me were beeping their horns and cars had to slow down so that I could pull into a parking lot. Very scary. 3 weeks prior to this I had my car serviced at crown Honda dealership. They, as a scheduled maintenance had timing belt, water pump, belts, oil change and 4 tires replaced for $1,300. Honda dealership says that the problem is transmission and had nothing to do with the prior work, which is under warranty. Towed car to another service station and they said the transmission burned out and also needs a torque converter. I heard this was a problem with 2001 Honda Civics. This was a dangerous situation but was it caused by the prior work or a defective torque converter or transmission?.

43 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/27/2011

The driver's side sun visor is defective and one day just swung down, partially blocking my vision. The plastic parts split open and the rod is partially exposed. This is a safety issue while driving because it will not stay up in its closed position -- until I get it fixed, the visor is either down in front of my face, or if I swing it out of the way, down, blocking my left vision. There is basically a sun visor in my face all the time while driving, even if it is night - the most dangerous time. I have to constantly swing it out of my face, or out of the way - even just to get in or out of the car.

44 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/26/2011

My Honda has been well taken care of. I have hand waxed it twice a year since I purchased it new in 2006. This past year, the paint on the roof and trunk began to peel off. The car now looks like its 20 years old and Honda refuses to do anything about it. Both visors on the car have broken 3 times, the trunk latch broke ruining 100. 00 worth of groceries and the tires continuously warp due to a defect in the year model. Now, after replacing the battery I cannot get the alarm system to stop sounding. This year model Civic is such a lemon.

45 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/16/2011

Driving on the highway, suddenly heard a loud popping noise. Opened up sunroof cover to discover that my sunroof had completely shattered. Nothing hit the glass; it is bowed outwards as if it had become too large for the frame.

46 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2009 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/16/2011

2009 Honda Civic 22,472 miles mostly freeway miles. Grinding noise from front brakes, took vehicle to dealer, they said I needed new pads and to have the rotors turned. Inboard pad (piston side of caliper) was worn to wear indicator, outboard pad still with approx. 90% pad life left although there is a groove in the rotor. Told dealer that this was unacceptable wear and he aknowledged it was a common complaint but not covered under warranty. A quick search of complaints on google affirms that this is indeed a common complaint and indicative of a serious design flaw on Honda's part.

47 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

My 2006 Honda Civic driver side sun visor is broken and defective. Honda has issued a technical service bulletin but no recall. The drivers side sun visor can not be adjusted and hangs down in the way or view and I can not see the road to drive safely. Honda has refused to fix this under goodwill assistance and my cars warranty has just expired. Many other consumers have this same issue and Honda is not addressing it. Daily use to block the sun in your eyes when you are driving is the events leading to the failure. The consequences is that I can not see to drive safely. Either sun in my eyes or sun visor blocking view of road. The visor can not be adjusted, it is broken, it just hangs down in the line of sight. To date my local Honda dealer in el paso TX has refused to replace the defective part thus I am working with american Honda for their support to replace this defective part free of charge.

48 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/05/2011

Honda Civic lx 2004 4-dr sedan. Left turn signal not click back in subzero temperatures and below. Honda service determined an internal failure of combination switch. Repair cost 185 plus tax. I declined repair as I consider it a factory issue. American Honda motor company declined to pay for this repair, citing expired warranty and age of car; I disagree with them on both and hold them to pay for this repair. What lawyer would take this case? also at issue is a front compliance bushings cracked: $560 plus tax, and bgi--throttle body service $140 plus tax. Again, ahmc considered bushings a maintenance issue & I disagree. I want this on record against ahmc for failure to pay for the bushing & turn signal repairs. It is unfortunate that no federal agency has the authority to order ahmc to pay for these repairs.

49 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/15/2011

Sun visor in 2007 Honda Civic splits at seam and falls in to line of sight. The visor can no longer be locked in place, it continously falls in to the line of sight.

50 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/07/2011

I had car crash two weeks ago with Honda Civic exi 2007, during driving past three years I complained in service center few times last year about car stability in turns and after drive test they came up with nothing, it happened with me few times that after taking sharpe turn the care swing and the car go out of control. 51 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2009 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/16/2011

I was stopped at a stop sign with my foot on the brake of my 2009 Honda Civic when the car's engine suddenly revved to 4000rpm. I placed the car in park and the engine continued to rev at 4000rpm. The entire incident lasted about 10 seconds and then the engine returned to normal idling speed and I continued on my way. The vehicle, which has about 11,000 miles, is currently at a Honda dealer for evaluation.

