1 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2026

There was a safety recall for the rear arm control and excessive rust, Honda said they fixed it back in 2018… out of no where my car lost control and caused me to crash, I brought the car back to Honda and the rear arm bracket broke off due to excessive rust however Honda states it was repaired and there is nothing they can do, they won’t even look at the vehicle.

2 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2025

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction regarding the handling of the recall for my 2007 Honda Cr-v due to frame corrosion. During the recall service, only a bracket was installed under the wheel well, addressing a single area despite extensive rust present throughout the frame and underbody. I believe the vehicle should have been considered for a buyback rather than a limited repair. Recently, my vehicle failed its safety inspection due to a rust hole in the frame, making it unsafe to drive and only suitable for scrap. When I contacted Honda for further assistance, I was informed that only recall-related issues would be addressed, and no additional support was offered. The presence of severe rust and a compromised frame poses significant safety risks, including: •increased likelihood of structural failure in the event of a collision, which could result in serious injury or death. •reduced effectiveness of critical safety components, such as seat belts and airbags, due to weakened mounting points. •higher risk of suspension or wheel detachment while driving, potentially causing loss of vehicle control. I am deeply concerned about the safety implications and the inadequate resolution of the recall.

3 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2023

On 07/21/2023, I took my car to the dealership for an evaluation related to a recall on the rear frame brace. The inspection revealed that my car was unsafe to drive, and I was informed that I could not take it off the dealership premises. Since then, I have been trying to reach an agreeable solution with America Honda motor- Honda recall, but they have not responded. I have also tried to get assistance from the attorney general of my state but to no avail. The local Honda dealership still has possession of my auto, and this issue remains unresolved as of 02/11/2024.

4 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2022

My catalytic converter was stolen when my car was parked. Honda owners has been targeted for its catalytic converters, and there are numerous reports of Honda’s cats being stolen. Honda has a major defect where it makes it easier for thieves to steal the cat in minutes. There are 3 major flaws with the product. 1) Hondas don’t automatically come with a cat converter steel shield, cage, or other protector to make them harder to steal. 2) Hondas don’t install their cat in the engine compartment like other car manufacturers to deter theft. 3) Honda’s cat contains valuable materials, which is why they are targeted. Other car brands tend to have less valuable catalysts so thieves are not incentivized to steal them. Because there are many cats being stolen, there is a shortage to replace them, and car owners have to wait weeks to months to get their cat replaced. It’s been almost 2 weeks, and my car is still at the mechanic’s waiting for a replacement catalytic converter. My safety, and the safety of my family, including two kids, were compromised because I had to drive my family home (and we live in a hilly area) without a cat as it was stolen Sunday evening, and I had to wait until the next day to get it to the mechanic’s. The warning light appeared when I started the car, but by the telltale sound my car made, I already knew the cat was stolen. A police report was filed and the claim with my insurance was completed. Cats are very expensive to replace and an inconvenience for a 1-car family. Now we don’t have a car to do basic necessities like take the kids to school, go grocery shopping for the family, go to work, and go to doctor appointments.

5 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2022

While performing maintenance on the car, I found that the left (drivers) rear mounting bracket which is a part of the frame/body, and hold the right rear trailing arm - holding the rear axle was severely rusted and cracking apart from corrosion. The right (passenger) bracket showed no rust damage. This problem has been reported by others, and canada has found the same issues and issued a recall for this car/VIN group. Although this car is 15 years old, this thick 3/8" heavy metal bracket should not have disintegrated like this even with the salt used on the highways, and is shown with absolutely no issue with the right (passenger side)bracket. Upon taking it to the dealer, there was nothing they could do, nor could they get the "fix" being used in canada or any other information as to how they are correcting this problem. Suggestion is to buy a new car or take it to a body shop and see if they could fabricate a repair. Honda dealer did not seem to be too concerned about this rust, so I will have to go elsewhere to have it evaluated. From what I have found here on the internet, this is a serious problem, and when it breaks as it has for others, you loose control of the car because the axle is now only attached to one side of the car. If there is a fix for this, (as they have one in canada) they should be compelled to provide it. This isn't a who pays for the repair. It's been known for some time now, and they should have already addressed this. But to withhold the safety fix isn't acceptable.

6 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2021

While driving vehicle on 07/01/2021 the right rear trailing arm disconnected from the right rear frame rail due to corrosion. Transport canada issued a recall (#2019-025) for 83,953 Honda Cr-v's sold new in canada for this problem. My Honda Cr-v was manufactured at the same plant as those recalled in canada. The reason for the recall in canada was because these vehicles were driven on roads treated with deicing materials, much the same as vehicles driven in illinois. This vehicle has not been inspected by american Honda. This is a clear safety issue due to the nature of the suspension becoming detached with no notice.

