My son purchased this vehicle from an individual at a dealership. Drove the car home with no problems, the check engine light was on and the seller did tell him there was an issue with the ima battery, but that it didn't keep from driving it. Didn't crank the car for 2 days. When we put the 10 day tag to get inspection done it wouldn't start. Took the 12 v battery out got it tested and showed bad battery. Replaced the battery, drove around and it died the steering stopped, the lights started flickering and it wouldn't restart. We took the new battery out got it recharged but are unable to drive it more than 10 miles without it flooding power and finally leaving stranded. If it was a standard vehicle I would say it was the alternate but this car doesn't have that. The ima battery needs to be replaced and without it the car is trash. What can we do with this car? I can't sell it, that wouldn't be right. The man who sold this car to my son was wrong in doing so.
It shows a problem on booster control module first, and then abs control module problem was followed in a month after fixing first one. I am second owner and bought it 2 years ago. There has not been problem at north carolina, but after moving here peoria IL where is colder in winter here 2 years ago, "checking brake system followed by checking abs, power steering, ima etc" about 5 checking signs showed on the panel. The mechanic said it was booster control module problem. After he replacing it, there was no problem for a week. And then when I drive slippery ground surface in a rain, and slipped a little, the same symptom with continuous working moter on abs assembly showed off. Even when the key out, the moter was still working so that there is no electrical power left due to discharging in the morning. The mechanic said that it is abs control module problem so that he is fixing it now.

While driving the power steering disengages leaving me without any power steering making it extremely difficult to turn my steering wheel in either direction. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when this will occur. Only that it will usually happen after about 20 minutes of steady driving. Sometimes it happens when I'm going straight and other times when I'm going around a bend. It has shut off on me while traveling at speeds of 65, 55, 40, 30, 20, all the way down to 5 mph right as I'm preparing to park my vehicle. Fortunately, the first time it happened about a month ago I happened to be going straight. I don't know what would have happened had it occurred 20 seconds earlier when I was going around a bend. Ever since then I stay hyper vigilant w/ 2 hands on the wheel, so if it does happen while turning I'll be able to muscle my way through the turn. Sure enough, yesterday evening I got the opportunity to test my reflexes. While traveling 35 mph on a backroad highway I began to turn into the sharp bend in the road when suddenly the steering warning light illuminated, and the power steering simultaneously disengaged. As I began to drift over into the yellow line w/ on-coming cars whizzing past, I decisively put every ounce of might I had into turning the wheel as fast and as far right as I could until I could get my car safely to the shoulder. I narrowly escaped a head-on collision. With a sigh of relief, I put the vehicle in park, activated my hazards and shut off my car for about 2 minutes. That usually does the trick. When I restart my car, I can usually expect the power steering to return. As I continue to drive the issue almost always seems to resurface within 10 minutes or so. The fact that the power steering just randomly disengages for apparently no reason whatsoever is obviously a serious safety concern. This really needs to be investigated.
I took my 2013 civic to Honda yesterday to get a car key programmed, and now my car will not run. It vibrates real loud, and the odometer will not go to 2. I have to now get it towed back to Honda on 10/30/17 and let them fix it, and I will not pay a dime. They did something to the computer while programming my key. I am very angry with them. I have not had major problems in the 4 years I have had the car, but if this is not fixed at their expense, I will sue. All over just a car key. L.

In the last two weeks I've had two instances where I was attempting to make a left turn at a green light and had to yield to oncoming traffic. However, when the next oncoming vehicle appeared to be far enough away and at a safe distance, I attempted to accelerate and make the turn and my hybrid system a. K. A. Honda's ima (integrated motor assist) would randomly fail to engage, leaving me with almost no acceleration power. It felt like I was driving a lawnmower. The engine would rev up, but the vehicle would not proportionately accelerate. The vehicle is almost impossible to drive uphill in downtown tacoma, wa as it starts rolling back even with accelerator pedal depressed all the way down. I contacted the dealership and was told that although there was a sb-10051509-6014 issued for my specific model, which in effect extended the warranty and my VIN fell under the specified criteria, it was cancelled due to a salvage branded title (a fact I didn't not notice until after I had purchased the vehicle from a private party). This isn't simply a warranty issue. This is in effect a safety issue as the driver is unable to remedy the situation in an emergency. The risk is significantly increased by the fact that the driver making the left turn is facing oncoming traffic which is coming towards the vehicle in full speed. Should a child be present in the rear seat, if the driver is unable to complete the left turn and vacate the intersection in time, the collision could prove fatal, especially since the hybrid battery pack and the high voltage wires are all connected right behind the rear seat.
Takata recall. Honda did a safety recall in 2015 but in 2017 I got the airbag sign again in Civic Hybrid and it's not going even mechanic tried to remove it with obd. Other problem is with ima system, it works often sometimes and sign stays at the dashboard. Honda should recall for airbag and ima system and fix it permanently.

