1 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2011

Driveability issues created by rear differential. Requires accelerated and expensive maintenance at intervals above and beyond factory recommendations. Would appear to be a design reliability issue that should be addressed by Honda beyond simply shifting the burden on to owners. . . . . Updated 10/26/11.

2 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2010

2006 Honda crv rear differential fluid replaced once already and now having problems again. Hoping its just the fluid again. Been happening now for a few weeks.

3 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that when driving and attempting a sharp turn, the vehicle would exhibit an unusually loud noise. She also noticed a shuddering noise from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility for an oil change and the contact was informed that the rear differential was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The current and failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

4 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2010

Honda crv 2006 awd rear differential needs service every 30,000 minimum. This is contrary to the specifications in the owners manual.

5 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2010

Rear differential in 2006 Honda crv made a grinding noise when backing up or turning.

6 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2010

2006 Honda, Cr-v. Rear differential making noise, at slowed speeds while turning. Checked owners manual, it states to change at 90,000 miles. Checked on-line to see if this was a common complaint. Couldn't believe there is an actual service bulletin out for this and no notification from the dealership I bought it from or the dealership where I've had my oil changes done at. Really disappointed that I have to pay to replace the fluids so I don't have damage done to my car. Why is Honda not notifying there loyal customers about this problem, maybe covering the cost to replace the fluids that are "just breaking down prematurely" I bought my Honda because of the reputation.

7 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2010

2006 Honda crv, noise in the rear differential. Starts making grinding noise when turning sharply at low speed. Pasted 36 month warranty period. Honda put out a service bulletin #07-024 with instructions to replace the rear differential fluid and burnish the rear differential clutches. The owner's manual says to change differential fluid at 60k miles or 4 yrs. The original fluid is defective.

8 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2009

Dealer noticed a noise and reported a differential problem. Drained and refilled dual pump fluid, burnish differential clutches and drain and refill fluid again at a cost of $171. 70. Seems to be a problem with the Cr-v's that need to be addressed and a recall needs to be sent to owners.

9 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2007

I have had an odd sound coming from the rear differential of my Honda Cr-v. The dealer said after the first change of the fluid the sound would go away but it has come back over and over again. They refuse to pay for the rear differential fluid change and I understand that this is an ongoing problem with 2006 Cr-v's.