7 Body problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2021

Driving down a secondary road at 40 mph, the car made a loud crashing and scraping spud. This made the driver duck and cover as it felt that the car had seen struck by something. The car then began to veer out of control. The rear end began to fishtail left into the opposite lane then back again. The car then quickly came to a laid scrapping stop on the side of the road. When exiting the vehicle the drivers side rear tire was facing perpendicular to the road exposing broken metal and frame rail. Luckily no one was killed.

9 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2020

1) the car fails to start occasionally. I already had repair shop changed to new battery and alternator. 2) the driver's front door handle (outside) sticks and do not go back, after it's been pulled. This causes the car's doors locks to lock and unlock during driving, stops and gos.

10 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2020

Vehicle failed state inspection due to excessive corrosion in the rear frame and the risk of the rear-trailing separating from the frame and likelihood of an ensuing accident. The inspection station strongly recommended against repair due to the stress point, and integrity of the surrounding structures. I opened case # 10157114 with american Honda, and they have the documentation of the issue along with pictures taken by an authorized Honda dealer. This same issue was identified in 2019 by transport canada recall # 2019025. Honda canada's statement regarding the recall: "excessive corrosion to the rear frame may result in frame stiffener perforation and, in extreme cases, cause the rear-trailing arm to separate from the vehicle's frame structure. A separated rear-trailing arm may cause the vehicle to be difficult to control, increasing the risk of a crash. " american Honda (USA) refuses to recognize the issue, and insists this is only a Honda canada issue. The problem with that stance is that canadian production of the Cr-v model did not begin until the 2012 model year. Cr-vs for both the canadian and us markets for the 2007-2011 model years were primarily produced in east liberty, OH, USA and sayama, saitama, japan. Thus the manufacturing specifications for the frames of the vehicles subject to the canadian recall will exactly match those sold in the USA as they came off the same production lines. The vehicle subject of this complaint was assembled at the japan facility.

11 Body problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2019

While driving to work, just coming off the highway, I noticed my car became very difficult to control. I immediately pulled over, and saw my back driver's side tire at a very strange angle. I called the tow truck. We both looked under the car, and it appeared to be that the arm came dislodged from the frame on that side due to extensive corrosion. When coming home I googled the issue, and saw canada had a safety recall for this exact problem, in humid areas that use salt for DE-icing. Coastal new england would also fall under these conditions, as would many other northern areas of the united states. This should absolutely be recalled here as well. If it had happened 5 minutes sooner, I could have been in a serious accident.

Honda drive slow all doors make noise while driving remote key change to a key tire light stay on at all time all doors locked up had to pay for a lock smith.

18 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2017

Front passenger door lock will not stay unlocked after being activated from the driver's side or passenger side. This poses a safety problem should the front passenger need to exit the vehicle in an emergency situation. The rear driver's side door lock will not stay locked, after manually "locking" the vehicle and especially after the vehicles automatic locking system is activated. This poses a safety issue should a child, or a passenger if any age can open the door while the vehicle is in motion. This is a safety feature and door locks should be covered by Honda with no expiration.

19 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

Door locks keep going out. Vehicle won't lock, alarm doesn't work, someone can jump in my car at a stop light. I'm a widow alone. This the 3rd door the locks broke in 3 yrs. Cost several hundred dollars each time.

20 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2016

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Cr-v. While the vehicle was parked, the rear driver's side door and rear hatch failed to unlock and open with the electronic key fob. Also, the front and rear passenger doors would unlock and open intermittently. The contact mentioned that the front driver side door also had issues unlocking and opening. The contact heard a loud sound coming from the doors and the door ajar warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing, but the results were unknown. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that there was a recall in 2015 for the front driver side door. The contact was unaware if the VIN was included. The recall details were not provided. The failure mileage was approximately 158,000.

21 Body problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2016

Prior to the failure, the vehicle made abnormal noises. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the actuators in the trunk, rear driver, and rear passenger side doors were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they replaced the rear passenger side door actuator. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 171,000.

22 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2016

Tl- takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Honda Cr-v. The contact was not experiencing a failure until the vehicle was taken to the dealer (kelly Honda, 40 lynnway, lynn, MA 01905,(781) 595-5252) 2 years ago for a manufacturer recall to service the door lock actuator. The contact stated that there was an intermittent failure which caused the contact to be locked inside the vehicle. In addition, the doors failed to lock and unlock. The contact also took the vehicle to the dealer for NHTSA campaign numbers: 17v030000 (air bags) and 16v061000 (air bags) but was uncertain as to when the parts may be supplied to the dealer to receive the repairs within a reasonable time frame. The contact was also uncertain about the door lock actuator failure and report the failure to the manufacturer to determine a solution for the dealers repairs. Parts distribution disconnect. The approximate failure mileage not available. Dyd.