52 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/08/2011

2006 Honda Civic lx overly acidic battery that caused a small fire and damage to the positive cable resulting in a $500 replacement. . I think that Honda shoudl have to pay for the replacement cable due to an inferior design.

53 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

The sun visor in my 2007 two door Honda has broken and will not stay in place. It gets in the way of my vision and distracts me when trying to drive. The design flaw of the visors in this car is major. It will not stay up and falls down in front of my face. A few times it has caused such a distraction I almost ran off the road trying to keep it out of my face. This occurs every day and I have to move it to the side which bothers me. Nothing has been done to correct this failure. I am not paying $100 for a replacement which will only end up failing anyways. Honda needs to own up and make a recall so that this design flaw does not cause crashes or any deaths due to the major distraction it creates to the drivers.

54 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/29/2010

I was driving my 2008 Honda Civic with my daughter, at a speed of about 50mph. I was attempting to make a stop for a traffic light. I realized that the car was not wanting to stop, I pressed harder on the brake. When it came to a stop, the engine was revving at high rpms, I let up on the brake slightly to see if the engine would shut down when it lunged forward. I slammed the brake down again and reached for the downshift, when at the same time the engine came down to an idle. The accelerator had obviously been stuck. I had stopped the vehicle over the white line with my nose out in the intersection. No one was in front of me & no one next to me, thankfully. I called a local Honda dealer, made an appt for that afternoon. My husband and I were waiting in the customer area for about 5 minutes when we were informed by the dealer employee that the two mechanics had called in & said that they had duplicated the action I reported & that the car was unsafe to be on the road, for us to leave it & they would take care of it. The mechanic who drove it, confirmed it to me personally. The cars computer didn't register the two events. The dealer told us they couldn't fix it if the computer wouldn't tell them what to fix. Honda's regional rep was called in on Jan 10 & deemed it as safe to drive. (Honda's rep deemed the car that the dealer employee had told us was "unsafe to be on the road" as being "safe"!). Jan 10, we requested to speak with Honda rep, Jan 11, no contact from Honda rep after service manager left 1 voice mail, 2 e-mails. (asked for reps #, refused) switched courtesy cars with dealer, requested the "description" of events on service ticket reflect the two mechanics statement about experiencing the "stuck accelerator". Jan 12, still waiting to speak with Honda rep and revised service ticket. Dealer still has our Honda. I am concerned for the safety of myself & others if I drive it without Honda repairing it. Please help us resolve this.

56 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/17/2010

This car was purchased brand new by me. I am in love with all but the drivers (left) side sunvisor. It broke apart at the seams. The hinge is hanging out and it is unusable. I have tried various methods to make it usable. This product needs to be replaced before a serious accident occurs.

57 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/12/2010

The fenders on this model of Honda are merely tacked on. My car was lightly bumped four times and the fenders had to be repaired. They only have a minimum of connectors holding onto them. The old fashion bumpers would prevent this. Updated 01/20/11.

58 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/01/2010

Paint / clear coat failure on 2007 Honda Civic in 4 years. Paint / clear coat has oxidized and begun chipping away down to bare metal on roof, hood, and around door and trunk edges.

59 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2010 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 11/08/2010

My vehicle wasn't even a year old and I was told that I need new brakes. The mechanic showed me the brakes and the rotor. I was metal to metal. Of course I had no choice but to purchase brakes for my new car. I also mention to the mechanic how my vehicle hesitated on occasion. Nothing was ever found with that.

60 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2002 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/28/2010

Driving on freeway at approx. 50 mph and notice car accelerating on it's own. Attempt to pull over but notice not able to stop. Pushing down on brake all the way and car still going approx. 50 mph. Call 911 and was told to pull emergency brake. Get into shoulder lane and pull brake gradually as instructed. After doing so, car slows to approx. 10 mph. At this point shoulder lane turns into downhill off-ramp and car gains speed to approx. 15 mph. Traffic signal with red light and stopped cars directly in front of me so make decision to turn car into a pole on sidewalk. This ultimately stops car from moving. However, car rpm gauge still revving between 2. 5 and 3. 5 until car is turned off. File claim with my insurance, independent investigator checks car and finds that everything is in working condition and cannot find anything wrong with car to have caused the sudden unintended acceleration and inability to stop while utilizing brake pedal.