The instrumental panel indicator, the parking brake, the climate control system, and the audio system are malfunctioning. On a road trip in July, the air conditioner (ac) stopped blowing out cold air while we were driving on the highway. However, if we put it on auto or fan, we would get cold air as though the ac is working. A few weeks later, the radio turned on by itself while I was driving on a city street even though I did not turn it on or did I hit a bump, which could reasonably explain it coming on. The radio was a one time event. And lastly, the brake light has been randomly and continuously came on and off on the instrumental panel while I'm driving as though I had left the parking brake on. This used to happen more when I'm making a turn or accelerating on city streets, but lately, the light has been coming on/off no matter if I'm turning or going straight or on a highway or city street. I plan on bringing the car into the dealership in a few weeks to have it checked out. P. S. The windshield wipers on this car do not adequately work fast enough in heavy rain as my other vehicles, making visibility a real issue. It has always been like that so I'm guessing it's the car design and not a defect, but fyi while I'm reporting issues.

In 2004 I purchased a 2004 Civic Hybrid. In 2011 the imf battery needed to be replaced. Now 4 years later the battery needs to be replaced again. The car is like new because I took such good care of it. It has under 70,000 miles on it. Honda has extended the warranty to 11 years for that battery. Since this car is a 2004 Honda will do nothing to help with the replacement of the 4 year old battery. They have quoted a price of $2800 to replace the battery which is about the book value of the car. My car has been supporting a young woman, who is pregnant and was using my car to go to work so she would be able to provide for herself and her child. On her 21st birthday I gave her the car. Within days the imf light came on and today the car stopped running. Now she is without transportation to get to work and earn money to support herself and her soon to be born baby. I gave her the car because it was supposed to be a dependable, well cared for, means of transportation.

As I am driving on a four lane road, with high traffic, my engine and battery lights come on. The car seems sluggish. I notice that the ima has stopped working. The car stopped accelerating at its normal pace. This made it dangerous for me to maneuver in traffic. I just pulled into the closest auto place I could find. They said it needed a new hybrid battery. Since I am afraid to drive it with its unpredictable state I got on line and see there was a recall on the voltage converter. Now I need to get it to a Honda dealership, pay for them to diagnose it, and see if Honda will cover the cost of a new battery. I will probably get it towed there since I am scared to drive it now.

I just bought a car from a small used car dealer last Nov. 9, 2015. I can save money for my gasoline expenses because the car I bought is a hybrid. I drove home this car with my son with 1/4 tank (25%) gasoline in the tank. But, after 3-days since the gasoline was below 1/4 of the tank, I full tank my car with gasoline (full tank). The next day when I open my garage from inside the house, I smell very strong gasoline vapor. I thought it's only some container of chemical in the garage that I smell that really smell terrible. I checked the bottom of the ground and I saw gas spilling onto the ground underneath the gasoline tank. By checking a lot of reviews from consumers/ automobile owner of 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid. There's a lot of issue of crack gasoline tank of this particular car,leaking from the rubber gasket between the gas tank and the fuel filler neck also. When the gasoline is leaking on the ground that goes all the way to the bottom of the gasoline tank, while running the friction of the running metal wheels can start a fire. I checked the online report that the american Honda are extending 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid from 80,000 to 120,000 miles for the manufacturer's warranty. It's very risky of the life of many people with the same issue or problem. I bought a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid from efficiency motor cars on 5 may 2013, paying $4600 up front and the final $200 less than a month later. The car has had problems (starting problems, battery replaced twice, wrong wheel size when bought, broken wheel stud, short in the electrical system that's been hard to find and finally the cars wheel rolled off the car when I was leaving arrest area) since I bought it. There hasn't been a straight month where the car has been reliable I ran into problems this week when attempting to get the car insured. Every insurance company that I applied to will not insure my car because of a salvage/rebuilt title of which I was previously unaware. I have not received the title, though I have asked efficiency motor cars for it several times. After becoming frustrated with efficiency motor cars, I made an attempt at getting the car’s title myself from the department of driver services. When inquiring about my car’s title I discovered the title was being held by the dds because efficiency motor cars had reported the wrong odometer reading. The former reading being 159,xxx from the previous title holder and 148, 074 when sold to me. (maybe a fraudulent roll back?) this is also how I discovered the car had previously been salvaged, which was not disclosed to me. So, when I finally get my title, the title will be salvage/rebuilt.