23 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2015

If the car battery is dead, the rear lift gate cannot be opened from the outside nor the inside without tools (I just found out that there is an unlabeled cover inside the lift gate that hides the inside emergency manual release; but it cannot be removed without a tool) . This means that the spare tire and tire changing tools are going to be unreachable. Moreover, if the side doors are damaged in any way so that the rear lift gate is the only reasonable way to exit the vehicle, it cannot be used. I contacted the Honda customer service number (800. 999. 1009) and they were unable to provide an answer inasmuch as the owner's manual was their only resource. They refused to provide any other resource or escalate my concern.

24 Body problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

Door lock actuators for rear doors are defective. Unable to lock rear doors.

25 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2014

Rear right door locks itself aproximately 1/2 second after unlocking, whether via electric switch or by manually pushing the unlock lever. I consider this a safety issue, as egress is only possible by a precisely-timed, two-step process: unlock the door and rapidly actuate the door handle. The component does not fail-safe; it fails into an usafe mode.

26 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2014

My 2007 Honda Cr-v, passenger door locks itself immediately after unlock by the main lock/unlock switch, key fob or the manual tab in the door. We have to be very precise in unlocking and pulling the door at the same time. Even a second delay could bring the boor back in to unlock position. This can be very dangerous in case of fire or accident as the passenger can not unlock and escape from the vehicle. Please look in to it. Thanks.

27 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2014

The first sign of a door locking problem started with my rear hatch not opening. As a senior female I had to struggle to get 10 40lb bags of smelly wet fertilizer over the passenger seats and out a passenger door. The next day I found the rear passenger door does not lock and the locks keep clicking as you drive. Two Honda dealers we called offer nothing but an expensive repair. My research on the internet tells me after drivers pay Honda many hundreds of dollars for this repair the problem returns on another door or the actuator they replace fails again. This is a safety hazard for both a passenger falling out or a criminal getting in and attacking someone or stealing the car and or its contents. Why is nothing being done when so many people are at risk. This is not a potential problem, it is an existing problem for crv, civic and accord drivers.

28 Body problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2014

The car was in bumper to bumper traffice, driver had foot on brake pedal. The car began to accelerate and would not stop even with foot on brake pedal. Vehicle struck two cars and ended up smashing into the rear of a stopped 18 wheeler.

29 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

Front passenger door kept locking on its own automatically and immediately every time I unlocked it. After a few months, rear right passenger door makes loud sound every time I lock the doors, scared a kid in the vehicle as it happened unexpectedly. Dealers didn't mention anything about safety issues, replaced the first one for $250 plus labor charge and have asked me to get the car for servicing again to see if the second one needs to be changed as well. I have had regular maintenance since buying the car. I looked up online and found out about multiple cases with actuator problems with crv models but Honda not taking responsibility to replace or recall to fix defective actuators despite being aware of the defects. Class action suits have been filed by people as it is causing safety issues but Honda still not taking responsibility, not sure what you can do to make them take responsibility.

30 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2013

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the door locks would independently become unlocked. The failure started on the rear passenger's side door and progressed until all doors in the vehicle were affected. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

31 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2013

We have a 2007 Honda crv and have been having issues with our locks. They will click numerous times when they are not supposed to. . . Everytime a stop is made while driving the car they reclick. It can be a stop sign, stop light, or just a brief stop and we will hear a clicking sound like they are relocking. We have often noticed that when someone tries to enter the driver door or front passenger door the unlock mechanism on the key or driver door has to be hit at the exact same time for a person to be able to open the door. Although it is very frustrating to hear these clicks over and over and to have to deal with trying to get into the car like this, there is an even bigger issue of safety. The rear passenger door (behind the driver's seat) will unlock itself after the car is in motion. You can hear the rear door click to unlock and it will show orange. What is even more alarming is that the rear door can be opened while the car is in motion even after the doors have been manually locked by the driver pushing the lock button! this is a serious safety hazard as my children ages 7 and 9 ride in the backseat of our crv.

32 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the rear driver's side automatic door failed to lock as designed upon reaching 9 mph. In addition, the rear driver's side door would not lock automatically when exiting the vehicle. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000. Kmj.

33 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2013

Door actuator unlock after locking it.

34 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2013

Drivers door key wont open door.

35 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2013

The front 2 doors lock and unlock at random times. The front passenger door would not allow my daughter to get out of car or allow me to open manually from the outside. The is a very big safety hazard. Honda dealership wants $400. 00 per door to fix. I guess they are waiting until someone dies from this to recall.