61 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

While operating the above vehicle, the driver side sun visor imploded, became unstable and fell into my line of sight. This was a known hazardous defect on behalf of the manufacturer, Honda. I just became aware this has been a well documented flaw in the design and the company has been put on notice. The failure of Honda to voluntarily recall and/or repair the defected visor amounts to negligence according to most state case law. This should immediately result in a civil action before another failed product presents an undue hazard to another victim of Honda.

62 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

I have a 2007 Honda Civic coupe and both the passenger and driver sun visors have become loose and hang down in the way contantly. The driver side visor has now detached and is of no use for blocking sunlight. There have been many times that my vision as a driver has been compromised due to the lack of protection from the sun visor. I feel extremely unsafe driving in direct sunlight, even with the protection of sunglasses. The passenger side visor seems as though it will eventually detach as well. The failure has not been corrected, as it happend just after my car wasn't under warranty anymore. The replacement of these visors will cost $75 each and my Honda dealership doesnt guarantee that the new visors won't have the same problems that the old ones had. I have done research and many other Civic owers are having the same issue with the visors. It is imperative that Honda corrects this problem and has a recall for the sun visors, otherwise as a consumer concerned about my safety, I will not want to purchase another Honda.

63 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/10/2010

I have a 2007 Honda Civic, and the driver's side sun visor hinge is defective. It broke, and the visor is no longer adjustable -- it just hangs straight down. Judging from the number of complains being registered elsewhere online, this is a very common problem. It is also a safety concern, as I am now blinded by the sun or have the visor blocking my field of vision. I will contact Honda to request a free replacement, but as my car is out of warranty, I will probably have to buy a new one.

64 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2001 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/20/2010

The contact owns a 2001 Honda Civic. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact heard an unusual rambling from the engine. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was advised that the transmission would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 130,000. Updated 12/01/lj the consumer stated there was no failure. The consumer requested to have the report closed. Updated 12/09/10.

65 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/10/2010

I purchased my 2008 Honda Civic lx coupe on November 25th, 2009. When I purchased it, it had approximately 12k miles. In the summer of 2010, both of my sun visors broke. It appears that the swivel part of the visor wasn't lubed good enough and so it snapped the visors open. It broke the plastic part that help it all together. It has not been replaced. It costs about $50 each visor. Dealer refused to replace it because it is not covered under their warranty.

66 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

The driver's side visor is defective. It appears as though the seal on the hinge for the visor has come undone (not due to any excess force, simply due to general everyday use). The defective hinge on the visor leads to the inability to properly position the visor, when in use, or not in use. When in use, this creates a safety hazard due to obstructing the driver's vision by the visor itself due to inability to properly position the visor (it does not stay in place), or affecting the driver's vision due to not being able to properly shield glare and sun due to the inability to properly position the visor while driving. When not in use, the visor may not stay in place, therefore "flopping" in front of the driver's line of vision. This is a safety concern that, when researched on the internet, is large problem with Honda Civic owners like myself. This has not yet caused me to have an accident, but I'm trying to be proactive in preventing such an incident. I have tried multiple times to speak with my Honda service people, and I've been told this is not covered under warranty. However, the service people have told me they see this complaint "all the time. " this is a safety defect that needs to be addressed and properly handled. Thank you for looking into this matter.

67 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

The driver side visor split. It will not stay in position. Due to this, I have no visual protection from the sun when I drive. It is hazardous.

68 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/15/2010

The sun visor in my 2006 Honda Civic lx has broken twice now, where the visor will hang down in my line of sight. I am unable to secure it up or down. Both incidents occurred in the warm weather months when the car is very hot. First incident occurred within the warranty, ~20k miles and fixed by the dealer. Second incident began around 70k miles and worsened until the visor has completely broken. I have not fixed the visor this time, and feel that it is ridiculous to pay a dealer to fix a part which is clearly a manufacturer's defect.

69 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/14/2010

The drivers sun visor split during July 2010. I live in mass and it occured on a day that it was about 90 degrees. It is unusable and needs replacement.

70 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/08/2010

I experienced an acceleration problem on 2 occasion which prompted me to go online. Here I discovered that other people had experienced this issue and that there was a recall for Honda Civic 2 door models. What I want to know is why wasn't I contacted that there was a recall/national problem with cars like mine. Both incidents of lunging/jerking and being hard to stop the car happened (1st time: early July/ 2nd time late July). I told my dad the beginning of November in a conversation and he said to make an appointment immediately because it sounded like the Toyota acceleration type problem.