After having the 3rd ima battery installed in my hch 2009, the technician told me the reason that the batteries were failing and would continue to fail at a rate of about every 2-3 years, was that I "was not driving the car enough". I drive my car plenty--45000 miles on it. And I was never told when I was buying the car that I needed to drive it like a taxi cab to insure the battery's life. I have experienced all of the safety issues associated with a failing battery, I. E. Sluggish or nearly no acceleration (often in critical traffic situations), as well as poor mpg. I did not buy the Honda hybrid for its superior gas mileage--if I wanted the best I would have bought a prius. But I did want to invest in Honda and the continuance of dependability, service, and performance (this is my 3rd Honda). I was so disappointed when Honda offered me nothing more than the usual customer when I tried to trade in and repurchase a 2015 non-hybrid civic. I paid a lot extra for their 2009 hybrid technology, as did many others, with not even close to the performance that they promised.

My Honda Civic Hybrid 2007 has a recall and Honda will not honor the recall and keeps telling me that no it does not have a recall on it, I am misunderstanding what I am reading. This particular person keeps telling me he cannot do anything until Honda says to do it and they are not telling him to do this. My ima light came on and I need this fixed. When the car becomes low on gas you receive a low gas notification via the indicator (icon on the left side of the dash) and a notification via the information screen, which you can acknowledge and while the indicator stays on (normal) you can clear the information screen (and audible beeps) and have the information screen go back to showing the odometer or some other information. This was the status on my 2012 hybrid until ~90 days ago. When the vehicle now receives a low gas warning (verbal beep and low gas screen on the information screen) I acknowledge the error and clear the information screen so it goes back to showing odometer, etc. But while continuing to drive the system will activate the low gas warning (beep and screen) continuously (I. E. , 25 or more times in 10 mile period) similar to a seat belt warning. This have never happened in 2 years of previous ownership. Honda service people believe this is normal and that every Honda has this "feature" but they will not show me in any other car. Nobody would buy a car with this knowledge.
When trying to accelerate to access on ramp of freeway, the battery ima hybrid system suddenly was low causing the car to have less acceleration than usual, making merging with faster traffic unsafe. After taking the car in for evaluation, the local Honda dealer indicated the hybrid battery system was failing but not to the point that Honda of America would replace it. They stated the battery would have to get even lower and a dash light or code would have to appear. The battery/ima/hybrid system is covered up to 92000 miles and cannot be replaced by Honda unless the above conditions are met. The system is poorly engineered and the program update allows the battery to function at too low a level to allow adequate acceleration. Thank you.

As with most of the complaints on this site, the vehicle battery had to be replaced after the ima light came on. It historically flickered on and off and we thought initially nothing of it. We then did some research online only to find out that Honda has ignored the complaints about this issue, & instead have had their dealership's decide on whether to replace or not. Initially the dealership told my wife & I that it would cost $4. 5k+ to replace the battery, because it was no longer a warrantable item. There was no mention of anything Honda was doing to rectify this issue. After I did my general online research, the dealer mysteriously came back with their offer to pay all but $450+ of the cost to replace the battery. Both my wife and I thought this was very unusual, especially knowing the dealer doesn't do anything for free or at such a great discount. After further complaining and knowing we needed a working car, my wife haggled with the dealer down to $265 to replace a part that would have cost $4. 5k+. Everything about this whole battery replacement screams 'fishy', but with no action by NHTSA to address a growing chorus of persons who own the 2009 hybrid, people will ultimately pay the $4. 5k if they don't know that Honda may be silently addressing the issue, but leaving it up to their dealers to hand out the solution at their whim. This should be covered @ 100% by Honda including labor. This is/was a defective item from the 2009 model that should be recalled, but sadly it wont be until someone gets hurt. I say hurt because the dealer said, to get us to pay the initial $4. 5k+, that if we didn't replace the battery the car would shut down & all things connected to the battery would also fail as well, including steering and braking. This leaves 3 choices: pay the 4500; buy a new Honda and get nothing for the old one; leave Honda and get another branded car. All bad.

The ima (hybrid battery) system in my 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid has recently suffered several failures resulting in near loss of power and control. In the most serious instances, the "charge" indicated for the ima battery will suddenly drop (from a three-quarters or half-charge to no charge) in a few seconds while accelerating intro traffic (from auto stop) resulting in an marked, sudden decrease in acceleration. It is impossible to predict when this will happen -- and it has already resulting in 2 near accidents. I have reported this issue to my local Honda dealer. The have reprogrammed the ima system (pursuant to several service bulletins) to no avail. They have also noted that the ima system currently indicates code p047f (high voltage battery deterioration), but they refuse to replace the ima battery even though it is clearly defective and covered under the 9-year, 92000 mile warranty extension agreed to by Honda in the recent john true et al. V. American Honda class action settlement. It is only a matter of time before the defects in the ima system in the 2006 (and other) Honda Civic Hybrid models cause a serious crash due to unanticipated loss of power and/or control.
